just a very short Huxling drabble for Fatherâs Day. Enjoy!
---------
It couldnât be too comfortable, nor too good for oneâs airways, to lie sleeping facedown on the couch, yet that was the position Hux found his husband in when he returned from a trip down to the gardens with their children.
Hux had instructed each of them to pick flowers of their own choosing to present to their father, intending to put together a large, celebratory bouquet to surprise him with. Contrary to Kyloâs appearance, he had a soft spot for lovely things, and Hux knew heâd be overjoyed to receive something so simple yet sentimental. But apparently, the allure of the lazy afternoon had been too strong, or his duties too exhausting, because he didnât stir at all in the presence of his family.
Hux thought about waking him up, so that he could see the presents their children had so thoughtfully picked for him, but fatherhood had made Kylo into a heavy sleeper. He places his hands on his waist, drumming his fingers.
âIs papa sleeping?â Leander asks quietly, tugging on Huxâs sleeve. Behind him, the rest of the children cluster around, tittering and jostling each other.
âWe should jump on him and wake him up!â Amelie urged, nearly lunging forward before Hux stayed her with a hand on her shoulder. The emperor smirked, glancing from each of his children to his snoozing husband.
âActually, Iâve got a better idea. Papa doesnât have to be awake in order for you to give him your giftsâŚâ
The children giggled softly and covered their mouths, now invested in keeping quiet and not rousing their father. They so loved their little games.
Hux stood back to observe as his children sneakily mobbed Kylo, his arms crossed and face utterly tickled as they whispered over the best parts of their father to put the flowers on. Nephritâs lovingly crafted crown of green daises settled, naturally, atop the mop of messy black hair, but from there they grew a little more creative. Leander slipped his bundle of orange damsel flowers into Kyloâs loose fist from where it rested on the cushion by his head. Sylmar and Aeon peppered individual blue and yellow maslas down his back, the latter even placing the dead, shiny beetle sheâd found underneath a bush at the end of the trail. Finally Amelie, snickering from behind her hand, placed her large, thorny flame-rose lengthwise atop his behind.
âLovely job, darlings,â Hux pursed his lips in barely stifled amusement, wishing he had his data pad on him so that he could snap a quick image of it. âPapa looks so wonderful wearing all your gifts. Now, letâs get to fixing lunch. Iâm sure heâll be quite hungry once he wakes.â He bent over slightly, ushering his children away from the couch and towards the kitchen. He stole one last look behind him, finally allowing a little breathless titter at the sight.
Kylo snored on, completely unaware.
my boyfriend drew all the huxlings! look at these perfect kids. their parents are so proud c:
Kylo training his older pair of twins in physical combat, using little wooden swords and basic move sets. One day, Kylo gets a little too intense, and Amelie yells and accidentally Force pushes him clean off his feet. Once she realizes what sheâs done she starts crying, thinking papa will be upset, but Kylo is absolutely ecstatic and proud, despite his sore tailbone. His daughter is so strong already and heâs so proud!Â
He spends the rest of the training session trying to get Sylmar to do the same. When Hux returns to their quarters that evening, he finds Kylo beaming despite the bruise on his cheek, and both older twins enjoying huge bowls of ice cream.Â
Aeon, being the most adventurous and curious out of the Huxlings, has discovered all kinds of little hidden areas in the imperial gardens that she likes to visit. Little hollows under rocky outcroppings or clearings between the exotic trees that she likes to explore and play pretend in.Â
One day, Aeon tugs on Kyloâs sleeve and tells him she wants to show him a secret, but he canât tell anyone, not even Hux! Kylo agrees and dutifully follows her as she guides him through the trees in the garden to find a nice little spot right by a gentle tributary running from the imperial pond. Itâs so tranquil, and Kylo can feel the natural thrum of the Force around them. He sits down beside his daughter and watches her show off all her favorite rocks and dried flowers and little toys made out of sticks that she keeps here.Â
Kylo keeps his promise and doesnât tell Hux or any of Aeonâs siblings about their secret spot. Hux does notice that Kylo and Aeon keep disappearing at the same time, but he has no reason to be worried as long as his husband is with their daughter. Heâs curious, of course, but Kyloâs lips are sealed! Heâll only take Hux to the spot once Aeon says itâs okay. For now, she just likes spending quiet time with her papa, playing with him and napping in his arms when she gets drowsy in the afternoon sun.

Happy (early) Mothers Day! Decided to try to combine these prompts for something small and fluffy. Hope you both like!
By the time Kylo walks into the kitchen, itâs already too late.
The entire place is a mess, from wall to wall. Bags of flour and sugar spill all over the counters, and what looks like half a carton of eggs lie smashed all over the floor. Each compartment of the sink sits full of dirty dishes, bowls, and other miscellaneous kitchenware, as if each had been used once then discarded. And in the middle of it stand all four of his children, their little matching pajamas similarly splattered and stained as they look sheepishly up at him.
For a moment, Kylo can only marvel at how quickly they conjured such a mess. Heâd only been gone on his security check for little over an hour at best, and when heâd left all of them had been sound asleep in their respective beds. Or at least, thatâs what heâd believed.
âPapa, stop!â Amelie cries, running up to him and placing her little hands on his tunic, leaving prints of flour all over the black fabric. âDonât look!â
Itâs far too late for that, and even his oldest child isnât nearly tall enough to block him from observing the disorder in the kitchen. He shakes his head, though more amused than admonishing.
âWhat have you four been up to, exactly?â Kylo asks in a soft voice, hunching over a bit as he ruffles his hand through Amelieâs bedhead.
âWe were planning on making breakfast for Mama, âcause heâs tired with the baby, but itâs kinda hardâŚâ Aeon flings her arms out, indicating all the mess, as if Kylo has somehow missed it.
âUh huh. I can see thereâs been some trouble.â He pats Amelie lightly on the shoulder, getting her to move back towards her siblings as he sweeps further into the kitchen, carefully stepping over a cup measure one of the children had apparently been pouring milk into, unable to hold both it and the carton at the same time.
Thankfully, it doesnât look like any of them had been able to figure out how to turn on the oven or stove. If they had, Kylo canât even begin to imagine the earful he wouldâve gotten from Hux.
If you're still taking prompts, I would love any of the Huxlings interrupting Hux during Very Important Diplomat Time. The Huxlings give me life.
I hope this is okay! I thought to use Leander, because he would definitely be the one to interrupt the most....
Hux is on day two of negotiations with the visiting Celanite traders, and heâs about ready to rip his hair out and toss his circlet upon the floor.
He knew they would be difficult, especially considering what Hux is trying to get them to agree toâsole rights to a recent, bountiful source of rock ivory, perfect for the new armada of destroyers his empire is trying to get off the groundâbut even he didnât realize theyâd be this obstinate. His patience is wearing thin by the second, and the beige coloring of the meeting room walls is starting to make him sick.
Once Huxâs through with this, heâll have to redecorate the entire place, to at least give him something noteworthy to look at when when particularly difficult dignitaries decide to chase negotiations around in circles.
But it isnât just their stubbornness with respect to the actual business at hand thatâs bothering Hux. He can deal with hard-headed middlemen, his sharp tongue when it comes to talking his way into what he wants. But deliberate, personal slights are an entirely different matter to contend with.
Celanites, as it turns out, lack the three-type biology common to other humanoids, but even so they know of Huxâs status, the fact that heâd been the one to birth his children, and they very clearly think less of him for it. Hux had caught one of them speaking under his breath, a word Hux wishes he didnât know in their languageâshâyulka.
Breeder.
âItâs simply not intelligent for us to constrain our exports to one power.â The head of the Celanite contingent sniffs at the air, triangular ears pointed up straight and alert. âSurely you can comprehend our reticence.â
âOf course I can,â Hux says, doing his best to hide the bristling he feels beneath his official raiment. He doesnât like this oneâs tone, thereâs something more there than a voice just unused to the Basic tongue. âBut I can assure you and your leaders that youâll be compensated handsomely for the rights. You wonât be lacking in funds, as thereâs none in the galaxy that can enrich your planet the way the Empire can.â
âThe Empire is also known for taking advantage of exclusive trading rights, draining all influence and benefit from their alleged partners.â The Celanite looks past his long, wispy eyebrows and down a long snout at Hux, as heâs done since the very moment they met. He keeps sniffing, too, as if to affirm to himself that a man of little concern. Hux finds it irritatingâare these greedy dogs so conceited they havenât heard of his conquests? How he claimed the First Order, then the galaxy for himself, and defended that claim against all insurrection and discontent? Perhaps they assume Hux has others working behind the scenes, propping him up as a puppet and an appealing face.
Hux and Leander! Just wanted to draw them.
