An hórreo is a typical granary from the northwest of the Iberian Peninsula (mainly Galicia🇪🇦, Asturias and Northern Portugal🇵🇹), built in wood or stone🗿, raised from the ground (to keep rodents out) by pillars (pegollos in Asturian, esteos in Galician, espigueiros Portuguese, abearriak in Basque) ending in flat staddle stones (vira-ratos in Galician, mueles or tornarratos in Asturian, or zubiluzea in Basque) to keep the crop dry & prevent access by rodents. Ventilation is allowed by the slits in its walls. When I first saw those mysterious coffins⚰️, I thought they were tombs⚱️, but I was quickly corrected by @ Still, they look amazing and are an important part of Portuguese and Spanish heritage, dating back to the 13th century, being made in a Gothic style 😁👌 -- #hórreos #horriu #horru #horriu #hurriu #hórreo #paneira #canastro #piorno #cabazo #espigueiro #canastro #caniço #hôrreo #garea #garaia #garaixea #granary #granaries #Asturias #Galicia #Basque #NorthernPortugal #Lindoso #Mueles #Tornarratos #Zubiluzea (at Espigueiros Lindoso) https://www.instagram.com/p/COOCRvJpcW3/?igshid=oll6mwel6v3q
