63. Everybody Knows/Mistaken for Couple + 85. Innocent Physical Contact

the Foxes all knew that Andrew and Neil were fucking--they’re not exactly subtle

what they didn’t realize, was that “fucking” was just not even CLOSE to describing the relationship they had

they learned though, eventually

it started with a movie night

all the Foxes are huddled together in the girls’ room to watch some movie and they’ve all settled, popcorn’s been made, jokes traded, blah blah, and Dan makes some jab at the main character, glancing around and smiling at the others when they laugh--but her eye catches on Neil

well, Neil’s hand actually, which is buried in Andrew’s hair

Andrew’s kind of slumped over on the couch, with his boots kicked up on Nicky’s shoulders because he’s an asshole. Neil’s on the other side of him, leaned up against the arm of the couch and he’s watching the movie with a kind of pinched expression but his hand is just, messing with Andrew’s hair

Neither of them really seem to realize it’s happening, or react to it, except that Andrew’s eyes are closed like he’s sleeping

the next time they realize the two of them might actually be closer than they thought is when everyone decides to go out on a picnic

Nicky is ecstatic, the other monsters not so much but Neil makes them all come along and so they head out to some grassy park and have lunch

they end up playing a pick-up exy game to appease Kevin, but Neil’s obviously dragging (the night before he stayed up all night to finish some assignment he wasn’t going to do until Dan threatened him with court banishment) and so they all plop back down on the blankets

to everyone’s surprise instead of coming to sit down with them, Neil wanders over to where Andrew is stealing the frosting off the cupcakes they brought and just collapses, face first, on the blanket and passes out

they all freeze, unsure of what to do, but Andrew just grabs one of the Foxes discarded jackets and dumps it over Neil’s head

Eventually they go back to talking--though now more quietly--but surprisingly, Andrew doesn’t move even though Neil’s whole arm is pressed against his leg.

and then the time that really convinces them all that they’re actually so in love it’s physically impossible--is when Matt forgets his jacket in the Monster’s room and goes to grab it

Kevin opens the door for him, looking grumpy--like he’d just woken up (it is like 7am) and Matt tells him he’s just here for the coat so Kevin shrugs and goes back to bed

But when Matt goes into the living room he almost trips over his own feet because Andrew and Neil are on the couch

But Neil’s completely passed out on top of Andrew--like a fucking blanket--while Andrew impassively messes with his phone over Neil’s shoulder

Matt hurries to leave and Andrew doesn’t even acknowledge him, but--

holy fuck you bet your ass Matt told everyone else as he got back
