I just came across this project I did in 2012, One Of Fifty, in which I challenged myself to make, well, fifty little paintings in [forgotten unit of time]. Looking over them cracked me up--perfect exemplars of a sort of work I don't really do anymore, but you can grab little strings and pull them right to the present-- not jetsam of the past, but rather forebears of the present. I don't do the character-based work so much, but it warms my cockles to see them-- I was having fun without concern for end result, which is something I have to strenuously remind myself to do. Each piece is 3 x 4.5" (which knocks me out, since that's the size of that little art book I just completed), mostly gouache on paper. #fbf #gouache #vanitas #noseflute #huutmuut #flickrdays
