the shaving conversation on tiktok is actually making me want to rip the skin off of my face. being involved with women online is so incredibly difficult when so many of them refuse to acknowledge that some acts simply aren’t feminist. “feminism is about women’s choices so you’re being misogynistic” YOU ARE STUPID! FEMINISM IS NOT AND HAS NEVER BEEN ABOUT WOMEN CHOOSING THINGS! you can still shave or do your makeup or whatever and be a feminist. you cannot magically erase the reason something was invented and pushed to society just because you like that thing. shaving is not secretly feminist. shaving is due to patriarchal conditioning. and that is okay. nobody is pinning you down and robbing you of your fucking razors. we are asking you to use your brain and notice the ways in which you are impacted by patriarchy, misogyny, and sexism, even if you get slightly uncomfortable for those 12 seconds you spend thinking. you aren’t a martyr because a feminist (who has done more reading and thinking than you) told you a fact. like it’s actually so stupid to me. i have such little patience for it. you would’ve never invented or made a habit of shaving if there was no such thing as patriarchal conditioning and gender roles
