@knightfeared said - āThere are questions I canāt ask.ā Though itās casually spoken, there is a telling, if subtlyfrustrated furrow notching between his brows. He didnāt have all the answers, knows damned well providing even what he did know would do little to change the outcome of this attack. But Trevor knew enough to know when not to question things, to just find a work around to push through them or set up countering measure so things wouldnāt escalate again. With a slow glance cast back the girls way, he eases a bit, something vaguely apologetic flickering across tensed features as the Hunter turns, continuing to retrieve all the fallen daggers from his prior fight. She was new to this, simply curious, not in a malicious way from what he could glean. Wetting at his dried, chapped lips, though the Belmont tastes blood, itās all too easy to ignore it as he continues in a dipping, whispered tone, one that eases away the usual carried gruffness with a rare bit of kinder ease. āSometimes itās better that way ā safer. You should take note.ā
She blinked, surprised by his advice. Itās safer to not question some things? That makes no sense to her, but heās experienced where she is brand new to this life. Heās managed to survive where others arenāt so lucky. Even if it goes against her endless curiosity, she decides to accept his guidance without question.Ā
Heās doing what he can to teach her. Protect her. Sheās grateful. She simply nods, offering him a faint smile and two of his daggers sheād retrieved. Blue eyes take in the little battlefield and not for the first time she questions if sheās doing the right thing.
Is she strong enough to make a difference? Sheāll try.Ā
āNow what?ā she asks, leaving her hundreds of questions unasked.

Her car roars to life, but jolts as he slams his hand against the door. Itās definitely dented, but she doesnāt care. Sheās inside and heās out there. She still has a chance to escape him and get help. āLeft my oven on,ā she barked, the lie blatant, but apparently humor was where she went in dire situations. It was a coping mechanism.
She threw her car into gear and floored it. Tires squealed and the engine howled in protest. Hopefully she didnāt blow her transmission doing this, but sheād worry about her old car later.
She lurches forward before the tires seem to really catch the asphalt and then sheās off, rocketing down the street. Someone has undoubtedly looked outside by now because of the gunshots. The police will be on the scene before long, but sheās going to be long gone.
Heart racing, she checks to see if heās following, but thereās no trace of him. Heās vanished. That canāt be good, but she needs to focus on driving. While she tears down the street, tires screaming as she takes a turn too fast, she is headed for the highway, fumbling for her phone on the way to call for help. Or to at least let someone know where she is and what sheās found.
@itstimetorambleonā said - ā i told you not to go in alone! ā
āI didnāt have time to wait for you!ā she barked back, glaring. āIt all worked out,ā she frowned, avoiding his gaze because it very nearly didnāt go well. If it hadnāt been for him everything would have gone to shit and he very likely would have found her body. She felt her cheeks burn in shame as she glanced up at him before turning her attention back to cleaning her gun.
She could feel his eyes on her and knew what was coming; she wanted to beat him to it. āIām sorry alright?ā she snapped, looking up at him, cheeks red. She couldnāt look any more guilty if she tried.

She watched the man or rather the being sheād thought to be a man with wide eyes, a pit forming in her stomach. He was a demon? For a moment she was frozen, dread gripping her heart in its icy claws, but one of the rabid locals lunged at her, forcing her into action.
These people were monsters in the biblical sense, but it seemed that they were in the very real and very human way. She felt as though she had little choice in the matter. It was either them or her. Frowning, she leveled her shotgun on the nearest person, blasting them away. With no time to reload, she dropped the shotgun and pulled her pistol, firing, each shot finding its mark as she was forced back, closer to her companion.
āFuck,ā she muttered, throwing a glare his way. That look cost her as she was tackled from the side, her gun going flying. Crying out she moved to fight off the man atop her, reaching for her knife even as his grubby hands wrapped around her throat.

She nodded and shifted to sit beside him, shoulder touching his. Magic was likely the only route that could help him ease the pain of what heād endured, but magic wasnāt something she wanted to mess with. She also couldnāt imagine that Nick would be comfortable with such a suggestion.
Without a word she let her head fall to his shoulder, simply trying to be there for him. She considered the options for a moment longer before finally speaking her mind. āThere might be a few options... magic for starters...ā

āMaybe not for you, but I donāt have the luxury of eternity to get over something like you do,ā she frowned, uninterested in another of his lectures. āDonāt you have something else to do besides pester me?ā
People went missing in big cities all the time, but the recent disappearances in her hometown seemed off. She wasn't sure what it was, exactly, but her gut was telling her that she needed to go home. Something was wrong.
Moving into her uncle's old house was easy enough; thankfully no one was renting it at the time. Unfortunately, Melody had no idea what she was looking for. Was she finding supernatural causes where there were none? Only time would tell. Honestly, she hoped that was the case. She'd never faced a monster that felt comfortable in a big city before and she wasn't sure if she'd be able to handle it alone.
Doing her best not to let her mind wander to the worst possibilities, the young hunter went back out to her old wagon to get the last few boxes, humming softly to herself as she went. It was just starting to get really dark and nearby street lights winked on as she closed the back of her wagon, the last box of her meager possessions resting against her hip.
