Battlebond: Valor (Chapter 3)
Somewhere outside the Outer Grove
Huritt ran pass his sister then she followed asking, “What did you do?!” His smile half gone said, “nĂtssayi’tsimaa Drow iksamaoko’si.” She scowled at him. He was suppose to be negotiating food and a lookout for Kimi, his human fiance. Peta was somewhat jealous of her brother, all he has to do is grin and people take to him; while she has to force people to respect her at the edge of her sword.Â
Still running with him toward the mountains, she asked “Was it Nittawosew?” With Huritt’s smile completely off his face, she had her answer. They were rare after all, the last two members of their tribe, Burning Nature. Nittawosew was one of the Drow (Dark Elf) leaders that wanted Huritt to join them as penance for their forefather’s treachery and cowardice when they allied with Burning Nature against the Tiefling Brood. Huritt could not accept because of his own personal feelings and also the fact that he kept Peta a secret from everyone and as far as the world is concerned he is the last of the Burning Nature tribe. He even refuses his headdress, letting his sister style and wear it how she saw fit; that way if she were to be spotted they would assume her a man. They were almost to the mountains, when the ground started rumbling. “You got trouble.”, Peta said as she jumped to the trees. They both turned to see a Cowl Prowler.
Before they could make a move a werewolf howled as it slammed into its head out of seemingly nowhere and breaking it. Even though it’s a creature they’ve never seen before other than a spirit wolf, it was still a chance to get away and they took it. Good thing, too, because the Cowl Prowler’s head even though severed from its body woke up and continued to charge at them. They were at the base of the mountain, they waited until it got close enough, both Huritt and Peta yelled “Now!!” and jumped as high as they could. As it crashed into mountainside Huritt cast a spell to burn it and from the flames came red and green birds that carried them up to the top. Birds continue to come from the flames until the Prowler was reduced to nothing.
“I didn’t mean to mess up negotiations... again. But I never let us go hungry.”, Huritt said while reaching for the food the birds brought to them. “So where to now?”, Peta managed to say between bites of food. He spitted seeds off the edge, “To Skygrowth Reach, I think I might have just caused them a problem.”
