"Oh my god."
With his sweaty chest rising up and down, Jungkook rested his back on your headboard. His eyes rested on the view in front of him. Here you are, catching your breath while your eyes remain closed, still getting off from the high. With your desk lamp being the only source of light in your room, it's a wonder how your face glows in Jungkook's perspective. Your damp hair sticks to your face due to sweat, but Jungkook cannot help but smile like a fool. He feels like a million-dollar lottery winner.
Lucky is an understatement.
Hesitant at first, he lifted his hand to softly tuck your hair behind your ear. Just to see your pretty face more. You slowly opened your eyes, a smile forming on your lips before shaking your head.
"What?" you asked, confused by his silence and the intimate feeling from his stare.
He smiled, "Nothing."
You rolled your eyes, shaking your head again, before getting yourself off his softening cock, "You always act like I'm the best fuck of your life every time we do this."
You are. He almost said it out loud, but instead, a low chuckle escaped his lips as you reached for something in your bedside drawer.
His brows scrunched together. "What's that?"
"Coffee-flavoured candy." You handed him an unwrapped piece before popping one in your mouth.Â
He nodded, playing with the candy in his mouth, "Oh, that's why you tasted like coffee!"
You laughed, playfully nudging his arm, "I always have them lately to help me study. Reviews online say they can help me stay up."
Jungkook watched you get up from the bed and put on your discarded clothes on the floor. You reached for a worn-out scrunchie while gathering your hair. You were in the middle of studying earlier when Jungkook came to "just hang out", which usually means him watching videos on your bed while you read books on your desk. But for some reason, within ten minutes after he arrived, you found yourself on his lap while he planted kisses all over your face down to your neck.Â
"You're still gonna pull an all-nighter?" he asked.
You nodded, tying your hair into a loose bun, âI have to if I want to pass my exams.â
âThe exam is likeâŠâ Jungkook paused, counting in his fingers, âNine days from now.â
âYeah, that means I have less than two weeks to study why Jung and Freud stayed in that room for thirteen hours.â
Jungkook tilted his head, frowning. âWait, who are those guys anyway? Are they ancient lovers?â
You groaned, collapsing into your desk chair. âGod, youâre ridiculous.â
âI mean, Iâm not the one studying for a psych exam. Iâm just here for theâŠâ He reached for another candy on your bedside table. â...benefits.â
âPlease donât take all of my candies, Jeon.â You spun around with your swivel chair, already squinting your eyes at him. âItâs kinda expensive, I wonât be able to buy them again until next week.â
His brow raised, âHow âbout Iâll pay you backââ
âNope,â you clicked your tongue as you began turning the pages of your notes.
âThen, Iâll just buy youââ
âPlease stop offering to buy me stuff, kind sir. It wonât happen. Just please donât eat all of my candies,â you mumbled, now gradually giving all your attention to studying.
Silence slowly took over your room as the only thing that could be heard was your pen being dragged by you on your reviewer. You remained focused, whispering the words you were reading unconsciously. Almost forgetting that there is a naked, tattooed guy on your bed, who already has his eyes on your most recent âsweet indulgenceâ. But as soon as you heard the sound of a candy wrapper in your background, you turned around.
Jungkook, who already popped the sweet treat in his mouth, just smiled cheekily at you, âDonât worry. I promise this is my last one.â
It wasnât.
Jungkook later learned that you have that candy every day in your bag. How did he learned that, one might ask. Because just a day after that night, you gave him a piece after a short make-out session in a bathroom of a frat party.Â
Then, a couple of days after, you handed three of them while he was still recovering from a backseat car fun you two had. He was still in his post-nut clarity while you were already getting your purse to get something. Jungkook remembered how his heart skipped when you wordlessly placed the candies in his open palm.
Another time was when you stayed in his house for a day, âjust wanting to chillâ. But after getting bent over his kitchen counter for more than ten minutes, you casually left five candies on it before going to his shower.
It was sweet, Jungkook thought, like an intimate routine that you two donât have to talk about. You didnât really say anything about it whenever you gave it or left it for him. And he didnât really bring it up.
Until today.
You ran your hands down your skirt, smoothening out any wrinkles that may have resulted from what you and Jungkook just did in the farthest shelves in the library. You fixed your hair and pushed back your eyeglasses, the ones you only wore on campus when youâre too stressed to wear lenses, preparing yourself before leaving the area. Jungkook already left five minutes ago, you asked him to. To avoid looking too obvious and suspicious to everyone who is still in the library at this late time.Â
âGood night, Joan,â you waved at the grey-haired lady with a metallic âLIBRARIANâ name plate pinned on her right chest.Â
She only nodded, not bothering to look up from the books she was checking. Thereâs a relief in your body as you slip your books back into your tote. It wasnât the first time you and Jungkook had pulled something reckless; there were worse places.Â
By the time you stepped outside, the cool night air blew on your skin. There he was, leaning on his car with his arms crossed over his chest. He has a stupid grin on his face that makes you roll your eyes as you walk up to him.
âPlease promise me we will never do it in that place again,â you said.
He chuckled, âWhy? I thought you loved it, you were whiningââ
âShut up!â Your eyes widened, stopping him from whatever he was going to say, âLibraries are like my sacred place. I donât want journal articles staring at me while Iâm getting rammed.â
Jungkook smirked, unbothered by your glare. âFine, fine. Libraries are off-limits from now on.â He stepped aside, opening the passenger side door for you, voice dripping with fake politeness. âYour carriage awaits, milady.â
You slid in, clutching your tote to your lap, already thinking about your schedule for tomorrow, from your first exam of the day to your work shift later. He joined you on the driverâs side, humming something under his breath as he started the car.
For a while, there was only the sound of the engine and the faint buzz of the radio. Then he glanced at you during a red light and opened his hand, presenting his palm.
âSo?â he opened and closed his hand.
You frowned, âSo⊠what?â
âCandy?â he simply replied, like it was some coded word.
And you were too tired from studying and the other stuff in the library, you couldn't process what he just said, âCandy⊠what?â
âMy candy. Whereâs my favorite coffee candy?â he replied, once again, opening and closing his free hand.
The car moved forward again as the light turned green, while you were still processing what he said. Then you let out a laugh, a loud one. You had your hand on your stomach while you threw your head back. Like he just told you a hilarious joke.
It was Jungkookâs turn to be confused this time, âWhat, babe?â
âOh my god. Do you actually expect me to give you candy every single time we have sex?â you chuckled.
Jungkook simply nodded, âAh, yeah⊠Itâs like our deal?â
âWhat deal?â
âEvery time we have sex, and if it was good, youâll give me a piece. And if you really liked my performance, youâll give me two or three.â
Your eyes widened with his explanation, and our jaw dropped too.
âPerformance?!â you repeated in an unbelieving tone. âJungkook, you sound like youâre auditioning for a talent show. Do you expect me to hold up scorecards after?â
He tapped the steering wheel, still smug. âWouldnât mind getting a ten out of ten from you then.â
You stared at him, equal parts horrified and amused. âOh my god. Youâve actually been keeping track of my candies.â
âOf course,â he said, like it was obvious. âThat time in my kitchen? Five candies. That means you really loved it, right?â
You buried your face in your hands, laughter spilling out despite yourself, âOh my god, I accidentally Pavloved you. I conditioned you.â
âI donât know what the fuck that is, but I just know you are giving the candy because you like meâ my performance,â he quickly reminded himself. âAnd, I like it⊠Itâs our little routine. Itâs cute.â
You paused, looking at him for a few seconds. Jungkook can feel it from his peripheral vision. Something shifted in the air, but Jungkook heard you groan before the sudden change of air suffocated you both. You rummaged through your messy tote bag until you fished out a crumpled, almost flat candy and handed it to him.
âHere, happy?â
âYeah, thank you so much. I love yâ it!â Jungkook bit his tongue before snatching the sweets in your hand.
You only nodded, turning to face the window. You werenât stupid; youâd heard his slip-up, just like heâd never know it was your very last candy, the one youâd been saving for long nights studying because you still had to stretch your money until next week. Your fingers tightened on your tote strap as he popped it into his mouth with a dramatic yet satisfied sigh, grinning like youâd given him gold. âBest part of my night,â he whispered, and you almost answered mine tooâbut instead, you just watched the streetlights blur past, letting the silence thicken between you.

 âFifteen minutes left!â
A staff member reminded everyone in the room. So many hands work all over the place. Makeup brushes, curling irons, sparkly outfits. The scent of hairspray, coffee, and a lavender humidifier filled the room.
Art is running around to look for extra batteries for your mic. Cal is next to you, sternly looking after you while holding your customized Stanley tumbler. There are different voices and orders to make sure that everyone, especially you, is ready. You stood wordlessly amidst the chaos, standing in the center of it all like a doll being dressed up. You remained like that while someone untangles your in-ear monitor in your styled hair.Â
Yoongi silently eyes you across the room, sitting silently next to his co-members. His thumb was busy scrolling on his phone, but his eyes were all set on one single woman in the room. He has not seen you all day, not even during the soundcheck and rehearsals, and no one has explained why you were absent. It was unusual, since you rarely went missing, even on your worst days.Â
Maybe thatâs why everythingâs in a rush. The main star of the show only arrived in the arena thirty minutes ago, and her bass guitarist can see the lack of sparkle in her eyes.
âYou know, you can just talk to her,â Noah whispered.
Yoongi turned his head and saw that the rest of the band was looking at him with encouragement. Fred simply nods his chin in your direction while Akio only offers a kind smile.
But he just shook his head, looking away, âThis is nothing. Iâm justââ
âYou know, we can all tell that something has been going on between you two since the tour resumed.â Noah went on, rolling his eyes. âYou said no to her for the first time in Tokyo. She looks like something else when sheâs around you, when we were in Seoul. And since we got back from the beach a day ago, you two have been sneaking glances at each other.â
âAlso, it didnât help that you guys always have a third party when working on her next project. Youâre always inviting one of us to write and make songs with you two when itâs only you two understand each other.â Fred joined in.
Yoongi scoffed, shifting on his spot on the couch, âI donât know what youâre talking about.â
âOkay, then, please explain why you look like a sad puppy every time she walks by.â Akio giggled.
Before Yoongi can reply, another crew member snapped his fingers while screaming, âTen minutes left! Band, please get to your placesâ Is YN ready?â
The band got up, and Yoongi got another glimpse of you listening to instructions from people around you. Your eyes were closed while nodding continuously. He can tell that you were mildly checked out. He was snapped out of his gaze when Noah nudged his shoulder,
âTheyâll leave her alone five minutes before she goes on stage, you knowâŠâ Noah whispered as if he were trying to tell him something. Itâs true, that's why you were rarely late during any performance. You always like to be alone before performing, just to have some time to calm down and prepare yourself.
Yoongi didnât reply and unconsciously remained staring in your direction, making his bandmate, your best friend, roll his eyes.
âJust go, you sad-looking cat. I hate seeing you two playing hide-and-seek like this,â Noah shoved him lightly.
Yoongi glared back. âYouâre annoying.â
âAnd youâre fucking obvious,â Noah whispered, already leaving the room.
Yoongi lingered at the door, waiting for the room to clear up. He watched as your team gradually peeled away. They began leaving one by one to have their dinner or maybe take a puff outside after the last stressful minutes. Cal, your assistant, was the last one to go. As she was leaving, she simply looked at him, nodding, as if she knew the same thing as the band.Â
âBe quick,â She patted his arm with a knowing look, before disappearing with Art down the hall.Â
Then, the room is quiet.
Yoongi cannot tell if you are aware of his presence since you remained sat down on your white vanity chair, eyes still closed. As he steps closer, he takes notice of the glitters applied on each of your lids, along with the soft gloss on your lips.Â
He gulped before speaking, âHey.â
Your eyes fluttered open, looking at him through the mirror before you, âHey.â
To you, he looked like a snack. You donât know when, but his hair is trimmed and styled into an undercut. It was pushed back, yet a few strands hover on the edge of his forehead, making you feel some type of way.Â
âYou werenât around the whole day,â Yoongi mumbled.
And thereâs a warmth in your chest upon the idea that he probably felt your absence the entire day. But instead, you bite your cheeks to stop yourself from smiling.
âAnd youâre supposed to be at your spot.â
âWell, I guess weâre both doing our jobs horribly right now,â he tried to lighten up the mood. A small quirk from the corner of your lips is enough for him to feel a little more at ease.
You turned to face him. âAre you here to check if I can still do my job?â
Noah was right. You two are basically playing the most obvious game of hide and seek. Everyone is a spectator while you and he play around each other.
He sighed. âIâm here to check if youâre okay. You lookââ
âYoongi,â you cut in sharply. âDonât do that. I thought you didnât want us asking those things. Weâre just coworkers, right?â
The air thickened instantly. Yoongiâs lips parted, but nothing came up. All of the sentences he had already readied in his head are cleared up. Like he just went on a factory reset.
âYN, thatâs not what Iââ
âThree minutes!â someone called from outside.
You stood up, smoothing down the mini skirt of your glittering pink outfit. âYou should really go to your spot now.â
But when you walked past him toward the door, your heel caught on the edge of a cable. You stumbled forward with a startled gasp, and before you could hit the floor, Yoongiâs arm wrapped tightly around your waist. There was a sharp inhale from you as your head turned, and you felt how close you two were.
âCareful,â he whispered against your ear, almost tickling you.
Your heart hammered wildly as he helped you steady yourself, his touch on your waist lingering seconds too long.
âThanks,â you said quietly, straightening your posture.Â
He simply nods, and you can see how his eyes softened before going.
âManila, youâre so hot tonight!â
Being the best performer you are, no one would have thought how chaotic everything was with how you have been performing for more than an hour now. Yoongi, as usual, has been watching you behind, tracking every move you make. He took notice of how you have been extra careful with the new shoes you got from your stylist. Itâs unlike your usual thick-heeled, high-heeled boots. The one youâre currently wearing seems to be asking for accidents with its four-inch stiletto-heeled boots. You already almost slipped earlier, but you were quick to hold onto one of your dancers.
Seeing how the shoes definitely affect your performance, Yoongi cannot help but feel frustrated by it for some reason. His stomach twists in every twirl or complicated move you make, worried how your heels might betray you.Â
âI showed my friends, then we high-fiâ ah!â
A sharp click echoed as your heel caught again on the stageâs edge. Instantly, Yoongiâs muscles tensed. He flinched as if to move and help you get up. But you were literally across the stage, and he was also in the middle of playing the bass.Â
Gladly, you recovered smoothly, flashing a grin to your cheering audience while your dancers helped you. But Yoongiâs jaw remained clenched, worried about how the fall had probably hurt.
He canât help but say to himself, âSeriously⊠those heels?â
Your eyes flicked to the side stage for the briefest moment and caught his glare. Thatâs when you decided to do something, walking to his spot. A small smirk tugged at your lips, and Yoongi is too distracted with his worries to tell why. Then, he realized which part of the song you are at.
âOh, late at night, I'm thinking 'boutââ
But just when you were about to make it to him, you stepped on the slippery part of the stage, and everyone gasped audibly, ready to see you hit the floor one more time. But Yoongi was finally close enough to catch you.Â
Just like earlier, Yoongiâs arm tightened around your waist, steadying you, his hand firm yet careful. Your chest pressed lightly against his side as you instinctively rested a hand on his shoulder for balance. The audienceâs gasps and squeals barely registered as you two froze for a heartbeat, the stage music carrying on around you. Your eyes met his, wide and sparkling with adrenaline, and you couldnât help but put on a devilish smile.
âHave you ever tried this one?â
Yoongiâs jaw tightened, grip still firm, when you leaned just a fraction closer, brushing your nose against his. His eyes were wide, and you know the effect when you feel his grip on your waist gets tighter.
And before he can even fully process it, you pull back with a wink and walk back to the center stage to sing the chorus.
âHey, you okay?â
Yoongi simply nods when a staff member asks him when they got off the stage after the show. Sweat drips from his forehead, dampening a few strands of his styled hair. He flexes his fingers subtly, still feeling the weight of your body against him from earlier.Â
Somehow, he is still frustrated for reasons he still canât tell. But he can tell this is much more than those heels he worried about.
âTheyâre inviting everyone for drinks, you coming?â Noah asked, snapping him out.
Yoongi tried to act normal, âY-Yeah, sure.â
âI feel like you need to drink.â Akio followed behind them, with a teasing tone in her statement. Her brows wiggled, âSeems like you lost balance earlier, huh?â
His jaw clenched, âI donât know what youâre saying.â
It was the same statement he had earlier, and he knew that they would just tease him about it. So he walked forward faster. He runs a hand down his face, trying to calm the tension lingering in his shoulders. Even now, off stage, he canât shake you off his mind.Â
Then, suddenly, you appear out of nowhere. You were walking in the opposite direction from him, and you were also still recovering from the show. You stopped when you locked eyes with him.
âWhatâs with the look?â you asked, sounding offended, with your eyes squinting.
Thatâs when Yoongi realized that he was probably unconsciously glaring at you. He snapped out, pushing his hair back, âNothing.â
âNo, you seemed mad at me,â you pressed, suddenly in a mood for confrontation. âIs it because of the Juno performanceââ
âItâs not about you, YN,â he cuts her off, trying to avoid the topic.
âIs it?â
There was a pregnant pause after you said that. As if both of you knew that he was lying. Yoongi sighed. Maybe this is the talk heâs been wanting to have since earlier. But before he can even say a word, Callie comes up behind you.
âYN, we need you to changeââ
âFifteen minutes, Cal. Yoongi and I have to talk about something.â
You didnât wait for a reply. Instead, you took Yoongiâs wrist and pulled him with you to the nearest door, your dressing room. He dumbfoundedly followed you, while everyoneâs heads turned in your direction, as it was a rare sight. The door clicked shut, and the faint murmur of every staff member who witnessed the whole thing filled the hallway.
âOh, they are going to talkâŠâ Fred mumbled as they stood next to your assistant, who seemed to be speechless.
âOr maybe something elseâŠâ Akio quipped with a small smile.Â
âOkay, Iâm gonna be honest,â Noah spoke, catching everyoneâs attention. âThose two look like they need to fuck. You know, just to get it over with.â
Callie choked on her laugh, covering her mouth, âNoah!â
âWhat?! I just said what everyone is thinking!â

This is torture.
Whoever thought of styling your bassist in a very tasteful way shall be brought in front of you, just so you can scream to their face for an hour straight. Yoongi stood out amidst the most basic outfit one could think of: a black shirt, a black leather jacket, and ripped, baggy jeans. He looks like a real rockstar. Your eyes travelled down the silver rings in his fingers, unconsciously biting your lower lip hard. Itâs crazy, you can even hear your own breathing.
âYN, please stop checking him out.â
You heard Calâs worn-out voice next to you, but that didnât stop you from staring. At this point, you can just admit that youâre being shameless, staring heavily at your bassist, whoâs in the middle of doing a photoshoot with the rest of the band. You sat on the makeup chair, your look was already done, and you were just waiting for the go-signal to join them.Â
The photoshoot is for a Singaporean cover of a certain magazine. Of course, you would be in the cover. But the team also wants to feature your live band that has been making waves online with every show.
Cal sighed after seeing that you resumed your most recent recreational activity since the time you and Yoongi talked privately for fifteen minutes in your dressing room. The one where Noah bet that you two fucked. Like an old sister, she cupped your cheeks, making your lips pucker, to make you turn your head to her.
âYou should stop, really. You look like youâre already stripping him off in your head,â she whispered to make sure no staff would hear it.
âWell, I hope he can feel that,â you shrugged off.
Your managerâs brows scrunched together, âWhat?â
You didnât say anything. Instead, she noticed you again watching Yoongi heavily. You even licked your lips and swallowed a lump in your throat as he posed in front of the camera.Â
âThatâs it,â Cal took your wrist and pulled you with her in the private dressing room, away from present ears. âWhat the fuck is going on, YN? What happened that night?!â
You looked at her and exhaled, âNothing!â
âNothing? Your nose is flaring,â she states, mentioning that one quirk you do when youâre lying. âI wonât let you out if you wonât tell me anythingâ or at least, something. Because by the way you are embarrassingly acting rightââ
âNothing, Callie! Thatâs the problem. Nothing happenedâ nothing is happening!â you stomped your foot like a bratty kid who cannot have her favorite candy.
Cal places her hands on her hips, looking at you like a helpless case. For a second, she scanned you to guess what went on with that âtalkâ with Yoongi. But she is so tired of guessing and predicting between you and your bassist, she just said,
âOkay, tell me what happened that night.â
âFifteen minutes, Cal.
You clicked the lock, ensuring you and Yoongi would have the privacy you both needed.Â
No one spoke immediately. Instead, when you turned around after locking the door, you see Yoongi simply looking at you with his hands shoved in his pockets. The only sound that can be heard is the noise of the people outside your dressing room. You can hear Noah saying something that made some people laugh, but itâs not really audible. Yoongi didnât really move, frozen on the spot, waiting for you to say something. Itâs frustrating.
âWhat the hell is your problem, Yoongi?â you sighed, crossing your arms over your chest.
He shrugged, âI donât know, you tell me, YN. Youâre the one who pulled me here.â
It was like him popping Mentos in a bottle of soda. Your heels clicked on the ground as you stepped forward, âYou are fucking confusing me.â
You see his Adamâs apple bob up and down. You continued, âYou were the one who made it clear that I should stay away when I tried to talk to you, which I did by the way. Even when we are doing songs together, I try to have another person present just to not make things too awkward for us. And now, you can just come up to me before the show to check on me? â
You noticed how his stare got sharper as you ended your sentence. He licked his lips before speaking, âBut you were the first one who made it clear that weâre just co-workers who fucking flirts a lot, YN. I was the first one who tried to talk to you, and you pushed me away, which hurts me, by the way. And Iâm sorry that I did the same thing. I acted cold and pushed you away, too. Iâm sorry. But for Peteâs sake, YN, I really didnât like how I was thinking about you so much because you didnât show up the whole day.â
Itâs your turn to stay quiet now, Yoongi took the lead. For the first time, the elephant that has followed you and your bassist in every room youâre in together is going to be addressed. That fucking elephant is probably tired from following you two from the United States to different Asian countries.
âLook, YN. Iââ he paused, sighing, âI like you⊠A lot. Somehow, in between the childish fights and late-night song-making, I found a reason toââ
âYoongi,â you called his name, voice a bit deeper. Like you were trying to regain control of the situation.
âWhat?â he looked at you expectantly, ready to hear you out even though you had interrupted him. But nothing came out of your lips.
Instead, you took three sharp steps, closing the gap between you two. You grabbed the lapels of his jacket and dragged him down before he could even process it. The moment your lips crashed onto his, it was rough, like you two were making up for lost time. All the pent-up anger, frustration, and desire were revealed all at once. His lips were as warm as the last time you felt them. Impatient, you softly bite his lip, making his breath hitch.
When he finally caught up, you felt Yoongiâs hands find your waist. He wanted to take control like before in your hotel room. But not today, you thought. Your palms spread over his chest. Then to his jaw and cheeks. It got sloppier and deeper with your uneven rhythm. You walked him backwards until he stumbled down to the couch.
Yoongi barely had a second to steady himself before you followed, straddling his lap, lips already finding his again. This time, it has gotten more desperate. Your mouths kept missing and finding each other, breaths mixing. Your fingers threaded through his hair. The moment you grip it, you can feel the vibration on his chest and lips. The low groan instant made you grip harder.
His hands moved again, firmer this time, holding the curve of your waist as you were moving too much. Basically, feeling him up. You pulled away when you felt him squeezing your waist harder. Catching your breath, you dumbfoundedly looked down at him.
âYoongi,â you breathlessly called his name. He looked dazed himself, your lip gloss all over his swollen lips. âI like you too. You know that, right?â
âMhm.â he nods, looking up at you with the stars in his eyes.
A small smile made its way to your lips, and he smiled back. He held your cheeks softly before pulling you in for another kiss. This time, it was slower. Less rushed than the one earlier. It was soft and gentle. It was the kind of kiss that slowed down your quickened heartbeat. Your hands rest on his shoulders, feeling him relax under your touch. Slowly, your lips trail kisses from his lips to his jaw and down to his neck.Â
âYNââÂ
His voice cracked halfway through your name, low and warning, but it only made you smile against his skin. You felt his pulse jump beneath your lips as you pressed another kiss, softer this time, right where his jaw met his neck. Your hands began to travel down, and when you got a touch of the cold metal of his belt, you felt Yoongi gripping your waist as if to stop you.Â
âWait,â he whispered, exhaling sharply. You could hear the restraint in his tone, obviously trying to hold himself together. âI donât think we should do this hereââ
âOh, yeah, yeah,â you immediately agreed, giggling. âWe can go straight back to my room while everyone is partyingââ
âNo, I mean, I was thinkingâŠâ You tilted your head, still straddling him. Your heart pounded against his. His hands were still on your waist, just to hold you in place. ââŠmaybe we should take things slow.â
You blinked, lips gaping, because surely you misheard that. Slow? You almost laughed, but then you saw the way he was looking at you with sincere conviction.
âYoongi,â you breathed out, almost unbelieving, âyou know that we were literally dry-humping just seconds ago, right?â
A small chuckle escaped him, breathless but amused. âYeah, I noticed.â His thumb brushed your waist in slow, absentminded circles, a habit of his that you are starting to notice.
âThen whyââ
âBecause if we donât stop now, I wonât.â His voice was firmer this time, quiet but sure. âAnd I donât want the first real thing to happen before I even took you out for a date.â
You stared at him, chest rising and falling as you tried to process what he just said. His hands were still firm on your waist, thumbs drawing idle circles on your skin like he was trying to calm both of you down. Itâs sweet. Heâs being sweet, it makes your heart throb. But there are a lot more things throbbing than your heart now.
âSo, you want to take things slow?â you repeated, quietly hoping for a very small false confirmation. âAre you serious?â
Yoongiâs mouth curved into a soft smile as he tucked a stray strand of your hair behind your ear. âIâm always serious with you.â
You didnât know what to say to that. So you just stared at him. His hair was a mess because of you. His lip gloss-slicked mouth because of you. His pupils, dark and blown wide, definitely because of you.
And still, he wanted to wait.
You both sat there for a while â your knees still bracketing his hips, your fingers still tangled in his shirt. The world outside was still loud, still moving, but in that tiny dressing room, it was just the two of you trying to catch your breath and your sanity. You swallowed hard, still straddling him,Â
âYouâre gonna drive me insane, arenât you?â you said, voice breathy, somewhere between a laugh and a groan.
Yoongiâs smile deepened just a little, enough to show that hint of smugness he canât quite hide. âYeah,â
Laughing, you playfully hit him on his chest. He laughed too, catching your hands. You turned your head down, wordlessly admitting your defeat. You felt him softly kiss your knuckles before letting go and holding your chin to make you meet his eyes.
His eyes darted briefly to your lips again, like he couldnât help himself. âOne more?â he asked quietly.
You didnât answer. You just leaned in. This kiss was soft. Just slow, deliberate movements, the kind that sends assurance to you. His lips brushed against yours in gentle intervals, softer each time, until it felt like breathing. You could do it all day, you wonât mind.
And when you finally pulled away, you rested your forehead against his, whispering, âThis is already driving me insane.â
âYeah,â he breathed out with a lazy smile. âMe too.â
âI think Iâm way past insane, Cal.â you told your manager, nails almost gripping your already-styled hair, âItâs only been three days and ooh⊠the things that I want to do to himââ
âPlease spare me the details, YN,â she cuts you off with a grimace. âItâs only been three days and youâre acting like youâre in withdrawal.â
âBecause I am! I donât think I can be celibate with him around, Callie,â you desperately told her, hiding your face in your palms.
You hear her laugh as she softly removes your wrist away from your face, âI donât think it can be called celibacy if itâs only been three days, hon.â
You glared at her, making her laugh even more, âCal, he is such a gentleman. Itâs so hot.â
Your manager blinked. âYouâre complaining that heâs hot for respecting your boundaries?â
âYes!â you exclaimed, hands thrown up. âLike, who does that? Who kisses you like that and then says, âletâs take it slowâ? He ruined my entire sleep schedule, Callie. I close my eyes and I see him saying that with his stupid, calm face! I even had to check if Iâm ovulating because what the fuck?!â
The day after that night in Manila, you flew here to Singapore for your next show. For your âfirstâ date, you visited an art museum and a botanical garden. The rest of the band came too to avoid suspicion, and Cal wonât let you two go alone. Although you havenât told them yet about your new situation with each other, the band knew better and let you wander around the same area alone. You learned that Yoongi likes photography too. He often took pictures of you with his own camera during the âdateâ. He also never let you bring out your wallet when you tried various local foods. You donât even have to say anything because he literally buys things you just look at a little bit longer.
Callie snorted, shaking her head. âYouâre in trouble.â
âI know.â You groaned, flopping back in your chair. âHeâs all... patient and thoughtful andâugh.â
âWhat are you up to?â
Noah watched from your bed as you dried your hair in the bathroom. He can easily see you since you left the door open, so you can chat easily while you get ready. After the photoshoot earlier, your best friend decided to join you in your hotel room just to chill.Â
âNothing, Yoongiâs coming. Weâll try to produce and record the first demo for the lyrics I showed you earlier,â you explained while running your hair through your airwrap.
âAnd youâre wearing that?âÂ
You looked at him through the open doorway. âWhat do you mean by that? Iâm in my robe, my pajamas are underneath.â
âGirl, I can see the strap of your quote-unquote pajamas,â Noah said, deadpan, scrolling on his phone in his hands. âAnd all can say is that thing is thinner than spaghetti. How subtle, my love.â
You rolled your eyes. âItâs hot in here.â
âItâs hot because you want it to be hot. You are literally in the greatest room in this hotel, you have the control of your air conditioner,â he shot back. âDonât act innocent.â
You pretended to ignore him, unplugging the airwrap and tousling your hair in the mirror. You reached for the small tube of strawberry lip gloss near the sink, applying it to your lips. You popped your lips together before speaking, âYouâre ridiculous.â
âIâm ridiculous? Youâre literally blow-drying your hair like itâs a date,â he teased, getting up from your bed, just to lean on your bathroom doorway.
âItâs not a date,â you said, though your tone wavered a little, squinting at him.
Noah hummed knowingly. âRight. You just happened to do your hair, your lip gloss, and your silver silk satin top and cami shorts are for a totally professional session with the guy you fucked in your dressing room days ago.â
âYou know, thatâs not true. Iâll sue you if that rumor reaches the media.â You grabbed your phone and glanced at the clock. âHeâs coming in five.â
âFive minutes?â
You nodded.
Noah sighed dramatically, âAlright, Iâm leaving before I have to hear you two turn song lyrics into foreplay.â
âOut!â you pointed toward the door, laughing despite yourself.
He grabbed his keys and muttered, âJust donât blame me when your âdemoâ ends up being six minutes of heavy breathing.â
You rolled your eyes as he left, but your stomach twisted just a little. Because five minutes suddenly didnât feel like enough time to calm the hell down. You unwrapped your robe, hanging it behind the bathroom door. You took one last glance in the mirror, checking yourself out.Â
Maybe you shouldnât have picked this set. Itâs too⊠slutty? Maybe you are being too obvious. You hate to admit it, but yeah, you look like youâre trying. Still, you tugged at the hem of your shorts, tried to convince yourself you werenât overdressed for a âwork session.â You were even wearing perfume, even though youâre just doing the work in your room.
Suddenly, a knock came, three light taps.
You froze for half a second before forcing your voice out. âItâs open!â
You walked out of the bathroom just when Yoongi stepped in. His laptop bag was over his shoulder, hair slightly damp like heâd showered right before coming over. He looked comfortable in his casual clothes: plain white shirt, grey sweats, silver chain with the charm hiding underneath his shirt.. Effortless. Annoyingly effortless.
âHey,â he greeted softly.
âHey,â you replied, pretending to be busy yourself with cleaning up the desk he would put his stuff on. You could feel his eyes scan the room before his gaze landed on you. Briefly. Too brief for your liking..
It was like he didnât even notice your look or what you were wearing. Not even a blink or a quirk on his lips. He just took his seat by the desk, opening his laptop like nothing about this situation was tense. You watched him behind as he set up.
âLetâs go over the melody again?â he said casually, like he was so ready to work.
âOkay,â You nodded with slumped shoulders, sitting beside him where the mic was set. The space between your chairs felt tiny, even though it was probably three feet in between. You could hear his quiet breaths, the soft clicks of his mouse, and the faint hum he made when thinking. You could only wish you could be as calm as he is.
Ten minutes in, you've already lost focus. You were supposed to be recording the said demo, but you kept messing up the lyrics you wrote and were reading from your own phone. Your tongue is like struggling to function at the moment. But, Yoongi is patient and just gives you a thumbs up whenever you apologize.
The only rhythm you could follow now was his fingers tapping the desk or your heartbeat trying to keep up. By the fourth time you are recording, you accidentally said bees instead of please. Your vocals were a little shaky, too. Yoongi glanced at you then,
âYou okay?â he asked.
âYeah, just⊠hot,â you said, reaching for your bottled water on the desk.Â
He nodded, though you caught the flicker in his gaze before he turned back to the screen, âHow about Iâll clean up this melody first. Then you can have a five-minute break. Is that okay?â
âYeah, sounds great.â You forced a smile before removing your headphones to stand up.
The air in your room felt suffocating for you. So, you decided to open the door to your balcony and let the fresh breeze come in. You stood in the doorway just to quietly inhale the air, hopefully to knock some sense into you. Youâre drowning with these feelings, and Yoongi is probably chilling behind you. You can hear his little noise: his throat clearing, small sighs, and small movements on his chair. And he is so fineâ so okay, you want to know how.
Finally, you couldnât take it anymore.
âYoongi,â you said, your voice sharper than intended. You turned around to see him already looking at you.
âYeah?â
âHow do youââ you started, then stopped, shaking your head. âHow do you act so normal?â
You feel pathetic, asking that question. Like, are you really this desperate? You asked yourself.
His brows pulled together. âNormal?â
âYeah,â you said, gesturing vaguely between the two of you. âYouâre just⊠calm and collected. Being so mature with all of this. Like this doesnât mess with you at all.â
He blinked slowly, confusion and amusement drawn across his face. âYou think Iâm calm?â
âYouâre literally so focused on working like weâre not sitting very closely with each other!â you snapped, your frustration cracking through your restraint. âDo you not find me attractive, or are you just immune to⊠this?â
That last word came out soft. Small. Maybe a little insecure. You had the same feeling you have when you were in middle school, where everyone is getting Valentineâs Day candy except you. With shame growing inside of you, you turned away again, hiding your frown from him. You feel so stupid and childish for feeling as such around him.
Behind you. Yoongiâs lips parted. His expression was unreadable for a second. Then you heard him push his chair back slightly, enough to turn toward you.
âYou really think that?â he spoke, voice lower, behind you. Like he is a strong coming.
You swallowed hard, still not looking around. âIt just feels that way.â
For a moment, it just silenced.. Then, there is another cool blast of air again that makes you hug yourself. But slowly, you felt some familiar arms wrapped around your waist. You can instantly feel his warmth from his touch.
âYou have no idea how hard it is to act normal around you.â
Your breath hitched, not just from his confession. But with how warm his breath is next to your ear. His chin almost rests on your bare shoulders.
âI canât look at you too long without losing focus,â he continued, thumb tracing circles over the silk fabric on your waist. âI canât even breathe right when you wear things like this.â
Your heart stuttered. His words hit lower than they shouldâve. Then, before you could say anything, his lips brushed your shoulder. Barely. Like a ghost of a touch. But it was enough to make your skin erupt in goosebumps.
He lingered, breath warm. Then another soft kiss, higher this time, right where your neck met your shoulder.
âYoongiâŠâ you whispered, but it came out as a plea, not a warning.
He hummed against your skin, the sound low and vibrating. âYou wonder how Iâm so strong,â he murmured, his breath fanning your jaw. âTruth is, Iâm not.â
You could feel the smile against your skin before he whispered again, slower:
âI just really, really donât want to mess this up.â
His hand slid from your shoulder down to your wrist, squeezing gently like an anchor. He pressed one last kiss on your shoulder before pulling back.

Within just three knocks on your door, Yoongi heard your voice from inside your room, bright and careless.
âItâs open!â
Yoongi slowly stepped in, immediately spotting the open balcony doors that perfectly show the view outside. The white sand and blue sea sparkle under the sunny weather of the Philippines. The humid air clung to his skin before he could even turn to see you. He knew he should have brought a hair tie or something that could keep his hair up, as he could already feel the sweat forming at the back of his neck. This is why he prefers the cozy weather of winter more.Â
When he turned, there you were.Â
On the bed.
In your white sundress.
Your back rests on the headboard. Both your hands were busy. One is writing on a familiar notebook, the one he gave to you, while the other holds a melting red popsicle. The same shade of red is obvious at the corner of your lips. Yoongi looked away, clearing his throat to get your attention, which he succeeded in as you looked up.
âNoah said you were looking for me?â he asked, keeping his tone unaffected while you licked the cold treat.
You nodded, âYeah, I just thought we could work on this idea I had earlierâŠunless you had plans? Iâm sorry, we can just work on this laterââ
âItâs okay, I was bored in my room anyway.â
A smile almost instantly formed on your face, he noticed. He pressed his lips together to avoid doing the same thing. Instead, he turned to set his laptop on the nearest desk, but you tapped your bed.
âYou can set up here. The desk is a bit too far.â
There was hesitation for a second as Yoongiâs eyes flicked from the bed to you. It was an innocent invitation, something he should not have thought about in normal circumstances. But the invitation came from you.Â
âAlright.â
Still, Yoongi found himself carrying his laptop over. He sat on the end of the bed, the safest spot for him, while you stayed on the other end. But who knows that a faint brush of your feet on his knee can make his shoulders tense?
And amidst this inner battle Yoongi is having, you seemed to be unfazed by all of this. He thought you were so much better than him, as you remained focused on flipping through your notes. On every page you turn, your finger leaves a light red smudge from the popsicle.Â
âHere,â you passed him your notebook, seemingly excited. âI just finished it earlier with a tune in mind.â
There was a brief brush of your fingers on his when you handed him your notes. Yoongiâs grip tightened around the notebook like he needed to remind himself that you two are working at the moment. As he could feel your eyes on him, he looked down at what you wrote. In between the doodles and messy writing, he cannot help but let out a low chuckle when he reads the lyrics. A reaction that definitely blew off the persona he was trying to keep up. He immediately cleared his throat.
âHow was it?â you asked, eyes wide, obviously curious about his opinion.
Yoongi sees the red stain at the corner of your lips, the one he wanted to wipe off with his thumb when he first saw it. But that would be too intimate for workmates. Instead, he coldly gave you back your notebook while looking away, âItâs nice and interesting. Letâs work on your idea.â
You were in the middle of enjoying your strawberry popsicle when Yoongi looked back at you again. The stick is almost done, and you have finally become aware of the corner of your lips, wiping it with your thumb before cleaning it off with your tongue.
And Yoongi watched.
Quietly.Â
Dumbfounded as all of it happened from his point of view in slow-motion. His pulse beats faster and louder this time. Unconsciously, his mouth agape, throat running dry, he gulped when he snapped out of it.
âOkay, done!â you clicked your tongue, smiling, unaware of how the other person in the room is starting to feel blood rushing to his ears. âWait, let me just throw thisâŠâ
Carelessly, you hopped off the bed. Your bare feet padded softly on the wooden floor as you made way to the bin near the open balcony. That sundress is a sin. Its thin straps are tied around your neck, while the skirt barely meets above your knees. Itâs perfect for the scorching weather of the country, but with your bare back being exposed like that, all Yoongi can do is clench his jaw like a madman.Â
He uncomfortably shifted on the bed, gripping the laptop closer to him. But his eyes betrayed him, getting distracted by how the sunlight lands on your skin. Just like how he sees you on stage, you literally glow in his eyes. His knuckles tightened around the edge of the laptop, stop. He closed his eyes, pinching his nose.
Just when he felt the mattress dipping, you spoke, âLetâs start recording the demo?â
When Yoongi slowly opened his eyes, the first thing he saw was the flower hair claw that gathers your hair. You put your hair up. You put your hair up!Â
Yoongi almost died on the spot.Â
âYeah,â he said, voice a touch too low, maybe too rough. He cleared his throat quickly, forcing his attention on the laptop. âLetâs⊠letâs try it.â
You nodded, sliding back comfortably against the headboard with the notebook on your lap. You were humming something, warming up your voice, for a minute. Then, you began to sing.
And it was over for him.
âSo long, untouched. Bone dry, not a plant can grow. 'Bout time I get back on the horse to the rodeo.âÂ
Just by the first few lines, Yoongi can tell where this song is going. Although you were still unsure in the tone as you sang, Yoongi could feel the teasing and sultry mood you were going for. You used a lower, deeper tone at the beginning, something you rarely use. Something Yoongi learned he likes just now.
Yoongi thought he could recover and perform better for the rest of the session. But you looked up, looking straight into his eyes as you sang.
âWhen did you get hot all the sudden? I could look you up and down all day.â
It was a trap. Like a moth to a lamp. Yoongi cannot bother to look away from how you aimed your stare at him, unruffled, like you are directing the song to him. It was like you were getting into the same teasing YN Yoongi used to banter with months ago.
Smirking, you sang, âI did a double take, triple take. Take me to naked Twister back at your place.â
Yoongi read the lyrics earlier; he was not supposed to be surprised now that you are singing it. But he didnât expect that you would sing it to him. And the room got warmer, not because of the weather outside, but it was when you winked at him playfully.
âCongratulations on your new improvements, I bet your light rod's, like, bigger than Zeus's.â
Yoongi felt like a prude. He blinked, adjusting his black button-upâs collar as he felt it tight around his throat. Sweat is getting more and more prominent on his forehead. He pushed his hair back, hoping it would cool down whatever the hell he was feeling right now.
You were hot, too. Like literally. Yoongi can tell, your skin is literally glistening in sweat. He is starting to feel angry that why didnât turn on the air conditioner in this stupid room earlier before he came, so that he wouldn't have to see you like this. He hates that you look like that. He hates the weather. He hates that you are an angel with a sinful dress and the prettiest voice. He hates that he cannot do anything about it, really.
He feels like a pressure cooker about to pop off.
All while you were giggling over your own lyrics, âWhen did you get hot?â
Yoongi can tell that you are innocent of what you had just done to him. But your hands are not clean a hundred percent, not when youâre sitting there in that sundress, lips stained red as you sang those words to him. Maybe it was intentional, maybe it wasnât. He canât decide which is worse.
His jaw tightens once again. He doesnât know if he can still sit for another second without combusting.
He shut the laptop a little too abruptly, the sound cutting through the silence.
âLetâs⊠continue tomorrow. I just rememberedâŠ. I have somethingâ a meetingâ Zoom meeting to attend to.â he said in a rush, stumbling with his words as he gathered his things.Â
You blinked, slightly taken aback. âOh, okay⊠Is it okay? Is it bad?â
âY-Yeah, itâs good. Really catchy,â he spews mindlessly. âI really should go.â
âOkay,â you sounded more disappointed this time.
Thatâs when Yoongi looked at you, really looked. Your notebook still on your lap, hair pulled up in that damn flower claw, lips faintly red from the popsicle, eyes wide with a hint of letdown.
The whole thing is confusing to him.
But he only managed a tight nod. âDonât⊠donât overthink, YN. It was great. Youâre amazing as always.â
He didnât wait for your response, no goodbye or anything. Then, he went straight to the door before he could see that you softened up with his words. And when he finally steps outside your room, he only has one thought in his head.

YN - Manchild (Behind the Scenes)
12,826,003 views | June 14, 20XXÂ
"Hello, bonjou- Wait, why would I say that?"
You look behind the person who's holding the handheld camera before you. The cameraman can be heard chuckling behind the camera. Wearing a white blouse that was tied on your chest and a skimpy denim shorts, you were in the middle of filming the music video for the first single of your new album.
"I'm not even in France. I'm in a desert in California," you rambled before laughing. You signalled a scissor with your index and middle fingers, "Cut!"
"Hello, guys! This is YN. Of course, you already know that when you clicked this video," you chuckled. "We are currently on set for the Manchild music video."
[cut to the MANCHILD title card]
A quick montage of you preparing for the shoot was shown. From the makeup chair to the changing of clothes and arriving on the desert set. Short clips of you in other scenes were also presented. There was a zoomed-in shot of you in the middle of playing billiards after a cut; you winked at the BTS camera.
[cut to you back in the desert]
"So this is our first location of the day!" you smiled, putting your hand over your eyes so that you could look straight into the camera. "It is really hot today, and my makeup is so close to melting on my face. But, we won't tell Faye that because she worked hard for it."
[The camera nods in agreement.]
"Anyway, today is still a good day. I have been so excited to work on this since this is something we conceptualized while making the song while I was on the Asia leg of my tour."
"As you can see, I'm wearing this cute outfit while hitchhiking in the middle of nowhere." You spun around quickly. "Half of my ass is actually out."
You laughed, "And this blouse is one step close to being a scandal. So I asked someone to tape it on my skin here. Nonetheless, I love this outfit!"
[Cut to you standing with your heels on, on the side of the road with your thumb up. A red suitcase is placed next to you. A car passed by you and you turned to give it a middle finger.]
You were later seen watching the shot in the monitor with the director, laughing when you got the shot you wanted. You turned to the camera as you walked away from the tent.
"See? That's what happens when you don't help a girl out! You get the middle finger," you laughed. "Anyway, we'll be shooting just other scenes of me in this outfit, then I'll change to the other one."
[cut to a behind-the-scenes montage of a car stopping for you. You're talking to the driver before getting in.]
"Guys, as you know, I am a serious, method actor."
You are now in a matching blue gingham blouse, tied in the same way as the previous, and a mini skirt. A stylist is fixing your hair while you talk to the camera.
"So, we brought in my least favorite guy in the world." You playfully rolled your eyes when you locked eyes with someone off-cam.
The camera pans around, and a familiar face can be seen sitting on the actor's chair while scrolling on his phone. He wore a white suit with a leopard-print shirt underneath. Yoongi didn't bother to look up until you walked up to him and clicked the power button on his phone. He looked up, brows raised.
"You are an actor here, Yoongi. Stop being unprofessional!"
Yoongi stares at you for a beat, clearly unimpressed, "FYI, I was forced into this cameo."
You gasped dramatically, "Oh my god, are you saying that you got cast without going through auditions?! This is nepotism, everyone!"
The crew around you two chuckled at your banter with your bass guitarist.
"Ah, yes, because I literally sold my soul to the devil for this role." Yoongi deadpanned.
"And what is your role here again, Mr. Min?" You tried not to smile.
He crossed his arms over his chest as he nodded at the camera, "Man who drives the red car."
[cut to Yoongi listening to the director's orders as he got in the red car. She was giving him instructions while the camera panned to the side, where you were seen smiling as you watched.]
"I didn't tell him that I'll be on the hood while he drives the car," you giggled. "He would have said no to this if he knew. I just told him he will be one of the guys who'll drive me."
You laughed and were about to say something again, but the director called your name.
[Cut to you being assisted by two crew members to get on the car hood. Then, you lie on your stomach while holding on to the car. Yoongi can be seen poking his head out, confused as you laugh.]
"Wait, she's going on the car?!" he asked.
Everyone laughed at his reaction, including you, who looked down at him as one of the crew members handed you an unlit cigarette as a prop.
"I told you!" you said, playing with the prop.
"I thought you meant inside the car! With me!"
[cut to Yoongi driving the car while you lip-sync to the song's lyrics and chill on the hood. Then the director yelled "Cut!".]
Everyone was laughing again as soon as that happened. You were laughing too hard over the hood, as you spoke,
"What the fuck, Yoongi?!" you said in between laughs.
Yoongi stuck his head out of the driver's window. "What?"
"Why are you driving so slow?! That's like a turtle," your director teased him.
The BTS camera zooms in on Yoongiâs face, half hidden behind the sunglasses, his jaw tensed.
"I was making sure YN wonât slide off and die," he mutters, worry laced in his tone.
The production team's reaction varied. Others laughed harder, while some whispered collectively an affectionate "aww!" in unison. Including you, except you did it dramatically.
You pouted as you looked down at him, "Aww! Min Yoongi is worried about me!"
Before Yoongi could react, your director came in again, "Okay, let's try that again. Just a little faster this time, Yoongi."
[cut to Yoongi, driving again, and you, still doing the same thing. Then, cut to everyone clapping, indicating the scene is done and great. Yoongi is smiling, more relieved this time. He carefully often the door and immediately faced you with open arms. You were quick to understand what he meant and sat up to slowly get down from the hood with his assistance.]
[the camera cuts to you and Yoongi under the tent, both holding bottled waters. You each have handheld fans blowing in your direction, Faye is retouching your makeup. Yoongi is sitting slouched in the directorâs chair, and youâre perched on the armrest beside him, small mic in hand like youâre a talk show host.]
"So, how is your experience today, Mr. Cameo?" you asked, leaning toward him with a knowing grin.
Yoongi tilted his head, squinting up at you. "Stressful, won't do it ever again."
You gasped, pressing the back of your hand to your chest. "Excuse me? Stressful? You've got to drive a cool red car, wear sunglasses, and a cool leopard shirt over your white suit. Thatâs like, peak Yoongi brand."
He let out a dry laugh, then sipped his water. "I don't think killing you is in my branding."
The crew nearby chuckled at his answer. You turned dramatically toward the lens, shaking your head. "I'm just a professional actor, Yoongi. Just a girl who does her own stunts."
"Professional troublemaker," he muttered, just loud enough for the mic to catch.
You raised an eyebrow, "What?!"
"You heard me," he smirked.
[cut to you in another outfit, ready to shoot another scene. Yoongi, in his casual clothes, approached you and seemingly said goodbye. He waved to everyone while you two shared a quick hug. Then another cut to you, petting a puppy you were carrying in your arms.]
"Okay, another scene!"

DAY 301: PARIS, FRANCE
It's everywhere. Predictions about your possible Juno position for your second performance night in Paris are all over social media before you even officially land in the said country. It didnât help that you and your band members are active on social media, alluding that something is happening behind the scenes. There were also sightings of your close friend, another celebrity, who you knew was staying in France for his vacation. Your fans, who were already elated with the upcoming performance later tonight, flooded you with mentions on Twitter, which resulted in a short and unplanned Q and A.
You were in the middle of your rehearsal break when you finally got hold of your phone after posting that late IG story hours ago. Knowing how excited your fans are at the moment, you reinstalled your Twitter app just to have some interactions with them. It has been so long since you opened your account there, since you were avoiding seeing any tweets about your breakup from last year. You smiled as you typed in your tweet, along with a photo you prepared for today, swaying your feet as you sat at the edge of the stage.
While you have all of your focus on your phone, you didn't even notice Yoongi, who's sitting on one of the empty seats in the area where the VIP audience usually sits. He cannot help but smile while he sips his Americano, looking at you. He wondered what made you so giggly and smiley on your phone. Meanwhile, his phone kept on vibrating in his pocket, which made him reach for it. Thatâs when he got the answer to his curiosity. Notifications from your Twitter account popped up one after the other. He chuckled before clicking on the app to read more of your tweets.
You giggled at the friendly banter you had with one of your fans. Scrolling down the tag, you smiled even harder when you found an interesting question to reply to.
Yoongi had to laugh with that one. Hearing that, you turned your head up, finally seeing him sitting alone just a few feet down the stage. Your left eyebrow raised, wondering what made him laugh on his phone.
âWhere are the others?â you asked all of a sudden, just to get his attention.
Your bassist looked up and met your gaze. âThey went out for snacks. I got your coffee here.â
He points out the still-warm takeout coffee cup he has on the empty seat next to him. You smiled before reading yourself to jump from the stage rather than taking the stairs. Seeing that, Yoongi immediately stood up.
âHey, what are you doing?â
âIâll jump,â you replied, already inching yourself at the edge.
He clicked his tongue while shaking his head, âNo, just take the stairs.â
You pouted. âThis is easier. I hate the stairs.â
âYou might get hurt. Art and Cal will both kill me if I let you do that,â he said while walking towards you. He then stood just a few feet lower than you.
From your point of view, he looked nonchalant, yet he opened both his arms.
You squinted, âAre you gonna catch me?â
âNope, I just like opening my arms at random times like this,â he scoffed.Â
You rolled your eyes. âAnd I like jumping from high places.â
He shook his head again before telling you sternly, âI donât care. Just jump, diva.â
So you did. Even though you would have loved to continue the childish banter. And he did catch you, helping you carefully land your feet on the ground. Steadily and easily, he got you with one hand, holding you up against your back. Unconsciously, your face is almost buried in his neck, like you were magnets, they just connect instantly. Maybe it was because he still wore the familiar scent that makes butterflies stir in your stomach.
And maybe thatâs why you didnât pull away right away.
With how close you are, you can feel his heart beating almost at the same pace as yours. Fast and loud. Slowly pulling away, your eyes interlocked with each other. It was a heavy exchange of stares, anchored with something heart-fluttering that you two didnât have to label anymore. A small smile tugged at your lips as you noticed his eyes moving down.
âThank you,â you whispered before stepping back.
Yoongi followed behind you, trying not to put his hand over his beating chest. He sat in a seat apart next to you while you took a sip of the coffee. The much-needed caffeine helped you feel warmer and comfortable in your baby blue sweatshirt.Â
âYou liked it?â he asked even though he already knew the answer.
âYep, I needed that. Thank you,â you replied, putting down the cup. You turned to him. âWhy are you here, by the way? You donât want to explore the city in your free time? Weâre only here for a few days.â
He shrugged, âI donât know, I just had this gut feeling that you will do something reckless and I need to stick around.â
It was your turn to scoff, âYoongi, just say you stayed behind for me. Itâs okay.â
He looked at you, brows furrowed, âDonât flatter yourself.â
And he didnât even deny it, you thought to yourself.
As soon as everyone got back, the rehearsal resumed. This time, it was a dress rehearsal. So you had more time and room for errors and adjustments. While Art is talking with the band about something related to your time on stage, you take a quick scroll on your phone. You instantly took notice of a certain tweet getting a lot of attention. You laughed at it as it sparked something in your brain. You swiped up your finger on the app to see more tweets from your fans, but a notification from a verified account popped up. You turned around to see Yoongi raising his brows. You typed in your phone before giving it to your very pregnant assistant, Cal.
The fishbowl method.
That method is known to be Yoongi's greatest enemy. Whenever any staff member of your tour brings out that glass bowl that was filled with rolled papers, he just knows he will hear his name from that staff memberâs tongue. And today is no different day.
It was during the second rehearsal break of the day when Cal came in holding the infamous transparent bowl.
âSo, everyone, this is for the Juno performance. We need two people for tonight,â she said it like itâs gonna be something fun.
Although Yoongi literally had no idea why, everyone seemed to be excited upon hearing Calâs instructions as they cheered, including you. Fred, who is happily married and permanently removed from choices for the Juno performance participants, sat along with you and your dancers. He was cheering too. For more variety, the fishbowl included the names of your band members and dancers.
âYN, will you do the honors of picking two names in our bowl of names?â Cal called you up.Â
âOkay, here we go. Drumroll, please,â you quipped, but Fred followed, running to his drums and playing them.
Knowing his fate, Yoongi was not surprised anymore when he heard his name after Noahâs. He is not even disappointed or frustrated. He just accepted and expected that the fishbowl method loves him. But what he did not expect was the reason for todayâs fishbowl method. While you explained your plan for tonightâs Juno performance pose, Yoongi just shook his head with a smile as he was already used to your straightforward poses. He just didnât expect that you could be this creative for positions.
âSo, do you want to be at the back or the front?â Noah asked, which can sound strange without context.
Yoongi blinked, âWhat?â
He was obviously dumbfounded, making the others laugh. You tried not to laugh while you bit off your inner cheek.
âHe means for the Eiffel Tower,â you explained, which didnât really clarify anything for him.
Noah cuts in to help, âWe are basically the tower itself, while YN is the centerpiece. She will bend forward, and we-â he clasped his hands together, âAre gonna high-five over her.â
âThatâs your Juno position for tonight?!â Yoongi looked at him, then to you.
You nodded enthusiastically, âYeah, the Eiffel Tower!â
When it finally registered in his head, everyone can see Yoongiâs shoulders deflating as he shakes his head with a smile. Just smiling over how stupid yet creative this whole thing is. His defeated stance made Fred and the dancers laugh.Â
âI swear, we should change that fishbowl method,â he muttered, pushing his hair back.
âI think the fishbowl likes you a lot,â you teased him.
âI donât think it was just the fishbowl,â he replied, making you pause while you three walk to the heart-shaped center stage.
Noah, who did not hear that last line since he walked faster, snapped his fingers, âCatch up, lovers. Letâs do this test run for the Eiffel Tower. Iâm honestly starting to feel like the third wheel here.â
He said the name sarcastically, which resulted to you rolling your eyes and Yoongi scratching the back of his neck. You get into the position. You have your sparkly mic in your right hand, singing the last line before the pose.Â
âWanna try out some freaky position?âÂ
The guys stood on your front and back. Noah was on the front, while Yoongi was behind you.
âHave you ever tried⊠this one?âÂ
You bent forward as Yoongi and Noah high-fived over you, which instantly earned some whistling and cheers from your tour staff and dancers. You laughed, making you lose balance and accidentally grind against Yoongi. You only snapped out of it when he instinctively gripped your hips to steady you in place.
Noah, who saw this happen, gaped, âOh my god, someone wash my eyes with holy water.â
Being the dramatic one, he threw up his hands and walked away in exaggerated disbelief. You and Yoongi, on the other hand, seemed to be in your own little world as you looked over your shoulder to look at him.
âOops, sorry,â you said without really meaning it.Â
He raised an eyebrow, âReally?â
You shrugged, standing back up, âEh.â
Noah groaned from afar, leaning on one of the big speakers near their instruments, âWhere is the HR for this tour?! I need to report something!â
The joke made everyone laugh. Akio, being the second most dramatic one in the band, dramatically consoled Noah. You stifled a laugh, turning around in their direction.
âOh my god, youâre making me look like Iâm a problem here.â you fed into their little bit that was going on.
Your best friend accusedly pointed out his finger, âYou are the problem, and so is Tower B over there.â
Mr. Tower B, who stood next to you, remained casual as he muttered, âI donât mind whatâs going on. I kinda liked the view.â
The subtle smugness in his statement got a loud reaction from everyone. Fred laughed. The dancers howled. Akio and Noah groaned. The rehearsals are getting a little messier so Art had to step in.
âOkay, everyone. Letâs go rehearse the performance from the top again,â he signalled the dancers to stand up before turning to you and Yoongi. âAnd less thrusting, this time.â
You gasped even though you knew he was just teasing you, âThere was no thrusting! I accidentally ground against him, thatâs very much different!â
Art gave you a look that said, âUh-huh, sure.â
Yoongi remained unbothered, âYeah, thrusting is different. It requires intent.â
With that unexpected remark, the room erupted with laughter. All while your eyes widened, feeling the blood rushing to your cheeks.
âYoongi!â you scolded him through an embarrassed gritted grin.
He looked at you, nonchalant as he blinked innocently, âWhat? I was just explaining!â

DAY 93: TOKYO, JAPAN
It took you one song in the rehearsals to notice someone sitting in one of the empty seats of Tokyo Dome. You were specifically singing the bridge for Taste when you spotted a brunette, wearing a baseball cap, on the very back seats in the floor area. It was easy for you to recognize she is not part of your tour staff since everyone has a uniform lanyard for their IDs. She has a neon green lanyard, indicating that sheâs somebodyâs visitor.
But the brunette woman is not some other woman, you know her. You recognized her. The one from The Late Late Show. The writer who kept bringing up great ideas and witty lines for you during the show. The one who was with your bass guitarist the whole night during the afterparty in December.
âBea!â
It was during the rehearsalâs end that you fully processed who she is. You were on stage, in the middle of a three-person conversation with Art and your tour director, when you saw Yoongi walk up to Bea with two cups of coffee in his hands.
Why is she here?
The question formed in your head. Watching from a distance, you felt like a hawk, observing how they easily chat and laugh with Bea, unconsciously patting your bassistâs lap every time she giggles. Yoongi seemed comfortable with her, with his arm resting behind her chair. Then, another question made you wanna throw up.
Are they together?
âHey. YN.â Donny, your tour director, snapped his fingers in front of you, snatching your attention from the couple. âDo you understand?â
âYe⊠Yeah,â you nodded, stuttering since anything he said barely registered in your brain.
âGood. So you agree with the neon green lights and balloons?â he asked.
Lines formed between your brows, âHuh?â
The two men chuckled at your confused reaction. Donny simply tapped Artâs shoulder, âIâm just kidding. Iâm sure Art understood everything; he can explain if you have questions. Okay? Take a rest for now, YN.â
You just smiled as he walked away, leaving you alone with your tour manager, who can easily tell whatâs distracting you. He crossed his arms as he watched you look at Yoongi and his friend.
âIn case youâre wondering, Yoongi asked for an extra ticket for her to watch your show tomorrow.â Art shared.
You looked at him, âAre theyâŠâ
You cannot even finish the question. Because halfway, you realized how stupid it is to ask about your infamous not-friendâs relationship status with a girl he surely has great chemistry with.Â
When did she even get here in Tokyo?Â
You and the whole concert team flew here just yesterday, so that you can fully prepare yourself for the tourâs first show in Asia. Especially since the current weather in Japan is very different from LA. Amidst the awkwardness you have with Yoongi, you thought you could just convert all your frustrations into attention and focus to rehearse for the rest of the tour. But how? How am I suppose to fucking focusâ
âDating? I donât know. But his asking for a ticket and visitor pass kinda says a lot.â Art shrugged, knowing well that he was stirring something hot. Both he and Cal have already chatted about this weird tension between you and Yoongi. But since neither of you two will say anything might as well just let the whole thing steam. He asked, âWhy?â
âNothing.â You turned your head away and walked away, avoiding Artâs look, to go get yourself something strong to drink. Maybe a shot of espresso.
âMy god, this is so bitter.âÂ
After sipping from the coffee he got her, Bea mumbled under her breath. She didnât say it in a way that meant to offend him, Yoongi knows. So he offered the warm cup in his hand, still unopened.
âYou can take mine. Americano, itâs less bitter.âÂ
âThank you.â Bea smiled, swapping their drinks. âBut my god, isnât it a red flag if a person drinks espresso as their choice of coffee? Like, no water? Creamer?â
Yoongi simply chuckled at that, but because he remembered someone else who did like espresso. He learned that fact about you in his first week being your bassist. You were grumpy for the first rehearsals, and Cal asked him to hand you your coffee after he passed by you in the catering area. She was obviously busy with other stuff, so Yoongi didnât mind a simple help of giving you your espresso. He remembered seeing how your face brightened the moment that caffeine hit your system. You squirmed and smiled for the first time that day.
âAnyway, enough with the coffee talk here,â Bea tapped his lap, âAre you sure itâs okay for me to be here?â
âYeah, of course. Why?â Yoongi raised a brow.
âNothing, itâs just that it feels weird. Everyone around me is working, and Iâm just sitting here by myself, watching you guys. Iâm so used to being a part of the group thatâs busy preparing for the upcoming show,â she laughed, referring to her late-night job.
âItâs fine, youâre a visitor of mine. Plus, youâre not really causing any trouble here.â Yoongi assured her. âAnd donât stress out on not stressing out right now. Thatâs why youâre here, right? You needed a break from being busy.â
She agreed, leaning on her chair, âI really do. Fortunately, you guys came here at the same time I am staying here! I canât wait to watch YN again! I heard that she got new outfits, is that true?â
âStill doing your advanced research?â he teased her.
âItâs in my DNA,â she replied, smiling, before her phone buzzed. âWait, Iâll just take this one.â
Bea stood up and left to answer the call. Meanwhile, Yoongi looked back on the stage, where he last saw you minutes ago. He sees you talking with Art before walking away, seemingly so out of it since you almost tripped on the stairs. His eyes followed you as you left for the exit way. He wished you would just do the same thing in his head.Â
Exit.Â
Because ever since that night after the afterparty, Yoongi wasnât really able to function well. When you asked him to leave your room that night, he was embarrassed and confused, and it led him to book the earliest flight from New York to LA just so he could avoid you in the planned meeting tomorrow. During that six-hour flight, Yoongi barely slept a wink.Â
"I-I think we crossed a line that we probably should not have."
You said that night. That kiss was a mistake. That giggling and banter in the middle of your makeout was a mistake. He was a mistake. To you. He apologized before leaving your room that night, since maybe he had crossed the line. Maybe he misunderstood that you two are way past those immature banters you shared for months. But it hit him during that same flight that maybe you two would never really get along well. Yoongi tried to excuse the whole thing as a result of too much drinking, even though he barely tasted the alcohol on your tongue. Hell, he can even taste the sweet strawberry from your lip gloss.
Spending Christmas with his family, Yoongi tried to let go of whatever happened that night. But he was so consumed by the thought of you that he almost forgot that it was his first holiday as a single man after his failed engagement with Sara. If it wasnât with his aunt accidentally bringing up his ex, Yoongi would have forgotten that he and Sarah were supposed to tie the knot in January of the upcoming year.Â
But once Yoongi sat in that cafe with her, Sara was nothing but humble and apologetic. She mentioned she didnât want to end the year without confessing her true remorse for what she had done to him. Yoongi thought that the conversation would end with him still being a bitter man. But it didnât. Like real mature people, he and Sara talked about everything. She openly answered his questions and heavily pressed on the fact that he was faultless for what happened with their relationship. She took accountability for everything, apologizing for how she had wronged him.Â
She did cry. A lot. Maybe partly because of hormones. But Yoongi knew that Sara was genuinely guilty. He knew that apologizing had always been hard for her after years of them being together. So he accepted her apologies. Then, to calm her down, they began talking again like friends. Yoongi was mature enough to ask her about her pregnancy, wanting to know how sheâs doing after the breakup and with this new phase of her life. She did the same thing, congratulating him for going on tour with a pop star. Something she held him back to during their relationship.
âYou seemed really happy on stage with her,â Sara mentioned, something that somehow stayed in his mind until now.
As someone who knows him best, Sara will be the most verified person to say that. But Yoongi tried to shake it off during the chat. When he got home that day, he turned off his phone for the next two days so that he could avoid searching you up ever again. Then the new year came. He celebrated alone at his apartment, not really in the mood to go to a friendâs big party where he had been invited to. Instead, Yoongi got himself an expensive bottle of wine and played with his guitar until the fireworks outside set off. He finally opened his phone to greet his parents and friends. He just finished a call with his mom when he got a call. This time, itâs you. You were drunk and crying. He doesnât even know if you remember the conversation you two had in that call.
âI hate receiving calls like that!âÂ
Yoongi snapped his head when Bea came back, sitting next to him. He blinked, scolding himself in his head for drifting away.
âWhat happened?â he asked, trying to stay present.
âWork stuff. Apparently, there are some documents they need from me, and I have them in my apartment back in LA, soâŠâ She rolled her eyes. âIâll book the earliest flight after tomorrowâs show.â
âWell,â Yoongi stood up, âI guess we have to make the most of your time here?â
Bea smiled, âYeah, that sounds great.â
The two began walking to the same exit way you had walked on earlier. Since the domeâs main gates, where fans come in and out, are still closed, they have to take the way where crew members go in and out of, which means they came across everyone.
âHey, lovebugs!â Noah called them as they passed by the band, who were chatting in the catering area. Yoongi and Bea just shake their heads at the nickname, shrugging it off. âWhere are you off to?â
âWeâll just go around the city. Maybe eat and visit some nearby spots.â Bea replied.
Yoongi added, âYeah, but this one has to leave after the show tomorrow. So, weâll just do it now. You can come with us if you want to.â
âOh, we will,â Fred said before they all stood up, cleaning up their table.
While waiting for them, Yoongi listened to Beaâs impromptu itinerary. She mentioned something about a nearby garden and various fancy cafes, but all of it became a noise when Yoongi noticed you walked in with Cal and a slight frown on your lips. He felt like a ghost, watching you like he were invisible. Before, you complained about his eyes throwing daggers, but those daggers seemed to fly over your head since you act like you wonât even see him. Then, he sees Noah walk up to you.
âItâs cold, isnât it?â Bea yanked him back to reality, waving her now-empty coffee cup in his sight.
âHmm?â Yoongi hummed, not really catching up.
Bea, who has been observant ever since she came here today, simply smiled, âI said, itâs cold outside. We should get thicker coats in Kagurazaka.â
Yoongi nodded quietly, slightly embarrassed that he had been spacing out a lot lately. Noah then walked to them while hooking his arm with yours. You were looking at everyone except Yoongi, who is now in front of you.
âSheâs coming with us. YNâs a little bummed out that thereâs no espresso left here. Weâre getting her that outside.â Your best friend cheered you up like a little kid.
Yoongi noticed you smile, but it did not reach your eyes. He looked down at the still-full coffee cup in his hand. Should he just give it to you? Maybe not. Itâs already cold. So cold.
You really have no energy to stroll around the city for some reason. But Noah insists that you join them: âStop moping around and come with us.â
âI am not moping around. Why would I mop around? Itâs my first show after a few weeks for Godâs sake,â you replied, denying whatever he was throwing at you. âAnd I already agreed that Iâm joining you guys.â
âThen donât drag your feet to walk.â Noah teased. âAnd please. Stop glaring at Yoongi.â
You rolled your eyes at him, âI am not glaring at anyone. I just need my espresso, and Iâm gonna be okay.â
Excuses, excuses. You whispered in your head. Walking behind the group, Noah made sure to keep you company since everyone walked in pairs. Fred and Akio. You and Noah. Bea and Yoongi.Â
You canât help but watch them. Those two act like they have known each other for the longest time. They seemed pretty comfortable with each other. Why does it look like itâs easy for them to be with each other? You can see Yoongi, who usually gives you blank stares, and his gummy smile from where you stand behind them, while Bea points out something and laughs. They are like sunshine, while you and Yoongi are ice-cold like the weather today in Japan.
Sighing, you looked down at your white boots walking on the pavement.
âYou know, if you keep sighing like that, can you at least tell me whatâs going on?â Noah mumbled beside you.
You looked up, forcing a smile, âNothing. Just a little nervous for tomorrow.â
âYNâŠâ your friend paused and tucked a part of your hair behind your ear, âYour nose is saying something else.â
He chuckled as your eyes widened before holding your nose. Everyone who has known you for a while knows that when you say something untrue, your nose flares.Â
âWhatever. But you know that I am always here for you, right?â he asked, and you nodded, leaning your head on his arm.
It took more minutes of walking until you found the cafe that Bea talked about. She turned around, pointing at it from a distance.
âThat is the one! I have seen so many TikTok videos about their matcha latte!â
âOh, yeah! Iâve been there once too, when I flew here last holiday. I think you guys will love their croffles.â Akio added enthusiastically.
Akio and Bea went in first, excited to see the menu. Yoongi held the door for everyone. You were the last one to walk in, and you tried not to look back as you could feel his eyes on you. Even though you wonât say anything, you can always feel when heâs looking at you.
The moment you got in, you noticed how warm the cafe is. Itâs cozy and well-lit, following the beige and white aesthetic for everything. Soft jazz music plays in the background as the soothing aroma of coffee fills the place. Before looking for a spot, everyone came in front of the display case to see what pastries were available. You were quiet while everyone chose.
âCroffles or that tiramisu?âÂ
You heard a voice behind you. But instead of turning around or answering, you stepped away and stood next to Fred, who was already lining up to order for everyone. He was looking at the menu board when he noticed you next to him, unaware of your avoidance of someone.
âHow âbout you? Still espresso?â
You smiled, wordlessly, nodding your head. As everyone found the perfect spot to sit on, you decided to stay with your drummer. There are still two people ahead of you, so you two get to chat a little.
âMy wife would have loved that heart-shaped strawberry mousse. She loves cute pastries like those,â he told you, making you smile with that wholesome thought.
âLaraâs a pastry chef, right?âÂ
He nods, âYep, she runs her own shop back in LA. Baking has always been her passion ever since we were kids.â
âYou two were childhood sweethearts?! Thatâs really sweet,â you swooned.
He chuckled, âNot really, we knew each other since we were kids. But we only got together in our late 20s. My mom always told me it took us too long to finally be together.âÂ
You smiled at that, looking at the heart-shaped cake in the display case, âMaybe not. Maybe, you two are just like one of those slow burnersâŠâ
âYeah, maybe,â he smiled as he remembered his wife. âIt took us almost twenty years and five failed relationships to realize that maybe weâre meant for each other. Great things take time.â
As if on cue, it was your turn to order. Fred did all the talking, and you just stood there. But you can feel that the cashier recognized you, which is fair since you were not really wearing anything that could cover your face. She shyly said hi to you, and you greeted her back with a smile. After ordering, the staff told you that your orders would be served. Walking to the table your friends chose, you quickly noticed the available seats left. One is next to Bea and Akio, and the other is between Noah⊠and Yoongi. Noah finally noticed you in the middle of their chat, immediately seeing your hesitation on the seating arrangement. He raised his brow as if he were telling you to just come sit next to him. You exhaled before finally walking over to sit between the two.
Who knew that a gentle brush on the knee could make him shiver?
Yoongi shifted from his seat the moment your knee accidentally touched his when you just sat down beside him. He tried to focus on the front of him, where Bea sat, but she was already deep into the chat with the others. Their conversation was bouncing from one topic to another. Noah spoke about the nearby garden theyâll visit later, making Yoongi look at his way. But instead of his eyes landing on his bandmate, he found you scrolling on your phone.Â
But you barely reacted to whatever your screen showed you. It was like you were mindlessly scrolling just to not look awkward with people around you. But he can tell. He hates that he can tell. Yoongi turned his gaze back to Bea, who was now speaking.
âOh my god, they are playing your song.â Bea gasped, referring to you. âThatâs my favorite from your recent EP.â
âThank you,â you finally spoke, smiling in a way that Yoongi could tell was forced.
Just as their orders were being served, a familiar song was playing all over the place. It was one of the songs he worked with you during those late nights of last yearâs December. He remembered you knocking on his hotel room door just moments after you got back from your shows, showing up in your most casual clothes. Maybe handing him coffee or chips the moment he opened the door for you. You two would exchange opinions on making your song, but never argue about it.
Yoongi was too filled with thoughts of you that he unconsciously reached for the freshly brewed espresso and placed it in front of you. You looked at him, slightly surprised. But he didnât meet your eyes. Instead, he was already looking at Bea. You wanted to thank him, but opted to just take a sip of your most-awaited espresso.
âOh, isnât this pretty?â she swooned over the croffles that were topped with whipped cream and various types of berries.Â
Akio showed off the different slices of different cakes, ordered by others, too, âLook at these, too!â
âOh, let me take a picture. Iâll send it to my wife.â Fred stood up and hovered over the table to capture a good picture of the pastries.
After that, Bea unexpectedly placed a slice of strawberry shortcake in front of you, âYou should try this one. I donât know why, but I ordered them for you because it reminded me of your cute outfit today.â
That made you giggle. Genuinely, for the first time today. âThank you, youâre so sweet, Bea.â
Slight relief washes over Yoongi when he hears that light and soft laugh from you. You picked up your fork and sliced a corner of the shortcake gently before taking a bite. He can tell you liked it as you chewed, nodding your head.
âI love it,â you said mid-chew before offering, âYou guys should try it!â
Yoongi quietly watched as you pushed the plate in the center of the table so that everyone could get a taste. He watched you look at everyoneâs reactions with delight. Noahâs random moan like he just fell in love with cake made everyone laugh. You laughed so hard, your smile finally reached your eyes, which made Yoongi smile too.
The day went on with you being much more active than you were earlier. You were laughing a lot over Noahâs jokes and telling everyone how beautiful the garden is. You felt much lighter as you walked into the tranquil Korakuen Garden.Â
âThe espresso really helps, huh?â Noah whispered next to you.
You chuckled, âDefinitely.â
Looking around, you walked ahead when you saw a koi pond. You took out your phone to take pictures, something you will post on your stories soon. You cannot help but smile at how pretty everything is. But then, when you turned around, your shoulders slowly deflated like popped balloons when you spotted Yoongi taking pictures of Bea candidly under the cherry blossoms. You pursed your lips, trying not to frown. You just looked back at the pond, exhaling whatever youâve been feeling.
âHey, YN! Come here.â
Turning around once again, you see Akio motioning her hand for you to come stand next to her and for Noah to take group pictures. And that's what happened for the next few hours, you joined the band to avoid being quiet and alone with your messy feelings. You linked arms with Akio and Noah, talking about anything. Fred joined in, too. You also had quick, short chats with Bea about the weather and your recent experiences while staying here in the foreign country.
You learned that she came to Japan after asking for a two-week break. But it has only been a week, and she told you she has to go back to New York after your show tomorrow.
âThatâs unfair, you asked for two weeks!â you protested to her as you two walked side by side while Yoongi stayed behind with Fred. You are now on your way to the nearest shopping district, which is Kagurazuka.
âI know!â Bea exclaimed, matching your energy. âBut I think itâs better to just go home early. I miss working in that hectic show anyway.â
âOh my god, Bea. Youâre having Stockholm Syndrome,â you quipped, making her laugh.
âMaybe I am, but Iâm making money off it anyway.â
While you two laughed once again, someone watched behind you quietly. Although Yoongi is relieved to see you get more comfortable, he cannot help but notice how you talked with everyone except him. You even got closer to Bea. The moment you two got into your own little chat, Yoongi began thinking that you were avoiding him. He tried reaching out, asking you about pastries, even unconsciously handing you your coffee, and tried to stand next to you when Bea made you and the band take a group photo, but you exchanged spots with Akio.
He tried not to think much of it, making up reasons in his head just to avoid making the distance between you two bigger. Maybe you did not hear him when he asked about croffles and tiramisu, maybe you said thanks for the coffee, he just didnât hear it, or you just like standing at the end of a group photo instead of the center. But Yoongi got the confirmation on his hunch when he found himself standing a few feet next to you in front of a quirky souvenir shop in the not-so-busy shopping district of Kagurazaka. Your friends were inside buying gifts for their family and friends back home, while you decided to wait outside, and so did Yoongi.
It has been ten minutes since you two have been alone. The sun sets between the small buildings of the district while Yoongi watches you watch everything that walks in front of you. A couple holding hands as they giggle. Another tourist with a couple of shopping bags in each hand. A little boy holding a fish-shaped bread next to his mother. He saw the corner of your lips pull up as you eyed the cute kid.
âHe looked like he won the lottery,â he said, trying to break the silence and start a conversation.
But you just smiled wearily, still not looking at him, âHe does.â
That type of response is kind of hard to follow for someone who is often quiet like Yoongi. But heâs trying, heâs really trying to make a sensible conversation with you. Something that can assure him that the silent treatment wonât be permanent for the rest of the tour. So he tried once again, keeping his hands in his coatâs pockets.
âThis is a really peaceful place for a shopping district, donât you think?â
You nodded, âYeah, it is.â
Then, silence joined in again, standing between you two. And Yoongi felt that he could not really do much anymore since you were not really interested in talking with him. He waited for you to say something. Five seconds. Thirty seconds. A minute. Then a few more minutes passed before he pressed his lips together and stared at the cobblestone pavement.
âAm IâŠâ he paused, feeling his chest tighten, âIs me, being here, bothering you?â
Yoongi saw you in his peripheral turning your head in his direction before looking away again. You murmured, âNo.â
âIâm starting to feel like Iâm not supposed to be here. With you,â he whispered, letting his honest thoughts roll off his tongue.
âYou are, Yoongi. You are supposed to be here. Youâre my bassist,â you told him, saying the first thing in your head.
You meant good with that, Yoongi knows. But somehow that last line stings. Something snapped in his head, reminding him that maybe heâs just overthinking everything.
So he lets out a dry chuckle, âAh, yes. Thatâs right, just youâre bassist.â
After noticing the time, everyone decided to finally go back to the hotel and rest. You were grateful that you and everyone could just take a walk from everything you went to today, then back to your hotel. Except for Bea, who has her booked Airbnb in the other city because she came here earlier.
âGuys, I need to go. My rideâs here,â she smiled sadly as everyone arrived in the hotel lobby. She then began hugging everyone goodbye, including you, âI had so much fun. Thank you so much for letting me tag along with you. Iâll watch you tomorrow.â
You smiled, waving at her, as she walked away with Yoongi, who you assumed walked her to her ride. You watched their backs quietly. He was carrying her shopping bags and opened the door for her. They were still talking as they went out.
âI was thinking of visiting their bar here tonight,â Noah brought up, making you look back at your left group.
You smiled, âNoah, we have a show tomorrow.â
âI know! But Akio and I just want to visit it. I heard they have a jazz band every night, just want to see and listen,â he insisted. âDonât you want to come?â
âI canât,â you shook your head. âI think Iâm already tired from all the walking we did. And I canât drink before any show. I do stupid things.â
A lot of stupid shit.
âIâll go with you!â Fred joined in, moving next to his two younger bandmates. âDonât worry, YN, Iâll make sure that they wonât get drunk tonight.â
Akio joked, âOkay, Dad.â
Everyone laughed at that. Eventually, you parted with them. They went to the hotel bar while you walked to the elevator. You have to wait for a new one for a few minutes until the doors open. You got in, so ready to get into your room to change into your pajamas and rest. The doors were about to close in a few seconds when a hand slid in, triggering the sensors to open the doors again.
Of course, itâs Yoongi.
You looked away, your hands forming into fists inside your coatâs pockets. Yoongi walked in and stood on the opposite corner of the elevator. You and Yoongi in the elevator seemed to be a dangerous formula based on your last interaction in the same place. Completely opposite from your past closeness in the elevator back when you two got back from the afterparty, the air has completely shifted now. You stared at the mirrored walls in front of you, not wanting to look at him.
âSo, is this how itâs gonna be until this tour ends?â he calmly whispered, leaning on the rail.
Yoongi took the initiative to break the silence once again because itâs getting hard. His chest is being filled with an overwhelming amount of words that he cannot let out. His brain is gonna explode with the thoughts filling it. All while his heart beats like crazy underneath his chest.
âWhat?â you mumbled.
He sighed, âYou wonât talk to me or worse, even look at me? Like Iâm just a ghost to you.â
Instead of answering, your eyes find comfort in the numbers counting down the floors your elevator passed by. You know you cannot do this forever, but you also know that you cannot do this right now with how messy your head is. So when you hear the familiar ding, you immediately step outside the doors.
Yoongi followed behind you, âYeah, leave. Thatâs right.â
âI was not the first one who left,â you bit back without turning around, just walking to your door.
That sentence quickly made his blood boil, yet Yoongi tried to remain calm: âYou were the one who asked me to leave that night, YN. You said there was a line we probably shouldnât have crossed, and I understood. Itâs fine. But you called me during New Yearâs, and I donât know whatâs happening anymore, YN.â
Itâs pointless to fight over that because you know that in the end, you were the one in the wrong. You were the one who made him leave, pointing out how everything is a mistake before it can even happen. You were also the one who called him, drunk, probably crying over him. But still, your head feels like a ransacked office. There are papers everywhere, drawers were all open and disheveled, and youâre just standing in the middle, helplessly not knowing what to do.Â
You gathered up all of the courage in your system and finally turned around to look at him, âI donât know what you want from me, Yoongi.â
âTalk, I want to talk with you, YN,â he whispered. He sounds tired yet calm and patient.
âI am talking with you right now.âÂ
He sighed, âYou know what the hell I mean. I want us to talk about what happened. About us.â
âThereâs no us to begin with,â you replied, and you can see something shift through his eyes. His brows scrunched together. But you went on, âand whatâs the point anyway? Youâre with someone else alreââ
âBeaâs a friend,â he cuts you off, quickly cleaning up any of your assumptions about his relationships. âJust a friend I invited to come watch. Thatâs all.â
âYeah, right.â you chuckled dryly before attempting to open the door, but Yoongi held the knob before you can.
You still donât believe him a hundred percent, Yoongi can tell. He continued, âShe was not here to make you jealous. She saw my story that Iâm in Tokyo, asked about the show, and I invited her to watch. Iâm sorry that Iââ
âWhy are you apologizing?!â you snapped, like his apologizing is making everything harder for you. You can feel tears stinging in the corners of your eyes just because of how patient he is with you. âYou donât have to say sorry for that, Yoongi. You donât owe me that.â
Your voice cracked at the end as you said his name. You looked down, feeling cornered. Yoongiâs shoulders tensed down. He wanted to reach out, hold you in his arms. But before he could step forward, you spoke again.
âWhy do you want to talk with me?â
âI,â he sighed. âI just want us to go back the way we were before.â
âBefore?â you repeated with your tone showing slight sarcasm. âYoongi, before that night, we barely talked properly. Weâre just co-workers who often disagree on things, flirt on stage, and ignore each other backstage.â
You clenched your fists as you let those lies come out of your mouth. It was untrue because when you look at him, you see someone who wrote and produced songs with him until 2 AM. The one whoâs quiet and patient with every gimmick you pull during performance, going along easily. Someone who apologized even though he did not make you cry intentionally and bought you that thick souvenir notebook from Milwaukee, the one she brings with her everywhere to write songs on. And mostly, he is the only one who can easily read your thoughts just by staring at you quietly.
And maybe that's what led you to say those words to him. Yoongi is not just some person or colleague that you will see at work every day. But heâs your bassist. The moment everyone finds out about your messy situation with him, you will be much more than the provocative popstar who flirts. That title will change into the provocative popstar who flirts a lot with her bassists, considering that your last partner was also your past bassist.
The headlines. The gossip. The whispers. You can already imagine the names they will call you if ever you let Yoongi into your world.
âIs that so? Thatâs all it was to you?â Yoongi asked that calmly, sending a shiver down your spine. But he looked at you like you just slapped him across his face.
Suddenly, he felt like he could not read you anymore. Because he thought he understood everything right. He sensed that you were scared about crossing the professional boundaries you two have in the middle. Hence why you told him that night that you crossed the line you two probably should not have.
He even went so far, to assume that you feel the same thing every time you two end up staring into each otherâs eyes.Â
But maybe he was wrong.
Maybe you are really just a good performer. Someone who can really make people feel the words you were singing through your eyes. Maybe he is just stupid to believe that the jokes, stares, and kisses meant something more than just humor and gimmicks.Â
So he took a step back, nodding, âFine, maybe we donât have anything to talk about anymore.â
There was a finality in his tone when you heard that. Surrender. You didnât dare to say anything. Instead, you bit your lower lip to avoid it from shaking too much. Yoongi looked at you like he was still waiting for you to say something, but you avoided his gaze and looked down.
Receiving nothing from you, Yoongi took it as a sign and walked away, taking all the strength in him not to look back.
âYou wonât talk to me or worse, even look at me? Like Iâm just a ghost to you.â
His words repeated in your head as you lay on your bed hours after that conversation. Another tear slipped from your eyes, rolling down to your cheeks. You groaned, reaching for a pen and your favorite notebook. Writing the first words in your head,
You should take it as a compliment that I'm talkin' to everyone here but you
