hsmbisexual replied to your post “how do us #ethnic girls manage moving out of our parent’s house, like...”
lmfao this is so relatable!!! like my brother is moving for uni at cambridge and i’m literally so envious because i don’t know when i’ll be getting the personal freedom i desperately need, like i mentioned it a while ago and my mum straight up said if i moved out before getting married she’d have a heart attack
right? like why are parents so irritated by daughters wanting to look after themselves but sons aren’t an issue 😔 i think they’re all just stuck in that traditional mindset where they just have their girls wait around for a man to pick them up and take them away and then they don’t have to worry about them anymore, but today we don’t want that we have to find jobs and uni and stuff, and sometimes that involves travel so they freak out bc they’re not used to that

hsmbisexual replied to your post: [talking to this dude in person] me: hey, do you...
boys are strange !
so true!! i don’t really know or interact w many boys at all so i feel like a freakin’ sociologist or anthropologist or something just like. watching dudes and taking notes. like. is this actually how they’re socialized? we appear to be communicating but how effectually? should i cut back to the basics and try to teach him sign language?? should i stop interacting and just observe behavior for a few years??
americano, frappe, instant !
thanks nishat!! 💜
americano: do you find the ocean frightening? as a concept and as a social place? no. I am absolutely an Ocean Gay (more like sailing/swimming, not really beach). as essentially a unexplored, giant, endless pit covering 70% of the earth? a little.
frappe: do you cook carefully or improvise? look i like food but i hate cooking bc i’m not good at it and also it makes dirty dishes which i also hate so when i do cook, i absolutely improvise. making pasta? see some spinach? throw it in there, who cares. pasta congealing? any milk/wine/water/beer/stock on hand? pour it in till it’s stir-able idfk.
instant: is there any advice you’re tired of hearing? y e s.[jeez, i’m trying to think of how to phrase it and i want to Stab.] something along the lines of “you’ll figure it out/you’ll be fine, you always do/are.” it started in high school when i’d freak out majorly about huge assignments or tests and everyone i turned to for assistance (usually adults) would just say that instead of helping me talk out the problem. did i pass? yes. did i get a perfect score? not vital, but no. it amplified in university when i had to deal w adult things and didn’t have a local support network so i’d turn to those same adults w my anxieties and they’d just answer that instead of offering options to help. i.e. “I don’t know how to make friends here, what should I do?” “You’ve always worried abt that and you’ve always had friends, it’ll be fine” – did i die at university? no. I did, however, come away with some weird mental cocktail of most likely social and anxiety disorders so was I really fine?
