TIme often eluded the young Guardian; too often was he spending his days circling around the globe, riding the winds as they carried him to his next destination.
He had seen more sunrises and sunsets than he could ever count. Weeks would blend into months, and months into years. Sometimes the only indicator of time he had to go by were his immediate surroundings -- the foliage, or lack thereof. The people, and what they wore. The temperature...from what he was capable of feeling, anyway.
But those methods weren’t always reliable. It varied depending on the location, and the only way he could truly know for sure was whenever he stopped by to visit one of his believers. He knew for a fact that it was still early in the new year, somewhere around January and February, and as he lowered himself closer to a certain city in New York he could easily see the layers of snow covering the ground that confirmed this.
But what he wasn’t expecting were the large amounts of red, pink and white scattered about the entire area. Splashes of the colors could be seen inside the windows of little shops and hanging on hooks outside of doors; floating above people’s heads on little balloons or just below their noses hidden among a bouquet of flowers.
Valentine’s Day, huh? It was a bit later than he had thought, afterall. The corner of his lips quirked up into a hint of a smile -- he felt rather indifferent about the holiday, to be honest. While he didn’t mind seeing people happy and caring for one another, he wasn’t much of one for the mushy lovey-dovey stuff. It just simply wasn’t in his character -- he was the Guardian of fun, the one who pulled pranks and told jokes...not Cupid.
Brushing away those thoughts, he shook his head and focused on the reason why he had come here -- to visit Hunter. He quickly flew through the streets, making sharp turns and cutting through neighborhoods before spotting the familiar house up ahead. His grin widened and he slowly floated up to the window, before lightly tapping on the glass with his finger. “Hunter?” He called out, hoping that she was nearby to hear him.
