✨- In all honesty I’m not 100% sure what draws me to Bandstand. I am very far from patriotic, and I didn’t grow up with veteran family or much awareness. I think it stems from 3 places.

📃(SAF)- (exploding many times) I’m going to try and keep this most vague and spoiler free because I’m assuming from the nature of the ask you have not seen SAF and I hope you do

Spies Are Forever is a satirical spy comedy musical about Agent Curt Mega (played by Curt Mega). While it is a comedy the show is extremely tragic and touching in a way that has haunted me since I first saw it several years ago. It both parodies and subverts spy movie tropes, and subtly bakes historical context and Cold War politics into the foundation of the show. It’s also extremely and undeniably queer. I guess I’ll take a vague non spoilery plot description from the creators (the Tin Can Bros) themselves: Agent Curt Mega finds himself thrust into the shadows of Cold War politics as he works to foil a plot to rebuild the Nazi empire. Along the way, Agent Mega must tango with a Russian femme fatale, waltz around a black market arms dealer, and samba through a horde of outrageous characters.

🎥- I adore many many scenes the ones that haunt me the most/I think about the most are the ending scene of Mayhem On A Cross, the scene with Hodgela after Brennan and Hodgins almost get buried alive, the interrogation where Booth hits the abusive dad in the Signs In the Silence, the scene between Sweets and Caroline Julian in The Bullet in the Brain, the “people lie but bones always tell the truth” scene in the signs in the silence, the reveal that Zack was Gormogon’s apprentice, the reveal that he didn’t kill anyone (rare Zack Sweets interaction) and the dance party Sweets Booth and Brennan have (I’m capping it here I just really love so many scenes- can u tell I love angst)

💕- Because I’ve talked about Zack a lot (incessantly) I’ll talk more about my #2 Blorbo Dr. Lance Sweets! I love Sweets so much he’s so silly and dear to me. My feelings about him are much less articulate and thought out than Zack but he’s just so endearing and entertaining. Like he’s such a goober. I’m fascinated by the implications and importance of him being a psychologist. I love the way his history of trauma is written and acted it’s really important to me for personal reasons. He is also such a vital figure in a lot of the characters lives and just Aughh. Idk I wish I had more articulate thoughts to add other than just incoherent screaming and love

🏳️‍🌈- aughh I have so many hcs that are important to me and I’ve talked about a lot of them so I won’t go super in depth and I’ll pick a few that are most dear to me:

Zack: autism (barely a hc), CPTSD, chronic pain- gay, trans, demiromantic

Sweets: autism, CPTSD- trans, bisexual

Brennan- autistic (again barely a hc), Cptsd- mostly unlabeled but trust and believe she is queer when it comes to both gender and sexuality

Hodgins- audhd ptsd- nonbinary transmasc and bi

Cam- omnisexual (I feel so strongly about this do not ask why I do not know)

Daisy- audhd BPD dyspraxia- sapphic demigirl

Arastoo- PTSD DPDR- pansexual

Fisher- autism depression (which is obviously canon)- aromantic omnisexual demiboy (he/they/it)

Vincent- audhd- trans, gay (but I also think he’s very repressed)

Caroline Julian- lesbian‼️ she is such a lesbian to me it’s insane

💎- Despite playing the youngest character Eric Millegan was the oldest actor in the main cast when Bones started filming

Oooo okay! I absolutely adore Bandstand but I have a few minor gripes

This only really applies to the papermill/Broadway productions (rip tour you could’ve gone far) but it’s always felt extremely strange to me that the entire cast is white (or at least looks white) except for one person like idk theater is such a diverse industry and black people both created swing and played a crucial role in WWII and like the voices of POC are especially important in the examination of the mistreatment of veterans especially after WWII (thinking about how commonly veterans of color were denied benefits or dishonorably discharged)

They had absolutely no reason to cut Jimmy’s coming out scene it’s not for time the scenes like a minute long and it adds so much meaning and nuance both to Jimmy’s character and his relationship with Donny/the rest of the band

This is very much personal to me and very biased but Nick and Wayne should’ve actually been gay it’d be easy you’d barely have to change anything like give me a quick kiss or an extra short scene outside their hotel room or something like that pleaseee

Also I understand why and it makes sense and like time restraints but I wish the show spent more time with all of the members of the Donny Nova Band not just Julia and Donny because they are such great characters with such unique experiences and perspectives like I’d happily sit down to a 3 hour show for it

I wish we got to see more of give me a solo from Jimmy about seeing the injustices of the world and fearing for his future as a queer man give me a duet between Nick and Wayne about struggling to consolidate their neuroticisms and traumas in order to live together give me a solo/sequence about Johnny grappling with his chronic pain and cognitive issues give me a solo from Davy about trying to forget the things he’s seen and steadily drinking more and more

But I vividly remember watching it for the first time because it was Mother’s Day and I was curled up on my grandmother’s couch having terrible period crams and watching it on my broken phone.

✨ what draws you towards your hyperfixation? what is interesting about it?

okay so my hyperfixation is House of the Dragon, especially Lucerys. i love it because of the family drama and the dragons, and because in my personal opinion it just is thrilling to know what happens next! and since my hyperfixation inside HotD is Lucerys, i just absolutely adore how soft and chill his character is. He just IS AN ADORABLE LITTLE BEAN THAT DESERVED TO BE TREATED WITH CARE AND RESPECTFULLY <333 and, spoilers alert, he deserved justice.

this little guy has so much fucking trauma in him jesus christ and his traumatic childhood literally affects his behaviours in so many ways like jesus fucking christ.

honestly this is barely a fucking headcanon like come on. but anyway. something i want to see is someone else seriously recognizing that iruma's hella traumatized because man... he shot through his fear but he was all alone. i need the comfort to the hurt ykwim.

we already talked abt this. like how iruma is acquired neurodivergency from his traumatic childhood. yeah

iruma's trauma episode wrecked me like i said in my last answer i seriously think about it so much. like he was always alone... he had to take care of himself... but he was always fine... and the way that he refuses to despair bc he sees it as pointless... oh my fucking god i really am an iruma kinnie help me that's actually really me core um i just realized this right now as i was typing it HELP EAHWAIEHYAE

i love.... the way that he doesn't despair. like man lucas your favourite episode is such a fucking good episode bruh. when kiriwo wants to see the look of despair on his face and hes just like haha no there is no point in that. optimism win.

i love how throughout the progression of the story he becomes more determined and ambitious. like he used to never focus on himself and then he learns to do that and its just so hdifuudh I LOVE watching his growth so much

i find him so fascinating i want to pick apart his brain and dissect him and also put him in a little jar and inspect him. i also often think about the way that he refuses to despair because in his past then despairing was pointless and useless bc he needed to always keep going and keep trying to survive. i also find it fascinating how his behaviours can be explained by his traumatic past like how he's a total pushover (same lmao) and how he always eats so much and of course the way that he knew so much about survival during HF.

his fear of loneliness is literally so yummy (i love angst) and like you and i were talking about before you said he'd probably be the type to try not to burden others with his problems and i also find that so yummy to because like man this silly little guy has so many issues.

i also really like how sweet and kind he is (kinda ties into the pushover thing a little... again, i kin). like he's just so kind and considerate agsuusdhsudhei i love him
