I feel that these plants are very underrated and do not receive enough attention and praise. Heucheras are hardy down to -20F (USDA Zone 3) and come in a huge spectrum of bright colors. They are a evergreen shrub, so when winter comes and most plantlife looks dried and brown, these guys will still be flourishing with bright colors. Their flowers are small and bell shaped (hence the plant nickname coral bell) and are usually pink or white. As a added bonus, the flowers are very desirable by butterflies, honey bees, and hummingbirds.
