to an outsider like her  ,  xehanort’s words seem  callous  &  harsh  ,  &  perhaps that’s because they are  ,  because that’s who he is.  hands are clasped behind his back as he observes the young girl  ,  trapped in her cage.  no matter the size  ,  a cage is a cage  ,  &  hers is truly elaborate.  this is just one room within her cage  ,  a prison cell.  her heart is strong  ,  no matter how she denies it.  she could be one that he needs  ,  if only-

       it’s  just  like  a  girl!      -----     faith  can  hear  each  of  their  voices  clear  as  day  in  her  head.     the  bandage  on  faith’s  head  flexes  &  she  winces,   but  her  face  keeps  wrinkling  until  she’s  crying  &  it’s  just  like  a  girl  to  cry,   jacob  would  say.     you  can’t  be  weak!    she  almost  feels  helpless  right  now,   even  though  she’s  the  one  that  enlisted  the  deputy’s  help  to  help  stop  joseph.     a  battle  did  ensue;     why  is  violence  always  the  answer?     faith  brings  a  shaky  hand  up  to  head,   curls  into  herself  just  a  little  bit  more.    it’s  the  most  vulnerable  she’s  been  since  joseph  found  her.     jacob’s  dead,   the  deputy’s  doing  something  with  joseph  &  she’s  here,   just  sitting  on  the  floor  of  the  bedroom  in  the  small  cabin.    nothing  feels  right.     FREEDOM  IS  HEAVY.     can’t  she  do  anything  by  herself?     tell  her  she  doesn’t  need  to  elsa.

              a snide smirk lifts in the cool , brisk air  .  blue eyes already basking in the sight of the dark sky above him .  his heart is continuously heavy these days but finding solace in the STARS makes him feel just a little bit closer to home  .  to ASGARD  .  ❝  there’s no need for questions  .  let the stars guide you because they shall never fail you .  ❞  ever since he was a boy , the god of thunder has had a fascination with the stars  .  in a way they raised him just as much as his mother  ,  more than his father  .  they are guide and comfort in every way  .  ❝  i find them therapeutic  .  you looked as if you could use a pick me up  .  was i not correct in my assumption  ??  ❞

it’s as honest of an answer as she’ll get  ,  it’s as honest as he can be.  the line between his emotions has become so blurred that he doesn’t know what he felt  &  what he didn’t.  something within what should be his heart aches  &  twists at her question  ,  &  when he looks at her to answer  ,  something in his eyes is kinder  ,  sadder  ,  more  human  .

but he will not look for forgiveness where he knows there is none.

get ready for some fucked up thoughts  !

xehanort views elsa as a bird in a cage.  whether the cage is his own creation or the castle, he doesn’t think she’ll ever truly be free, from herself or from fear.

the first time she refers to him as father, xehanort has to pause.  mind you, he’s found her in the midst of his own downward spiral, and it forces a moment of clarity.  it’s the first time someone has had a good opinion of him in so long, it gives him whiplash.  that, unfortunately, probably won’t last long.

the older she gets, the more xehanort turns her against her parents.  he uses her anger towards agnarr to lure her into using the powers of darkness, until she begins to use them willingly.

if that formerly mentioned moment of clarity had been enough, xehanort likely.....might’ve grown to actually care about elsa.  if it could’ve brought the real xehanort back, the one he left at scala ad caelum, he may have been decently fit to care for her, he could’ve helped her control her powers, minus the disgusting emotional manipulation

in reality, though, he’s an absolute monster, who’s good at putting up a farce to manipulate a helpless, vulnerable child.  it gets worse the older he grows, as he gets colder.  he doesn’t ever physically hurt her, he views it as cowardice and beneath him to hurt a child.

𝐀𝐍𝐎𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐑 𝐒𝐋𝐄𝐄𝐏𝐋𝐄𝐒𝐒 𝐍𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓, 𝐒𝐏𝐄𝐍𝐓 𝐓𝐎𝐒𝐒𝐈𝐍𝐆 and turning, worries constantly running through her mind, each worse than the last. Fingers curling into the fabric of her pillow for what felt like the sixth time, frustration had her forcefully sitting up, tossing the thing from the bed. Elsa let out a sigh, tiredness quickly eclipsing her anger, and she climbed down from the bed, padding over to the offending pillow. 

As she straightened up with it, the hairs on the back of her neck suddenly stood up, and she froze in place. Moonlight was spilling in from the large window, and when she glanced to her left, she could see a shadow that was not her own on the floor.
