They’d been driving in near complete silence for weeks, only talking about things that pertained to jobs, pretending things were normal otherwise, and Dawn was sick of it. Summers girls did not shy away from confrontation and unfortunately for Sam, this time would be no different. She’d made him pull over at a gas station, claiming the need for a pit stop, which was partially true, except she wasn’t stopping for snacks this time.
A few minutes later, she emerges victorious with a brown paper bag and heads back to the car, wrenching open the back door and crawling into the back, ignoring his confusion. If she had her way, neither of them were going to be in any state to drive soon. Pulling her trophy from the bag, she wiggles the bottle of tequila between the seats, beckoning him to join her.
“Get back here. We’re gonna drink, we’re gonna talk, and we’re gonna settle this.”
