Idk if it’s because I’m an american who actually grew up abroad but sometimes I really can’t believe how up their own ass some Americans are re: their relationship to the rest of the world and as someone who loves Obama but hates his foreign policy I am literally so sad that steve’s thought process kind of falls in line with general ‘I know best’ American sentiment. Rhodey’s line about dangerous arrogance was so good and I loved??? that it was the active soldier in the room who said that.
tbh the Accords are almost wish fulfillment in the sense that there’s no way any American armed force actually pays that much attention to what the rest of the world wants when it comes to where they should interfere. More than a hundred countries signed it! And an African nation is the one leading the charge! (T'chaka’s importance in this whole thing is A+) Like true we don’t know how much things would actually work as intended but again, it’s about setting up the correct processes. People are always going to have personal agendas and if the knee-jerk reaction to the events of cap 2 is to say ‘don’t trust any official governing body ever again’ like that is so? Not a good precedent to set??
