Had to do my favorite Hyper/Critic moment
Drew, scanned and colored last night at work
Hyper Fangirl and Nostalgia Critic as Lola Bunny and Daffy Duck
So, the return of Hyper Fangirl has happened, and here’s how I feel about it.Â
I do like HFG, even more now, after seeing the new review. She is, I believe, a great addition to the Critic’s world. He definitely needs more than just in-universe Tamara and Malcolm dressing up for his review skits. Plus, she gives Tamara another character in the universe.Â
Before, I just found her amusing, because there are fangirls who go too far in their obsessions. I understand this, because I can somewhat relate, only I never acted on those kind of thoughts. I still can see where the line is, unlike HFG.
So, she stalked, kidnapped, and threatened Critic’s life, all to get him to love her. I actually don’t think she really loved him in the beginning though. I don’t actually know what word to use for what she was doing, but I don’t think it was love. However, after the new review, I think she’s really falling in love with him.Â
I really felt for her, when Critic was going off on her. Although, I think he was a bit too harsh, she did deserve some of it. But the reality of the whole review is, she was honestly trying to help Critic. She heard him say the movie, “may have put me off of Christmas altogether”. She wasn’t trying to get with him, or anything like that. She just wanted him to keep his Christmas spirit. After his explosion, she was going to leave for good, which she was going to do in the beginning, if curiosity hadn’t gotten to her.
Even though Critic had Santa Christ retcon the review, it didn’t really change anything. HFG already understood Critic’s feelings, that’s why she was going to keep going, when he hid himself. Remember, what Critic said at the end of Princess Diaries 2?Â
“Love is a strange thing, Benny. Sometimes you have to be away from it for a while, to fully understand it.”
HFG learned her lesson. She just wanted to help Critic keep his love for Christmas. She really did nothing wrong this time around. Critic was just annoyed seeing her again, and remembering all the terrible things she did before. He let his anger get the better of him, which he was still in his rights. He also didn’t apologize for hiding. He didn’t need to. Critic is still the victim, but like I said, HFG learned her lesson. She understood she was in the wrong and probably nothing will ever happen between them.
So, the moments with the two, talking, laughing and just hanging out, I found to be adorable. Also, great character development for Critic and HFG. Critic has been quite the jerk, post-plothole. It’s nice to see his softer side at times. While Hyper Fangirl obviously still has some feelings for Critic, it looks like she may have better control of them and will continue to be just friends with him.Â
I mean, if they bring her back. The door, after all, was left open. But, this would be a good place to end on, if they don’t bring her back.Â
I am seriously way too into these characters…
