The air was so cold and dry in the room. The room was dead silent except for the low pitch buzz emanating from the computer. This room seemed unwelcoming to any person who dared to enter; However, you barely noticed as you stared at your creature in the giant container.
His form was still leaning against the wall with his eyes closed. Two black arms wrapped around his thin grey torso. The second and third set was just lightly floating in the liquid as he continued to sleep. A giant smooth tail that laid on top of his first set of arms, allowing his head to lay against it. His grey skin was a lot more muted while slumbering, it seems. A glance over would allow you to think that everything was the same as you left it.
However, there was something new. On his neck were these tiny slits that were moving with his chest. It was unknown to you that the creature contained gills. It was theorized that the creature breathed through the tiny slits sitting below his eyes. Maybe it had to do with something about him being a shift shaper. Was the creature changing his respiratory system while sleeping?
Walking over to the computer, you open the coding program. You couldn’t help how quickly you put in the stop coding for the sleeping medicine. It has been two days since you last saw him due to the weekend and you were just itching to learn more about this fascinating creature.
You fixed your lab coat and walked to the front of the container. Gosh, it felt so nice to do it. You are so used to seeing him floating in the container unconscious that now that you get a chance to interact with him, it was thrilling.
His tail slowly slid off his arms as he shifted in his sleep. He seems to be snuggling into the glass. So he enjoys sleeping. How does his species do their sleeping arrangement? Is it more of a hibernation or daily occurrence?
“...” He let a small grumble as his eyes fluttered open. You were expecting to see a pair of pitch black eyes, but instead they looked quite humanish. In fact, they looked really familiar. Wait a minute.
“Morning, Shark,” you spoke slowly. He looked at you groggily before turning his head around. You could see the confusion on his face. You’ve heard from coworkers that this sometimes happens. “How do you feel, Shark?”
“I had this dream where this beautiful angel was in front of me,” he grumbled as he stretched his arms out in every direction. It was kind of unique the way he had to contort his body in order for his six arms to get that stretch. “And I open my eyes and they’re still there.”
“You dreamed about me so much that you decided to wear my eyes,” you teased. It was odd seeing an alien with such human eyes. So far, most of the aliens usually have odd shaped eyes or none at all. But you guess with Shark, you can’t put him under the category for normal aliens.
“I-what!” His top arm went to his face and rubbed his eyes harshly. Guess he didn’t even notice that he didn’t have his normal eyes. You should document that and see if that’s a constant when he wakes up. “When I said I wanted you on my body, I didn’t mean this.”
Your movement towards the computer stopped as you processed what he said. Did he mean- that’s more of a human phrase- can he even? Your brain is becoming overwhelmed as you unpacked the single sentence. How does he even know that type of language?
“Sorry, sweetheart. Didn’t mean to fluster you like that, even though you look so cute. I’ll tone it down for you,” he explained. He swam up to the top of the tank where he folded his top arms on top of it. A giant smirk was on his face revealing that he most likely didn’t regret his comment.
“You seem to have quite the understatement on the human’s culture.” He manages to talk in perfect English while also using phrases that only people integrated in the culture could understand. Has he been hiding within the humans for a while?
His tail swishing slowly in the liquid made him appear relaxed in his environment. That’s a good sign for most specimens to have. If his behavior continues on this path, he might be able to leave the container and you can gain more data on him that doesn’t involve verbal communication.
“I got it by abducting a human and strapping them to a lab table to eat their brains. I learn the different waves of human’s vocals by their screams of pain. Quite the range, I may say,” he spoke with a glint in his eye.

In Dreams She Comes
Summary: While discussing poetry, the Doctor remembers Rose. Characters: Twelfth Doctor, Bill Potts, Nardole
Rated G
Unbeta’d Author’s Note: This is a departure for me, because I am no poet, and I frankly know nothing about poetry beyond a college level poetry class I took a million years ago, but She Walks in Beauty by Lord Byron got stuck in my head this morning, and this is the result. Obviously, Lord Byron's poem, which I've quoted here, does not belong to me. The Doctor's opinions on Lord Byron's works are his own, and are not necessarily shared by the author. This is intended as a one-shot, and I'm marking it complete, but I may change my mind. Who knows.

She comes to him in dreams, more often now than she has for centuries. No, that's a lie. He's very good at it, lying, particularly to himself; it's a skill he's honed over millennia after all. In truth, not a day has gone by that he hasn't thought of her, at least once or twice, sometimes with the twinge of nostalgia brought on by fresh loss and old age, sometimes with a terrible longing he hadn't believed this incarnation capable of. It was an ironic gift of the blindness, the ability to see her face more clearly now than he had for centuries: on a space station, glowing with the energy of the Vortex; under a black hole, kissing the helmet of his space suit; lying on the floor of the console room, laughing with the sheer joy of living; and most often, in a darkened, war-torn street her lips slowly curling up into a smile, her light blonde hair falling loose upon her shoulders, her brown eyes twinkling as she spotted him.
In his dreams that scene ended differently, with a long-awaited kiss, exuberant because that was who he had been in those days, a kiss filled with the joy of reconciliation and passion for the girl whom he'd believed he'd never see again.
He shut his eyes for a moment, savoring the false memory, and absently traced a finger over his lips. Different lips to be sure, but still his own.
"'She walks in beauty as the night,'" he quoted softly.
"That's Shakespeare, isn't it?" Bill asked from somewhere to the left and slightly behind him.
He started, startled by the sound of her voice. He'd thought himself alone.
"Nah, that'll be Robert Browning," Nardole responded. Ahead of him, six paces. Other side of the console? Possibly. When had they come in, and how had he not noticed? Too lost in his thoughts, he expected. "All that lovey dovey stuff's a bit too sentimental for my taste."
The Doctor reached into an inner pocket of his jacket and pulled out his sonic sunglasses. He slipped them on with an air of nonchalance.
"You're both wrong. It's Lord Byron," he corrected. "One of the greatest poets who ever lived." With the aid of the sunglasses, from his position sitting on the stairs in the TARDIS control room, he could now *see* in front of him the console, its glowing time rotor reaching up to the ceiling, and two humanoid life forms, one standing on the side of the console nearest the door, the other walking across the room towards the console. As he had predicted, Nardole was the one on the far side of the console, his life readings humanish rather than strictly human.
As Bill came to a stop in front of the monitor, the Doctor stood. He tugged at his jacket to straighten it before crossing unerringly to join her. He was getting better at this, he thought, pretending to not be blind. Of course, the glasses helped.
"One of the greatest human poets, maybe," Nardole responded, the skepticism heavy in his voice clearly indicating he didn't think much of Lord Byron, or of human poets in general. Given his attitude on humans in general, it wasn't surprising.
"One of the greatest poets, and not just of humans," the Doctor corrected.
"If you say so," Nardole said dubiously.
"I do say so, and I am the world's utmost authority on poetry."
hiya!! haha i hardly feel i’m an experienced enough skelebro artist to answer this question, but i’m going to try my best to explain how i go about it!!
first off i wanna start with this: there’s no REAL way to “get it right”. the sprites from the original game leave a bit up to interpretation and give plenty of room for artistic freedom! (and the au bros are fanmade, so that’s like, dOUBLE artistic freedom!) the tricky (yet fun!) part comes with them not *really* being shaped like real skeletons, so ppl have to improvise!
1. references and practice are your best friends!!!! (my first drawings of sans and paps look NOTHING like they do today since i ended up drawing and practicing with them soso much). i generally like to search “skeleton anatomy” or “skeletal system” in google images for my refs and use something liiiiike: https://smhttp-aww-17174.nexcesscdn.net/media/catalog/product/cache/9/image/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/A/W/AWW_CH03.JPG
that to help me out! while sans and paps and their au variants are not shaped 100% like a traditional skeleton, you still need a pretty decent understanding of how the skeleton looks so that you can play around with it and adjust it as you see fit when drawing a specific character. i also like to reference other artists!! if i’m stuck and not sure how to go about something, sometimes i’ll look at the way other artists interpreted certain characters and draw inspiration from that! for example, some artists draw orange with downward slanting eyes to make him look more sleepy/lazy/depressed and i liked the way that looked so i adopted that as well! and in regards to papyrus types….
2. pick your papy poison. LOL this title is way more dramatic than it should be and honestly i just wanted the alliteration :P BUT what i mean here is papyrus body types are typically the hardest to draw (at least for me) and part of the reason is THE LITERAL HUNDREDS OF WAYS YOU CAN INTERPRET THAT MOUTH!!! seriously, this has caused me my fair share of anxiety and frustration. SO what i like to do is mix it up. when i said in the beginning that you have artistic freedom to do whatever you wanted, i meant it. you don’t have to keep drawing papy’s mouth consistently at all if u don’t wanna, it all depends on what you’re working on and how u feel (generally tho i keep it consistent within the same work but across separate pieces it’s okay to mix it up). when i’m drawing someone like us paps, i usually like to give him a big ol sansy smile, especially when facing the front. it’s simple and fast, and it doesn’t look bad! you can also give him jaw space or even draw his mouth like papyrus’ in undertale (tho with my style i find that looks odd more often than not)
here’s a pic of two mouth types! (sorry it’s messy and there’s not a lot, I rushed since i have to wake up early tomorrow!)
generally i make us paps’ face pretty dull and rectangular, and the same goes for ut paps! edgy bros like edge and sf papyrus get much more angular and sharpened features, and this can especially be seen in the cheekbones. here’s an older doodle of mine of sf paps from the side
sharp puppy. but yeah! edge bros get pointed chins and jaws and non-edgy boys get softer features. you can do whatever feels best for you though!!
i should wrap this up soon since it’s pretty late but another important thing to consider is:
3. body types. i prefer to draw my sanses a bit on the rounder/chubby and short side and my papyruses on the lanky side. that said, this is where the skeleton references and familiarity become important so you can stretch or compress bones to fit your body type needs without it looking too strange! feel free to add thicker bones onto the sanses if you wanna go for that heavier set look, but keep tabs on your proportions. it helps to draw a rough skeleton (lol) of your pose which includes thickness of the body and placement/length of limbs and posture. if you have trouble drawing chub sometimes like i do, look up some refs! they’ll help out a lot.
what i do sometimes is i’ll draw a humanish body outline, and fill the bones in on the inside! it’s what i did for orange in the kissy requests. he had a fleshed out neck before i erased it so i could see how the positioning of it would work. that’s also my method for hands. kudos to the artists that draw skeletal hands realistically. that is too many bones for me to worry about LOL. what i do is i make a sort of…hand bone?????? i’ll explain. i draw a regular hand and then add lines where the bones would be. pls pretend this isn’t the worst hand you’ve ever seen
so it’s not really how bones work, but it’s simple and it’s what i’m accustomed to. (hint: fingerless gloves are hot and get rid of a lot of your problems with this ;) )
i’m gonna have to end this here but overall, HAVE FUN WITH IT DUDE!!! these characters are hella fun and full of personality! they’re a joy to draw and the less you worry about getting it perfect and just going at it and practicing, the better you’ll become! a good tip for this is doodling! non serious doodling where you don’t feel pressure to make something come out right and can make a ton of mistakes helps you to gain a kind of muscle memory and better perception of how things should look and feel when you draw them. it’s so important to let yourself make mistakes, because you’ll learn from them and get AWESOME at it! good luck to you, my friend, i hope this helped!! <3 <3 <3
ALSO once i get back next week, i’ll probably couple this post with a “speed” paint/draw of my process of drawing a skelebro since i feel that might also help? lemme know if you’d like that!

“Nks Crystals, Splender and Stevenson Visit Kore”
-Two days later.-
[Doc] is feeling mostly recovered and goes to visit Splender. Xe goes to hit the path switch and gets distracted by a school of little fish using the shallow water
[Pinwheel] Is laying out in the sun in the grass-
[Doc] Notices the little dragon and calls to her softly-
[Pinwheel] Her tail flicks in annoyance-
[Doc] Notices the little flick and is reminded of Grinny. - Not gonna bug you, just saying hi.
[Splender] Hears Doc and sticks his head out- Oh! Doc!
[Doc] Hey Splender. Nice to see Pinwheel getting some air. She seems much calmer.
[Splender] - I still try to snuggle her at night
[Doc] I think that's probably okay. Yaunfen loves to snuggle. I think they get a little bit cold with all that bare skin.
[Splender] - So what can I do for you Doc?

[Pinwheel] Jumps into different spots of light-
[Steve] Is she chasing light spots?
[Doc] Maybe?
[Lie] - Do you want some calming flowers for while we're there Doc?
[Doc] For her or me?
[Lie] - You
[Doc] No... I'm good. As long as he's not mad at me I can keep it togeather, especially if Splender is there.
[Lie] - Alright, then should we go?
[Doc] TLOT can you give Pinwheel a good idea what we're doing so she won't fight me and get her response?
[TLOT] Sure. - Projects their small plan and then waits.
[Pinwheel] - NoooOOOoooOOOooo
[TLOT] You don't want to see Splender? Or you're just making noise?
[Pinwheel] - NoooOOOoooOOOooo- She doesn't want to mostly because it's more "fun" outside of his house
[gem] -above pinwheel-
[TLOT] Aw. But we're gonna tell him about you needing your own space and it's just for a visit.
[Pinwheel] Grumbles-
[Doc] It looks like you were having fun racing around in the grass, do you want to take the long way outside?
[Pinwheel] Scratchy ground?
