❗❗❗you can have isee if you would like
When you stood on the verge long enough, you started to enjoy the view.
Alonso didn't know how his guard had been let down so easily, why the appearance of one man had shattered that reserve and skepticism that had kept him alive when everyone else was gone. The hunter reflected on that fact when the muted crackle of the campfire drew him from his sleepy doze, distantly aware of the former Navigator whose side he'd curled into, wishing he had enough pride to not reduce himself to this level of need. He'd gotten used to the scent of Isee's robes, the distant odor of space dust and the aether clinging to the sturdy fabric. What hobbled him the most was the warmth of another person, the steady rise and fall of respiration, the faint sound of a heartbeat he drank in greedily.
He thought he would’ve gotten used to it. Alonso thought that, with time, he would’ve weaned himself from the human need for company. That maybe, like the people who had been gruesomely transfigured into beasts or damned to death, he would evolve in some way, too. And yet, here he was, curled into the side of the masked man who just… let him. Who was stoic and statuesque, glancing down at him, simply allowing it. Alonso didn’t imagine what Isee might have been thinking, because he was another person to Alonso. Like a scavenger, he feasted on the scraps that he could, irrespective of the opinions of the person he fed upon. Hungry for humanity, for companionship, slaking his hunger as much as he could until Isee broke the illusion and reminded him that he was a person, too.
Feeling Isee shift, Alonso’s breath hitched and he anticipated scuttling away once the spell was broken. Instead, Isee’s arm around his shoulder tightened and arrested him in place, Alonso stilling like a wolf with its paw stuck in a bear trap. Waiting for the iron teeth to puncture bone, he winced upon anticipating rejection, but was spellbound instead.
Isee moved his mask to the side, amethyst eyes obscured slightly by flaxen bangs, Alonso stunned as his mouth fell slack. Isee angled his fine profile acutely, capturing the hunter’s lips before he could truly process what was happening. Warmth, moisture, tangibility where it hadn’t existed before. Alonso’s body shuddered and became boneless, sighing hotly into the kiss as he craned longingly for it, oozy with want.
I am a person like you, the kiss said. I am a person, and you will not deny what I am.
Alonso sighed when they withdrew, gaze hazy and mouth slightly parted, panting. Isee’s violet gaze was sharp and studious, hooding knowingly.
No, Alonso couldn’t play make believe. They were both people, and there was no pretending otherwise.
