I love swanqueen, which is probably because OUAT was terrible at consistent characterization, so it was essentially free real estate. But they absolutely did Hook dirty by âredeemingâ him and essentially turning him into Emma Swanâs hype man. Itâs a crime that he didnât get an equally evil boytoy of his own
Exactly! Like, seriously, Once Upon a Time should have had Emma and Regina as the main couple as Henryâs two moms because that just made way too much sense. Like Iâd have been so down for that. And then, like you said, Hook needed an evil boytoy who actually understood him and would let him be a pirate and not have to conform to domestic life (Jafar please). Hell, while Iâm at it, they should have spared Neal and Graham and had those two be the scruffy sexy two dads. It would have been awesome! Two sets of gay parents, and gay pirate sexy times in the background.
I mean, the straights already had Snowing and Rumbelle. They didnât need CaptainSwan, OutlawQueen, and both Neal and Graham to die for heterosexual romance angst.Â

Graham walked through the door, holding an arm load of bags. âAnyone home?â He sighed when no one bothered to come to the door. âSeriously? Neal, I saw your car in the drive. Darcy, your bike is leaning against the garage.â
âWeâre currently dead,â Darcy called from the living room.
He rolled his eyes and walked in, watching the two obsess over the Switch that Darcy got for Christmas. âOr slaves to a machine. Come on, Iâm not setting up for this party all by myself.â
âItâs not really a party,â Neal pointed out. âItâs just us, Papa, Belle and Gideon.â
âNeal.â Graham gave him a look.
âAlright, alright.â He got up and walked over, grabbing a few bags and pecking his lips.
Darcy pretended to gag. âI donât see what the big deal is, itâs New Yearâs Eve. It happens every year, so what?â
âItâs the start of a new year, anythingâs possible,â Graham said.
âDonât make me gag again.â
He hopped up, grabbing a bag and going into the kitchen. Neal smiled, wrapping an arm around Grahamâs waist.
âI happen to find your optimism very sweet.â
âGlad one of you do.â
âHeâs 13, itâs how they are.â
âDarcy came out of the womb being sarcastic.â
âI suppose thatâs true.â
The next few hours were spent cleaning and setting up the house. Graham had gone a tad overboard with the decorations. Their house looked like it belonged in the center of Times Square, all that was missing was Mariah Carey to do a drunken number.
It wasnât long before Rumple and Belle came with Gideon. He instantly ran over to Darcy, ready to play video games and look over comic books. Neal started pouring out some scotch for his father and Belle, the former of which was looking around the house in mock amazement.
âIâm guessing this was all Grahamâs doing.â
âWhat, Pop? You donât think Iâm capable of this?â
âFor Darcyâs first birthday, you wanted to just stick a candle in a cupcake and call it a day.â
âOkay, so maybe Iâm not as obsessed with the holiday as everyone else.â
Belle chuckled. âJust like your father in that way.â She looked out the window, watching the snow pile on the ground. âItâs really coming down at there. The winds are picking up too.â
âThankfully weâre in here, surrounded by these warm decorations.â
Graham rolled his eyes and threw a cheese cube at his husband. âRumple, Belle, you want a second son back at home?â
âLike you would last five seconds without me,â Neal said, handing out the glasses and making sure to get some soda for the boys.
The truth was, they knew why he was obsessing so much. Something bad always seemed to happen at their parties. Whether it was villains crashing or birthday candles starting a small fire, they seemed to be cursed with being unlucky. They wouldnât let it get them down, though. They had a lot to be thankful for. For once, there were no bad guys knocking down their doors. Everyone else in town was with their families, knowing better than to ask a favor from Rumpelstiltskin over the holidays.
Over that past Christmas, things had been especially stressful. Krampus came to town, ready to wreak havoc on the ânaughty childrenâ of Storybrooke. Darcy and Gideon didnât fall under that category, but they had made Krampusâ list nonetheless. It was up to their parents to save them and they had, just in time for Christmas. Not that it was the kind they were used to.
The upcoming year was one to be celebrated, because nothing could tear them apart this time.
As the night wore on, they all gathered by the T.V to watch the festivities in New York. Gideon and Darcy headed over to the side of the room to go over comics and get away from the âold folkâ. Around 11, however, the power started flickering and soon, it was completely out.
âAw man!â Darcy shouted. âWhat are we supposed to do now?â
âOh come on, this isnât so bad,â Neal said.
âHow are we supposed to watch the ball drop?â
âYou know, in the Enchanted Forest, we didnât have televisions.â
Gideon made a face in the dark. âPapa says that all the time, too.â
âItâs the truth,â Rumple said, getting up. âWe can light a fire, countdown to midnight on the grandfather clock.â
âItâll be just like our first New Year in the Dark Castle,â Belle said, a huge grin on her face as she linked her arm through her husbandâs.
Graham dashed into the kitchen and grabbed some more snacks, while Rumple and Neal started the fire. They all gathered by it, Belle leaning against Rumple, Neal doing the same with Graham. He wrapped his arms around him, kissing his cheek.
âI know this isnât the night you pictured,â Neal whispered.
Graham shrugged, keeping his grip on him. âItâs even better. It reminds me of home.â
âDo you ever wish we could go back there?â
He looked around the room. Rumple and Belle were whispering amongst themselves and the kids were pouring over a comic book by firelight. Ever since the curse broke, there were plenty of times that Graham had wished they could go back. Yet, over the missing year, he had missed Storybrooke as well. It had been where he and Neal fell in love, where Darcy was born.
âNo. Iâm happy here,â Graham said, finally. âThis is where our family is, together.â
Neal smiled, nuzzling his cheek against his. âI have a feeling Papa, Belle and Gideon will be spending the nightâŚbut maybe in a few days we can ring in the New Year how we used to before we had a kid.â
A smirk fell across Grahamâs lips. âSounds like fun.â
Gideon pulled out his phone, looking at the clock app. âWeâve got 11 seconds to midnight.â
The family smiled at each other, counting down together.

Happy New Year!
Graham kissed Neal, who deepened it in return. âTo another happy year,â he whispered.
Neal nodded in agreement. âWho can argue with that?â
Itâs Halloween and Darcy has dressed up as his favorite Ghostbuster. Graham, ever the doting father, canât stop taking pictures. Darcy is less than pleased. @zoe19blink

âIs there something that I can help you with?âÂ
A soothing and heavenly, yet monotonous, voice called out to the girl from the lab. She noticed someone was snooping around and spotted threads of red strands from the corner of her eye. The woman stood out, not because her attire of her lab coat, but her hair. Her hair glimmered like the stars and shared the same hues that mirrored the night sky. Her eyes were navy that contained an expression that didnât show a single emotion emitting from it.Â
âI am very busy, so please be brief on what you need.â
