Wanted to share this because it irks me.
Hate feeling like my body is working against my brain all the time, feeling horny when I know I shouldn’t be, nor do I wanna be. And it clashes so heavily with my asexuality, feeling simultaneously on both ends somehow.
Not to mention my hypersexuality makes me feel ashamed most of the time, like I feel like a bad person due to my impulses or thoughts. I don’t act on them, but idk. It’s not fun, it doesn’t help people think hypersexuality is a trend.
It’s a real disorder, and it causes issues. It’s not something someone should want to have. like cmon y’all. 😭
^^^^^ last line is something people need to hear
people romanticize hypersexuality heavily, seeing people go "i wanna hypersex partner" is so irritating
it is a mental illness, i cant say "i want a bf with depression" or "i want a manic gf" especially if i dont know much about those conditions. in the end youre gonna make their mental health worse if you take advantage of their mental illness
do you have any advice or places to look for someone who is asexual but often questions being hypersexual over heavily unwanted feelings that if acted on make me feel even worse afterwards and question why I would even think about acting on them? Anything I look at to try figure it out feels impossible to learn anything from because none of it accounts for being asexual at the same time so I can't properly answer anything with stuff like quizzes etc
would have asked on anon but I want to be able to be notified if/when this is answered and I care about knowing that more than being anonymous
you basically described hypersexuality! a lot of times asexuality is seen as "the opposite of hypersexuality" but its really not, and some places that talk about hypersexuality assume youre allosexual especially with quizzes.
my advice personally is that youre not broken or alone in your situation and dont try to fit in a category since hypersexual and asexuality is a spectrum, a lot of people tend to doubt themselves, feel free to journal or write down how you feel. hope this helps
How do you know if you're a hyperace and not a non-asexual? (genuinely asking)
it varies between people, but for my experience, i found it hard for me to find anyone attractive sexually, whenever i feel attracted to someone i don't see myself having sex with them. but my hypersexuality would make up scenarios of me and my crush and just intrusively put it in my head, giving me unwanted feelings and fantasies about sex despite not having sexual attraction
a lot of people have different ways of expressing their experiences with hypersexuality and asexuality but thats personally my personal experience :)
i thought I was asexual for a long time, cuz i just could NOT get off at all, and honestly I go sometimes on moments (with moments I mean a certain period of time) that I would literally be repulsed to sex and anything sexual, but then I would have moments of only thinking about sex and being horrny all the time. which would follow with a guilt and disgust at myself for it. rn I do not think I'm asexual, and I don't feel repulsed to sex at least at the moment, but I do feel like guilty and dirty for thinking so much about sex and sexualizing myself so much, but I js can't stop doing as well and I don't even feel pleasure in doing it. I just do it.
(also kinda long sorry bout that.)
i would like to tip that asexual means someone lacks sexual attraction, which is different then sex itself and sexual urges. (you dont havw to identify as asexual though if it doesnt fit for u tho !)
but hope youre doing better anon, i know deep down you are not disgusting or gross for something you cant control. <3

In regards to the last anon just want to say:
you can be asexual and alloromantic
you can be asexual even if your asexuality is connected to (or even caused by) sexual trauma
too many people have this idea that you can't be a "real" asexual unless you have no trauma/s, don't experience other forms of attraction (e.g. romantic, aesthetic, platonic ECT.) and have no libido.
but all asexual means is not finding someone attractive in a sexual way, if you experience that, you're asexual, is you kinda experience it or unsure than you might be a different ace-spec term such as demisexual or greysexual, but of course only you can decided that.
🎯 right on the dot anon
Recently, I'd been sitting in a lab with some friends while they comfortably rambled about vaguely embarrassing sex experiences
I was honestly fascinated that they can just. Talk and laugh about it like it's no big deal. Like, what?? You can do that?? It's so personal to me, but just another tuesday for them.
Came intrusive thought #1: "I wish I had that.. I wanna feel good, too."
Immediately followed by intrusive thought #2: Putting me in that situation and all I could see was myself crying in shame and fear.
Oookay, then, maybe not! Envy became disgust real fast, lol

seeing people talk and laugh about sex so casually is so fascinating yet odd to me. me personally, i can talk about sex itself but my own sex life? it would feel so weird 😓

Hi, just ignore this ask if this violates any of your rules but I want to get this out and I think this is a safe space. I grew up thinking I was straight but recently I have been doubting that. I think growing up I didn't actually like men but I was more of looking for their validation. And now I'm an adult, I have no interest being with men or women sexually (I still want a romantic relationship someday, when I'm ready and I am never romantically attracted to woman). I was SAd when I was little and now, as an adult just thinking about sex terrifies me but also I can't stop sexualizing myself and I often think about sex and seek pleasure from masturbation but still the thought of having sex with another person terrifies me. I don't know if I'm just straight and traumatized but sometimes I think that I'm asexual and struggles with hypersexual. My best friend said I can't be an ace because I had crushes on other people but if I'm not mistaken romantic asexual exist? And idk if you can be asexual but still have sex urges and wanting it to be fulfilled (?) I know I could just not put label on my sexuality but I get frustrated sometimes. I have so many questions regarding asexuality but my culture is sort of anti queer so I don't have anyone to talk to irl.
Asexuality is described to have little or no sexual attraction, typically its a spectrum. You can totally still be asexual even with sexual urges and romantic crushes!
