I fucking love him!! Also, can I just say I am, like, #1 supplier of young Joseph content? Because I totally am.

author’s note: ok i really didn’t know what to title this so i guess that’s good enough???? LOLL. anyway, i went out bowling with my family tonight and this idea popped into my head. it’s pretty short, but enjoy :)

summary: you and hs!joe go out for a night at the bowling alley with your family and joe has a surprise planned for you ;)

“Ready to leave, joe?” you asked your boyfriend as you watched your family put their jackets on. You and joe had been dating for four years now and your parents loved him - his parents loved you too - so he was always invited for family activities.

    “Yep,” he responded with a warm smile, grabbing your hand and walking out the door with your family. As you got into the car, joe left his hand intertwined with yours and pulled out his phone and earbuds for you two to share and listen to music. As he turned on the playlist consisting of the songs you and him loved listening to together, you looked at him, feeling a wave of admiration wash over you. You spent the 15 minute long car ride holding hands and resting your head on his shoulder, until you finally got to the bowling alley. You walked in, taking in the familiar feeling of a bowling alley; the sound of hard balls slamming on the wood floor, people talking, and pins crashing. Your dad walked up to the front desk to pay and get shoes for everyone when joe had pulled you aside.

    “y/n,” he started “i brought some change if you want to go play some games,” he said, pointing to the run-down air hockey table, claw machines, race car driving games, and ski ball stands on the other side of the room. You smiled and agreed to go, telling your mom not to wait up for you two.

    When you got to the arcade area, joe walked over to the air hockey table, picking up the puck.

“Ready for me to beat your butt at some air hockey?” he asked with a cocky grin

“You wish. Game on,” you answered, getting ready at the opposite side of the table. Joe put the quarters into the machine and started the game. As you expected, you won the game with the final score of 7-1. You laughed at him, knowing he had just completely embarrassed himself after being so cocky just minutes before. You and joe continued playing games for about thirty more minutes, until he stopped you and held your hand in his.

   “You know, I’m really glad we came here tonight,” he started “I just wanted to let you know that I really love you, and I appreciate you always making me happy,” he stated, cheeks blushing slightly. You felt a smile tugging at the corners of your mouth and face getting warm. “I got you something,” joe said, reaching into his back pocket. “Just to show you how much I love you and so you know that I’ll always be here for you, no matter what,” he said, opening the tiny velvet box.    

    “It’s a promise ring,” he said quietly, looking up at you

    “Oh joe,” you started, tears welling up in your eyes “it’s beautiful,” you added, making him lightly sigh in relief

    “You like it?” he asked hopefully

    “I love it. I love you,” you responded, looking at him with a huge smile

    Joe took the ring out of the box and slid it onto your ring finger. The ring fit perfectly and it looked even better on your hand than in the box. You grabbed the side of joe’s face and kissed him, tears of joy streaming down your face. You felt so in love with him in this moment and you walked over to the bowling lanes to show off the ring to your parents and siblings. “Oh and by the way, everyone else already knows about this. I asked your parents if it would be ok to give it to you tonight and they suggested bringing you over to the arcade so we could be alone,” joe laughed, coming up next to you and resting his hand against your waist, pulling you close to him. You looked at him, laughing as you wrapped your arm around him.
