Before Harvey and Canela, I had always been afraid of dogs, growing up in the most under represented Chicano border community, dogs owners didn’t have the means to care for them. Walking to school everyday, I was often terrorized by dogs on the street, as they barked and ran after me. Needless to say, I grew up frightened of them. I had never seen or known of dogs living indoors, being under privileged is a different world, dogs belonged outside. Until I moved to indiana it’s when I realize how much dogs were a part of families, I still thought of it absurd. Then Harvey and Canela came into my life, thanks to Phoenix, I grew to love them like my own. I learned to appreciate their loyalty and their constant love without judgement. They have taught me so much. Then I became a victim of a dog attack, by a person I thought my friend, unleashed her furious dog on me. I am still healing, my wounds are finally closed and scaring, but my heart is broken and I’m dealing with the betrayal one day at a time. The doctor said I was lucky it didn’t kill me:( #missingCanela #huskeysofinstagram #huskeylove #healing #dogbite #dogstagram #ilovemydogs (at Indianapolis, Indiana) https://www.instagram.com/p/B5Vu43UgOWR/?igshid=1lnm0ic3jjayf
