the scene was rockin', all were digging the sounds as the monster mash started to hit the festival grounds. the parade had concluded, the first set of live music came to its close, when suddenly the people saw a problem had arose. a big flash of lightning suddenly broke through the clear sky— wait, is that a monster? my, oh my.
with the halloween festival ready to finish for the season, it had one last event in store for washington dc's citizen: the advertised monster mash show at the end of the final day. however, what was meant to be a fun evening with music and friends was quick to turn sour. just as the sun cleared the horizon, there was a single bolt of lightning, signaling the arrival of monsters, creatures, and ghouls there to now torment those in attendance. escape, though not entirely impossible, became difficult as the festival streets were now filled with danger that hadn't existed just moments before. if people want to make it to safety, they better move quick and keep those eyes peeled – you never know what's lurking around the corner.
OOC INFORMATION:
well, as some of you may have guessed, we couldn't pull off a totally normal, chill event. especially not for halloween of all things! so just to spice things up a little for those wanting something with a bit more of an edge, we're introducing some monsters for the remainder of the event. this still isn't mandatory, as the surprise is being contained close to the festival grounds, but it's now an option that can be utilized to transition or create threads until the event's conclusion!
THE MONSTERS:
happy halloween gang, your characters will now face off against troves of monsters, both familiar and not. we have taken from a multitude of different fandoms to give a mix of difficulty but also variety.
here you will find the full list of monsters invading the city
your characters will have full run of the city as always, they are free to make safe houses, try and save people, run head first into a horde for the thrill of it. anything you can really think of.
these monsters are not just attacking people from the same fandoms, and we encourage you to branch out and fight some new creatures! you can use a randomizer to pick out different monsters for each thread.

the halloween ball is in full swing, and the white house is full of music and laughter. children are bouncing around with more sugar in their systems than they’ve had in a long while, and the adults are dancing the night away and indulging in a few drinks. it’s become much more of a carefree party than a formal ball, and everyone is clearly having a wonderful time the longer the night goes on.
at the stroke of midnight, however, everything changes. the lights flicker, and an ominous wind blows through the room, slamming doors shut around the guests and extinguishing the candles laid around the room. despite the sudden darkness, everyone can sense a sudden and ominous presence lurking in the room, though many do their best to ignore it, hoping it’s merely a planned stunt to get them into the halloween spirit. as the darkness lingers, however, the crowd becomes more and more restless, people moving to leave. immediately, louder sounds of unrest come from the doors, where people trying to slip out find themselves unable to open them. even those with magical means find themselves stepping right back into the room after leaving.
as the secret service begins trying to calm the people and learn what’s happening, a scream sounds throughout the room, and suddenly, the lights snap back on, revealing hordes of monsters straight out of the old fashioned horror movies so many of them celebrated. wolfmen howl as they jump onto their victims, dracula style vampires drain the blood of anyone they can get their hands on, mummies cast their magic and draw in those around them. gill-men and frankenstein creatures tear apart all who get too close, and some are even attacked by invisible men, completely unseen to the eye.
as panic rises and bodies hit the floor, some even are turned into these creatures themselves, only adding to the chaos. it’s a new way to celebrate halloween, and not one anyone wanted or even thought to consider.
at dawn, the creatures will vanish along with the enchantments holding them in the white house, but until then, you’ll need to fight to survive, even if the one coming at you is someone you know and love. if you make it to sunrise, you can escape the night of horrors, but only if you make it to dawn alive. the clock is ticking.
TLDR ; what had originally seemed like a harmless prank to bring some halloween spirit to the night has turned deadly. halloween horror classic monsters have invaded the gala where they were once celebrated, honored, costumes. the exterior doors to the white house now find themselves locked and barricaded, the residents of washington dc now trapped with no hopes of escape. the entirety of the white house has now been opened to the public, in hopes of allowing them a chance to escape the monsters, to give the citizens the best chance of survival. you only have one task now, make it to sunrise. and make sure you do not become one of these creatures.

come on friends, did you really think we could have an entire halloween event without including some kind of chaos? it wouldn’t be a hidden event without something going horribly wrong at an official event! this time around, you’ll be fighting off the universal classic monsters-- so hey, maybe people will think twice about buying those cheap spirit halloween vampire teeth next halloween. either way !! we hope you guys have fun with this, and get to explore your characters in a different way, and we hope this brings some more halloween energy to your lives!!
THE GIST :
monsters have invaded. survive.
it is completely up to you how your character reacts. they could panic, they could look to protect people, they could be having the time of their life getting to fight back, they could be entirely selfish and barricade themselves in a safe room and not let anyone in. the sky is the limit!
technically the front door is the limit, as there is no escape. no magic will work to get people out of the white house. any exterior door is locked and will not reopen until sunrise.
the secret service agents will be doing what they can to calm the situation, to try and usher people to safety but of course, no one could have prepared for this sort of thing. they will be doing their best, but it is on you to protect yourself or not.
THE MONSTERS :
your muses will be attacked by the ‘universal classic monsters’ !! there are multiple of them throughout the white house, so you’re not just fighting against the same dracula, but multiple dracula-style vampires!
the specific monsters are : dracula, wolfman, frankenstein’s monster/bride of frankenstein, creature from the black lagoon, mummies, and the invisible man !! we can provide more information regarding them upon request. (aka dm maig, they have an unhealthy amount of knowledge about this)
your muses can be attacked , injured , turned or killed by these monsters! it is just up to you if you want anything like that to happen !
if you are looking to have your muse suffer a major injury (anything more than a broken bone), or be killed, you must message the main. it’s considered a major plot, and we have to keep track ! we need to know who is dying, what is happening to them, and who the plot will be with ! thanks friends!
please note, for anyone unfamiliar with character deaths within the rp : a character cannot permanently die. they will be resurrected after about an hour~ , but will have the opposite memory status to when they died. unaware characters will become aware, and vice versa!
if you are looking to have your character turned into one of these monsters, again message the main, but just note that at dawn, your muse will return to their original state! they will not stay a vampire/wolfman/etc after the event concludes!

feel free to begin transitioning threads, making new calls, doing whatever you feel is best to organize yourself for this !!
please note, first and foremost that while the event itself is still mandatory, the plot drop is optional. we understand that this might not be everyone’s speed, and you are free to incorporate as much or as little of the plot drop as you wish

the clouds begin to form, the sky is darkening, there is a chill in the air amongst the chaos that have plagued the city for days now. a familiar storm is brewing above and slowly the citizens of dc begin to notice to notice the change in the weather. the air feels alive, as if an electric current is flowing through each and every citizen, both near and far. the loud crash of thunder comes once, a flash of lighting strikes down both on the island and the city. something isn’t quite right, the storm grew too fast, the energy surrounding it causing your hair to stand on end. and then it comes, the same flash of light that some may remember from the first day of this, a blinding light engulfs the city and it’s people, reaching far across those surviving on the island.
as some open there eyes, they look around and see a new ground under their feet. some who stood on concrete now feel the waves of the ocean splash against their feet, and others so used to the sand and thrown as the familiar sidewalks of the city greet them once more. for some, they are able to reunite with loved ones they could only fear the worst of. for others, they’re once more separated from a situation they had grown accustom to. others remain the same, opening their eyes to find just blind spots in their vision as they readjust from the flash of light, returning to however it was they were surviving before with new faces greeting them. but the question remains, how will you fare?
the magic of dc is feeling even more unstable as the island’s disasters wage on, as hordes of monsters continue to flood the city. it’s almost tangible, the way the air feels unsteady, the control the city once had now starting to waver. is this truly the end of the surges? will the city be able to recover from these changes? only time will tell as people settle into the new places they find themselves.
-- the magic of dc is growing more and more unstable, with the surges in magic happening every few months. it cannot seem to contain the power it holds, unable to stop the hordes of monsters from growing, or stop the island’s disastrous clock. things only begin to get worse as the week wages on, leaving to another surge that brings characters to and from different places. some people will be switching between the groups, but who will arrive where? that is yet to be seen, that is until they decide for themselves where they’ll be going.

hi friends !! we are so pleased to see all of the excitement that has surrounded the first half of the event, but of course, this is dc, and nothing ever stays the same for long! the city’s magic is growing increasingly unstable, and it doesn’t seem to have any plans to stop, so of course, that means a little extra spice for you all. we are so excited to add a bit of a mix up for everyone and cannot wait to see how it plays out for the last half of the event! please read on for some information about how the swapping is going to work and we cannot wait to hear from you all!
THE GIST :
there has been a new surge in the magic, and characters are being swapped between both dc and the island. there seems to be no real rhyme or reason for it but certain characters switch between the two groups for the remainder of the event
you may swap out whoever you like between the two groups, but you must have the same amount of characters in each section as you did at the start of the event. meaning, if you wish to swap “character a” to the island, you must bring “character b” to dc in exchange, and so on from a - z depending on your character number!
when you decide who to swap, please message the main either over dms or an ask with the form of “ i will be swapping ___ on the island for ___ in dc ”. you may list your characters or choose only two to swap if you’d like! if you play only one character, you are free to change groups, just please let us know as well!
all in all , your characters are going to have the chance to experience both sides of this, to look for the family they could not find in the city or on the island, or even just get a bit of a fresh start in a new setting of chaos!!

there’s no need to panic. please resume your evening and enjoy the rest of your night. the captain’s words ring out clear, but it’s too late. the dance floor is empty, the area by the bar deserted. for the individuals who are suspected of killing wei wuxian, it’s becoming harder to ignore the pointed stares and whispers. their loved ones defend their innocence, but no trust can be spared to anyone. the word of advice traveling quickly on the odyssey? stay away from those three if you want to stay alive.
as frustrations grow, there’s a silver lining. surely wei wuxian will be able to shed some light on the matter, having firsthand knowledge as to what happened. those familiar with the magic of the city do their best to keep fears under control and reassure people that he’ll be coming back. so many have already been affected by death in the city, and they know well enough that it is not permanent - it only takes some time for things to change. any minute now, they say. any minute and he’ll be back just as he’d been before.
and yet, nothing changes. minutes turn into hours, and wei wuxian still remains lifeless. there’s questions of something being wrong - if they’re too far away from the city, if something’s preventing him from coming back. slowly, a new fear blossoms, for what happens if the resurrections no longer work? what happens now if death is irreversible? but what they don’t know is that the magic of the city, still remaining hidden away as the true culprit, is feeding off of their terrified reactions, growing stronger with each second. it thrives and leans further into the suspense that’s covered the ship since the first scream pierced the air. the goal had been to make death something that was feared once more, and it’s been accomplished with just one person - so there’s no reason to stop.
there’s no warning as the lights drop again, plunging the entirety of the ship into darkness. panic chokes the people on board, knowing exactly what happened before. and when the lights go back up moments later, everyone scans the room, looking for answers. the silence is short-lived, though, as shouts and commotion quickly come from multiple places aboard the ship.
on the upper deck, asami sato desperately tries to see if there’s any signs of life from the body that’s in front of her. identified as eleanor crain by some of the people that rush to help, but it’s clear there’s nothing that can be done. meanwhile, down below in the smaller rooms, kate bishop has been looking for any clues that might exonerate her friend - but ends up stumbling on something far worse. a body, one that’s later recognized as roxanne weasley. as it seems like the fatalities will continue to grow, dale cooper yells for help as he tries to support the weight of gideon prewett in the main stateroom. across the room, ginny weasley can quickly be seen doing the same for yennefer - both of whom are badly injured, but still alive.
the captain makes an announcement that they’ll be turning around immediately and making for the city, as people aboard now require medical attention. and the question finally comes to the only ones who are still standing, eyes on gideon and yennefer - but they saw nothing, and they know nothing. while it’s comforting they’ll be off the ship soon, there’s still concerns. how someone saw felix mckinnon in the same area of the deck by eleanor before the lights went out, how wanda maximoff was the last one seen in the same room where roxanne’s body was found, how gideon had been chatting with dinah lance before the lights outage, how ezra bridger seemed to be moving quickly away from where yennefer was found injured.
as those who are grieving the loss of the people they love struggle to understand, they try to keep hope alive that the magic is still strong enough to bring people back to life. the night is almost over, but it’s a long trip back to the city and things seems to be growing worse with every moment that passes. the only thing left to do is try and make it off this ship alive.
tldr ; surprise !! did you expect things to run smoothly after one murder? why would we ever let people only get hurt once?? the magic is angry, people are still enjoying their nights, and the city of dc just cannot have that. more bodies have been found, more blackouts and suspects. and now two remain gravely injured. the ship is now speeding through the water to make it back to port, can our two injured passengers make it? can you help stop another life from being taken?

well, we figured everyone was calming down, the consequences of death were not seeming as serious as they really ought to be. so, welcome to yet another death plot drop, my friends! we have a few more suspects, a few more bodies, and not a lot of time to make it back to shore. where will your characters be when the boat makes it back? will they still be standing on the deck, or have they already made a backup plan to get the hell out of dodge?
the gist :
similar to the last plot drop, your characters are now aware of the attacks, the magnitude of the situation, but this time, there is no reassuring words, no promises of a nice evening otherwise. panic has fully taken over the odyssey and we can only wish you luck on surviving to shore.

aboard the ship, the pier is out of sight and the night seems to be underway. soft melodies play throughout the ship as glasses clink in celebratory cheers and those who dare to brave the chill take a walk upwards onto the deck. water is the only thing around them now, with the stars in the sky glittering above and romance around. everything seems to be going perfectly — and that’s exactly the appearance that was desired.
for those who have lived in the city long enough, they know that the magic of dc is always around, present and ever evolving. and while some have grown accustomed to it and the way that it works, others are still unsuspecting and unaware of the true powers that it holds. it’s easy for those who have been affected by it to learn and to prepare themselves for what can be thrown at them. they know how it works and what to anticipate, believing that they’re setting themselves up for success. those who hold the magic believe that the citizens of dc have grown too comfortable — these citizens know that once enough time has passed, their hearts will begin to beat once more and air will fill their lungs again. death is no longer feared as it should be, and this night will put an end to those feelings. shadows obscure a figure in one of the roped off staterooms, smiled to themselves as they’re infused with the magic of dc and ready to set this plan into play.
in the main stateroom, the crew has begun to set things up for the dinner hour, plates being arranged at the tables as the guests linger around the bar or fill their time with exploring and mingling with one another. drinks are flowing and people have flocked to the dance floor as the music continues to play on. without any warning, the lights flicker briefly, before enshrouding the boat in complete darkness. murmurs of what’s happening fill the air as people fumble to try and turn their phone flashlights on. just before the lights come back on, though, a loud scream can be heard from one of the smaller staterooms, leading anyone in the vicinity to come running.
the scream has come from none other than isabelle lightwood and she stands in shock, speechless and eyes fixated across the empty room. luke patterson has moved quickly as he’s heard the commotion from just a few steps outside the room, seeing the sight that’s unfolded in front of them.
darkness had enshrouded everyone and everything, so there’s no telling as to what has happened. but what they see paints enough of a picture - in the center of the room, ewan mckinnon, klaus mikaelson and billy kaplan are seen standing, looking back and forth as they try and figure out what’s happened. confusion etched across all of their faces, they belatedly notice what’s happened right in front of them. the lifeless body of wei wuxian lays there, killed in cold blood - and between them is what seems to be the murder weapon. just like that, a crime scene has unfolded aboard the odyssey. there’s no clues around, nothing to insinuate that anyone else was in the room - only these three individuals , and that’s enough for people to begin to talking.
as the lights have gone back on, word has already travelled quickly amongst the passengers, spreading the information of how a casualty has happened on the ship. someone’s been killed, and the guilty party must be on board. the captain comes over the intercom, alerting the passengers that they will not be moving any further to ensure that everyone is accounted for. any law enforcement, including the secret service who are aboard the ship, are asked to be on guard and begin to look into the potential suspects. meanwhile, the body of wei wuxian remains still, everyone waiting for them to come back to life as it always happens.
but the damage is already done. even as the captain encourages people to not worry and return to their evening, it’s too late. people cast suspicious glances at one another, hushed whispers are heard behind one another’s back. there’s a dark cloud that’s fallen over the ship, as a night of merriment has turned into one of tragedy. who aboard this ship is possible of murder? who would be so brazen to kill someone in the midst of this party?
no one is safe, and everyone is guilty until proven innocent.
tldr : did you really think we would have let you all get away with just a night of harmless fun and flirting? this is washington after all, where shadows lurk around every corner and the magic acts upon it’s own accord. there’s been a murder. wei wuxian ( @mvsicinthedvrk ) has been murdered. three suspects are seen at the place of the crime ; ewan mckinnon ( @woundedwrldd ) , klaus mikaelson ( @lcxstsouls ) and billy kaplan ( @recklcssabandon ). our only witnesses? isabelle lightwood ( @drvcxrys ) and luke patterson ( @cosmicstcrms ). panic has taken over the ship, distrust clouds every conversation. all that’s left to do now is solve the mystery, or perhaps wei wuxian will have some information when he awake.... only time will tell.

It’s getting late, and the Winter Ball is in full swing. The ball is more like a party; people are drinking, exchanging presents, dancing even beyond the allotted dancing time period. Santa has surprisingly been the life of the party, handing out gifts left and right, and posing for pictures even with the most drunk guests. The president has outdone herself this time.
At the peak of the party, at ten pm, it’s time for the president to deliver her holiday speech. The city listens with rapt attention as she addresses them with thanks and well wishes.
"first and foremost i would like thank you all for coming, for braving the weather tonight and joining us in what i hope to become a holiday tradition for washington. as i’m sure most of you know, i am president leia organa, and it has been an honor to get to know as many as i can tonight, to hear your stories, know more about your lives. every bit of information helps me to become a better leader for all of you. this past year has been hard on us all, we as a community have braved so much, held each other up in times of struggle and i had wanted to give back to all of you, to show how deeply we appreciate each and every member of this city. the white house holds a par---”
But something strange happens, cutting Leia off mid-sentence. The lights flicker, the room darkens, and everyone can sense it. Something is off. Only a few people notice at first that the man who was playing Santa has suddenly slumped over. His suit looks darker, now, his beard less full, more scraggly. It’s almost impossible to tell that he’s breathing – his back goes up and down slowly, his whole body trembling. Someone even dares to step up to him, see what’s wrong – but they catch sight of his face and stop short.
Everyone looks around, nervous – at each other, at the president. They want an explanation, an assurance that the chill they’re all feeling just came from an open vent. A low, blood-chilling laugh, cruel and empty, echoes throughout the ballroom.
A loud thump on the rooftop.
The thing that once was Santa rises, tall and hooved, sunken eyes and skin stretched over a long, haunting frame. Its mouth is twisted into a grotesque smile, teeth crooked and pointed. Spindly hands and long, bony fingers stretched out from the sleeve of its dark, stained red robe.
Fear breaks out. Someone tries leaving by the doors, but they are locked. They try breaking the window, but everything bounces off them like they’re made of rubber. The temperature drops lower and lower. Krampus moves its way through the crowd, the only sound its footsteps as hoof meets marble. Anyone who tries to attack it is thrown back like a rag doll, lucky to be alive. It’s only a matter of time. Everyone must face it. Everyone’s time will come.
The White House is sealed. There is no escape.
Scattered throughout the grounds of the Presidential palace are the towns worst fears brought to life. They are impossible, horrifying, grotesque and twisted, but for this one night, they exist, and they are deadly.
It is up to you to survive tonight. Krampus will leave come morning light – will you walk free, stumble home in a horrified daze, holding your hand up against the bright sunlight, or will Washington D.C. be another snow globe in a collection of lost families and towns?
tldr ; hello and welcome to hidden’s first plot drop! we decided to give the winter ball a bit of a twist, and throw in some of that classic hidden event vibe. what better way than krampus?? he has taken the place of the beloved santa currently at the ball, and for one night, there is no escaping. the doors and windows are locked, not even the secret emergency exits are of use. fears, nightmares and horrors come to life. your characters worst fears are coming true right before their very eyes. can they survive the night?

as stated above these nightmares can turn deadly, and as always, please inform us if your character will be succumbing to the horrors and not making it through the night so we may update the memory status on the main
each nightmare is unique to those seeing them, characters worst fears coming to life right before their very eyes. what will your character see? what will be brought to life here in the white house?
all the exit doors are locked, no one can leave until the morning. the rooms that were once locked are now reopened, security trying to keep everyone as calm and controlled as possible.
feel free to now start incorporating the plot drop into your current replies, as you do not need to drop any from the first week, either continue them and wrap them up, or bring krampus into them! this section of the event will bring us to the close next sunday!
we will be allowing, once more, a free starter for all muns for today. as always you are allowed to post one starter, per mun. not per character! and if we see the starter tag become too flooded we will stop this on the spot, so please keep in mind the other starters already in the tag!!
