Jason stared down the floor as he listened to his phone vibrating on his desk. He did not feel like answering it. Then again, he probably should, or else he might cause trouble for himself. Unless he wanted the entire Dead Apple mafia coming for him.
He breathed out, slowly getting up.
For a moment he just stared at the phone, before picking it up. His eyes focused on the number flashing on the screen.
He reached out to it, before hesitating a moment.
In that moment the phone stopped ringing. He actually just wanted to ignore his phone again.
The phone started ringing again and Jason lifted it as he answered.
"What do you want?" he asked, his voice dull and emotionless.
"What are you doing?" a voice snapped on the other side. It sounded like the Imp, just his luck "Why the hell haven't you been answering your phone?"
"Fuck off Imp" he said, voice still without any emotions "What do you want?"
"The boss' been looking for you. Where the hell have you been?"
"That has nothing to do with you" Jason said.
He did not even have the energy to argue with the Imp. Which was usually his favourite pass time.
"You better come in before things gets even worse for you" the Imp snapped.
"I really don't fucking care" Jason said flatly "I'll come in as soon as I want"
With that he hung up, before the Imp could say anything else. Jason just dropped the phone on his bed, before sitting down. He stared down at his hands again.
It would probably be a good idea for him to leave. He slowly got up, grabbed the phone, before leaving his room.
There were no other sounds in the apartment, so he was sure that Rowan and Mike weren't home. That meant he could leave without having to explain anything to the two of them.
That was good.
He grabbed his keys and left the apartment. The moment he stepped out of the apartment, he stopped.
This was the first time he left the apartment without Mike or Rowan, since the incident, and the first time since the agency's party. And that was almost two weeks ago.
He didn't even change his clothes. Which meant that he didn't look like he usually would when he goes out as Luca.
This was probably a very bad idea.
Jason took a few deep breaths, before he started walking again. One hand started to tap against his leg as he walked. Without thinking he just kept on walking.
***
It didn't take long before a car stopped next to him in the road.
Jason lifted his hand flipping the driver off as he kept on walking. He did not feel like getting into the car.
The car moved next to him for a few more meters, before the window rolled down. Busha was driving, which did not surprise him. Malcom was sitting in the passenger seat, which did surprise him.
"Sir..." Malcom said.
"Fuck off" Luca said as he kept walking. Immediately he heard Malcom sigh. As he walked a broken branch caught his attention. Immediately he snapped off the branch and threw it through the window at Malcom.
Malcom let out a surprised yelp, cussing.
"What the hell?" he yelled.
Luca shrugged as he kept walking. He did not feel like talking to them, still pissed, angry and not feeling like his thoughts were completely clear.
"Fuck off" Luca said again.
The car kept on following him.
"Do you plan on walking all the way to the HQ?" Malcom asked.
Luca shot a flat look at the man. "Just fucking don't" he said "Get lost"
Malcom sighed. "Sir...." he said, sounding tired "Please?"
A small group of people walked past Luca, one of them holding a cup. Luca snatched the cup from the guy's hand before dunking it into the car.
"What the hell is wrong with you today?" Malcom yelped, as liquid dripped down his hair. He wiped the liquid from his face, glaring at Luca.
"Roll up your fucking window and piss off" Luca said as he shot a glare at the guy who's drink he took "Don't fucking say anything"
The guy glared back, but did not say anything as he left.
Luca turned back in the direction he was going, and he started walking again. The car was still following. It annoyed him with every step that he took.
Going out was not a good idea, but he couldn't put this off anymore.
Today might not have been his best choice.
"Sir...." Malcom tried again.
Luca stopped and turned to Malcom. "If you don't fucking shut up, I will fucking punch you" he said "Got that?"
Malcom stared at him for a moment. "Then we will just ride besides you, Sir" he said, looking mad as well.
Luca flipped him off, but did not say anything else, he just kept walking. His hand still tapping against his leg. The walking should help him to calm down a bit and by the time he reaches the HQ, maybe he'll be have some of his self control back.
His hands trembled as he walked.
The sound of the car next to him, just kept going, following him as he moved. It was going to take him some time before he reaches the HQ. He didn't want to take the car, because firstly he was so wound up that the slightest thing would set him off. It also did not feel like he'd be able to concentrate on much.
When they finally reached the HQ, Malcom and Busha immediately got out of the car and went over to Luca, who ignored them as he walked into the building.
"Well you took your fucking time" the Imp said as he saw Luca.
With a blank expression on his face, Luca walked over to the Imp. "Keep your mouth shut" he said slowly "Before I shut it for you..... got that?"
The Imp narrowed his eyes as Luca. "What the fuck is wrong with you?" he asked "You think you can just disappear for two month and no one knows where you went?"
Luca stared at him for a moment, before he lashed out, punching the Imp in the face.
Immediately the Imp stumbled back.
With a blank expression, Luca turned and started towards his office.
"What the fuck is wrong with you?" the Imp snarled after him.
Luca just lifted his hand, flipping the Imp off as he continued walking. Shocked silence fell over everyone in the lobby.
"He is not okay...." Malcom muttered as he watched Luca leave.
Busha nodded. "There's something very wrong...." he said, looking around "Where's Henry?
Malcom shook his head. "The boss borrowed him" he said "I don't know when he'll be back. We should follow him, just to make sure he doesn't do anything else impulsive"
Busha sighed. "He's not even been with us for two months and they are already taking him" he said.
***
Luca sat down behind his desk, just staring at the door without seeing anything. He probably should not have punched the Imp.
Knocking sounded from the door, but before he could answer, it opened. Huuga stepped into the office, followed by Busha, Malcom and the Imp.
There's no way this was going to end well.
"Luca" Huuga said as he looked at the young lieutenant.
"Sir" Luca said, voice flat and emotionless. Slowly his eyes focused on the Imp, who was still pinching his nose to stop the bleeding. The shadow of a sneer formed on his face, but he did not say anything else.
"Where have you been, Luca?" Huuga asked, as he sat down on one of the chairs, sitting back comfortably.
Luca shrugged. "Home" he said shortly.
"Home?" Huuga asked, with a raised eyebrow "There was no one there, Luca"
"You went looking for me" Luca said, crossing his arms "That's not very nice, Sir. I need some time away from this fucking place"
Huuga just looked at him. Malcom and Busha stared at him with shocked expressions, as if he'd lost his mind. The Imp looked just as shocked, but almost like he wanted it to happen.
"Now now Luca...." Huuga said "just because I like you, doesn't mean that I wouldn't kill you"
Luca stared at him, with the same empty expression as before and then he shrugged.
"The Imp says you've been looking for me, Sir" he said, evenly.
Huuga nodded. "That is right" he said "There is something that I want you to handle for me"
"I'm not in the mood" Luca said.
Malcom and Busha both almost choked from shock. They looked at each other, eyes wide. They had no idea what was going on with the Lieutenant.
"You are refusing to do what I ask?" Huuga asked, a dangerous tone in his voice "You better think carefully about what you're about to say"
The Imp sneered at him.
It took Luca's mind a moment to catch up with what was going on. His thoughts felt slow, but his mind finally caught up with what was going on.
He took a deep breath, before clenching his jaw.
"Apologies, Sir" he said with a tightly controlled voice "Of course I'm not refusing.... what do you want me to do?"
A smile formed on Huuga's face. "Good..." he said as he slowly got up, motioning for Luca to come to him "Why don't you three, give us a moment to talk"
Busha and Malcom glanced at each other, before Luca motioned for them to leave.
The two held open the door for the Imp to make sure that he actually left, before closing it behind them. There was no way that they were going to leave the Imp alone with Luca.
As he was now, Luca would probably say something to make him mad or punch him.
"What is going on with the Lieutenant?" Busha asked "Does he have a death wish or something?"
Malcom shook his head. "I don't know...." he said "He's not himself..."
Busha nodded. "You are right.... He looks sick" he said.
A crash sounded from inside the office before low voices followed. More movement sounded from inside the office. It did not sound good, but there was nothing that they could do.
After a few more minutes, the door opened and Huuga stepped out of the office.
"Take care of your Lieutenant" the giant man said "And make sure that this job get's done"
Busha and Malcom nodded, quickly stepping into the office. Both froze in the door. The two chairs that were in the office, were broken. The computer that was on the desk now lay broken on the floor.
Immediately the two looked for Luca.
Both felt relieved when they saw the Lieutenant, sitting on the couch. There was already a giant bruise forming on the side of his face. His right arm hung limply next to him.
"Sir...?" Malcom asked.
Luca slowly lifted his head. He narrowed his eyes at the two as he got up from the couch.
"Get Henry" he snapped "He's part of my sector now"
Malcom nodded. "Yes, Sir" he said and stepped back as he quickly turned and left, leaving Busha with Luca.
***
"So what's the plan?" Henry asked, looking between Malcom and Busha, before glancing at Luca, who was walking in front of them.
As he walked, Luca would either be tapping against his leg or just randomly pick something up, playing with it for a moment, before throwing it away or something. It was like he had to keep his hands busy. Not just that, it was like everything kept on distracting him.
"We don't have one" Malcom said, frowning worried "He's not looking too good...."
Busha nodded.
"Does he have a death wish or something?" Henry asked "because I heard what he said to Huuga... And what the hell happened?"
"He's still alive..." Malcom said.
"That's very surprising" Busha said "He lucky that he got away from that with just bruises and a dislocated shoulder"
"He didn't break or tear anything?" Henry asked.
"Not that he told us about" Busha said.
Malcom sighed. "We'll get him to Halo when we're finished" he said "Because he will not tell us if it's anything serious"
Henry nodded. "Alright... So we have to make sure he gets checked out" he said "I would not have thought that about him.... I did not take him as someone like that"
Busha and Malcom groaned.
"You have no idea" they said.
Luca turned into another street, before stopping. It took a moment before he started moving again, causing the other three to look a bit worried.
"Sir?" Malcom said "Is everything alright?"
Luca ignored him as he kept walking. "Another block..." he muttered to himself.
He did not really want to go out. After Huuga threw him around in the office, his body was not happy with him. He now had a pounding headache, from where he got his face slammed into the desk.
And then his arm. Huuga broke one of the chairs on his arm, before dislocating it. His arm was going to be badly bruised for a long time.
Now he had to go check out a night club that Huuga wanted.
At the moment he just felt like he should have let Huuga take his head off instead of agreeing to do this.
Maybe he did have a death wish at the moment.
Never mind that. Luca shook his head as he finally reached the night club. Huuga put him in charge of all of the new night clubs and this one's been causing a lot of trouble.
With groan he, pushed open the club doors.
He ignored the looks the people inside gave him as he walked to the bar. This was not his type of place, nor did he look like someone that belonged here.
"Where's Zander?" he asked the barman.
For a moment the barman just stared at him. "Get out of here, boy" he said "You don't belong here"
Luca breathed out. "Where.... Is.... Zander?" he asked slowly.
"Look here you fucking brat" the barman said "Get the hell out of here before I have you thrown out on your ass"
"Why don't you try?" Luca said, eyes gleaming slightly. He could hear Malcom, Henry and Busha groan behind him.
The barman narrowed his eyes at Luca before he put down the glass he was working on and stepped away from the bar towards Luca.
"Wow there" Malcom quickly said stepping between the two. He was not going to let Luca get into another fight. It probably wouldn't end well for the barman, but then again, Luca looked like shit.
"We don't want trouble" Henry said before shrugging "Maybe a little trouble... Now tell us where is Zander, our boss sent us to talk to him"
The barman stopped for a moment, narrowing his eyes at Henry.
"Fine..." the barman said as he started moving away.
"Spoil sport..." Luca muttered, as he sat down at the bar. He was starting to feel a bit lightheaded.
"What the hell is wrong with you, Sir?" Malcom asked "Are trying to pick fights with everyone?"
Luca just looked at him with a flat expression, before leaning forward on the bar, his head in his hands. He was so tired all of a sudden. After this he's going to go back home and just sleep.
Or try to sleep.
He listened to Malcom, Henry and Busha quietly whispering behind him. It was obvious what they were talking about, but that didn't matter.
After a few more minutes, the barman walked up to them again, followed by another guy.
"These are the guys?" the other guy asked as they reached them.
Luca slowly turned in his chair, leaning with his elbow on the bar. A slow smirk formed on his face as he waved at the man.
"Hey Zander" he said.
Zander stopped, narrowing his eyes at Luca. "What are you doing here?" he snapped.
"You don't look very happy to see me, Zander" Luca said.
"No one is ever happy to see one of Huuga's Lieutenants here" Zander said, crossing his arms "Why are you here?"
Luca smiled, but the rest of his expression stayed blank. "You haven't been paying the last few months" he said "I'm collecting"
"We're not paying you anymore" Zander said.
"I really don't care" Luca said "Now you either pay.... Or you will not like what I'm going to do next"
Zander clenched his jaw. "I'm not paying you people anything" he said.
Luca sighed and motioned the barman over as he reached into his jacket, taking out some papers.
"You look smart enough to read..." he said "Why do you tell your boss what's on that paper"
The man took the papers.
His eyes flashed over it, before looking at Luca. The Lieutenant nodded, but didn't say anything, which surprised the three that came with him.
"What is that?" Zander asked, grabbing the papers from the barman. His eyes flickered over the papers before focusing on Luca again "What the FUCK is this? You cannot do this"
Luca just shrugged. "I can do what ever the fuck I want and there's nothing you can do to stop me" he said "Now you better pack up and get the fuck out before I remove you, from my club"
"You cannot do this...." Zander said.
"You were the fucking moron that made a deal with Mister Huuga" Luca said "You cannot take it back now... He buys you the place and you pay him... You've missed nine months of payment... Saying that mister Huuga had been generous is putting it mildly. Now if you want to fight me over this, I will gladly oblige. In fact I'd be very glad if you do"
"Sir...." Malcom said quietly.
Zander was shaking with anger.
"That bastard..." he snarled.
Luca just sneered at him. "Now move" he said.
"No..." Zander said as the rest of his staff gathered with him.
"just let me get this clear... All of you are standing with him?" Lucas asked, motioning to everyone.
They all nodded.
Luca grinned, as he cracked his knuckles. "If you can get pass me.... you can leave" he said "Otherwise, you're now working for me"
"You.... are going to take over?" Zander asked with shocked expression.
"You've got a problem with that?" Luca asked stepping up to Zander.
"What are you doing, Sir?" Henry asked from behind.
Zander glared at Luca.
Luca breathed out and stepped back. Huuga ordered him to take care of this with as little violence as possible. That probably meant that he could not beat up the entire staff of the club.
"Promise I'll be a good boss" he said.
Zander watched him for a moment, before he nodded. "Alright" he said.
"Well.... We're not staying" some of the others said.
That made Luca grin. "Bring it" he said as the first man rushed him. Luca spun, kicking the man in the throat.
The next one tried to grab Luca's arm, but he elbowed the guy in the stomach, before throwing him into one of the others. With quick movements he hit two other, before throwing one into the ground. As he stepped back, no one stepped up to him again.
"Are we done now?" Luca asked, feeling his arm and face throbbing.
"You are crazy" Zander said, staring at Luca with wide eyes.
"If you do what you're told.... We'll get along great" Luca said.
***
Jason closed the door behind him and leaned against it. He was so tired at the moment. All he wanted to do was to sit down and sleep.
His face hurt, his shoulder hurt, his arm, even his brain hurt at the moment. He should have ignored the call, then he wouldn't have felt so terrible. Shaking his head he just went to sit down on the couch.
He curled up, turning the tv on.
Immediately sound filled the apartment. It didn't take long before Jason's eyes started closing and he slowly drifted off to sleep.
His phone rang, but he did not wake up.
Knocking sounded from the door, causing Jason to flinch awake.
"...who's there.....?" he muttered, slowly sitting up, rubbing his hand over his eyes.
"Jay... It's me..." a girl's voice said the other side.
"...It's open... I think..." Jason said as he got up, incase he really did lock the door.
The door opened, revealing a red haired young woman.
"Sammy...." Jason said with a slight smile.
Sam stepped inside, closing the door. She smiled as she turned to him. "Hey... I heard you went out today?" she said "How are you feeling?"
"..I'm tired" Jason said, just walking over to her, resting his head on her shoulder.
"Jason...." Sam said slowly, brushing his hair back.
"Hhhmmm?"
"What happened to your face?"
"Got hit.... With a table...." he said slowly.
Sam sighed. "What did you do?" She asked softly, moving a bit so that he had to lift his head. With a sigh she took his face into her hands, tilting his head so that she could see the bruising. "You stupid man.... That's looks terrible...."
".... Haven't looked in a mirror yet..." Jason said, avoiding her eyes.
Sam nodded. "Alright...." she said "I'm going to put some ointment on it..."
"Thank you.... Sammy" he muttered.
Gently Sam pulled Jason into her arms. "It's okay, Jay.... It's gonna be alright..." she said softly "You're alright..."
Jason took a shaky breath as he hugged her back. ".... I'm sorry...." he whispered.
They both knew that he was lying about what happened. So all he could do was to apologize to her. Maybe one day she'll be able to forgive him for lying to her.
"It's okay...." Sam whispered again.
