"What would you have done if I wasn’t there? You know bad things could happen to you, right? Worst things! He could have easily taken you away just because you weren’t paying attention!”

Luhan crossed his arms, gaze averted and the corners of his lips tugged down into a frown. He wanted to yell at the other male— he wanted to reason that he wasn’t a child anymore (despite how childish he was acting right at that very moment) and that the way the other was lecturing him was annoying him.

Although he was grateful Howon was just there right on time before the older man could lead Luhan into his car, he still felt a bit infuriated at how the other was acting towards him. How was the latter supposed to know the man had been hiding some rag dipped into some suspicious liquid behind his back?

Okay, so Luhan could admittedly say he wouldn’t have been able to handle it alone, but he wanted to be at least spared from the lecture. He wasn’t glad about his parents leaving him for nothing, and he felt like a child all over again with the way the older male was reprimanding him.

"Look, I’m just worried for you, okay?" The other male’s voice snapped the younger out of his thoughts and he immediately looked up at the other once again. He pursed his lips, staring up at the other male with furrowed eyebrows.

"If I wasn’t there, you know what would have happened to you! You would have—"

"Three more minutes," Luhan mumbled under his breath, voice low but loud enough for the other to hear.

Bright, vibrant lights littered the dark sky, the loud sounds accompanying the colorful explosions giving the usually quiet night a jubilant atmosphere. The two males were sitting beside each other— hanging out at the rooftop of an apartment building with their legs hanging off the edge, chilled cans of soda in their hands. Everything was calming despite the noise and the silence was comfortable; both of them could easily admit that they appreciated each other’s company.

"Mhm," the older male mumbled in response. The pink-haired male smiled softly before leaning against his companion, bringing his can of soda up to take a quick sip from it. The short amount of time easily passed by  with them admiring the fireworks in cozy tranquility— a sharp contrast to how they usually are with each other, usually bickering in a playful manner without running out of any topics.

Upon hearing the muffled, yet evidently excited yells from people below, Luhan sat up straight before glancing at his phone to check the time.

"Eight! Seven! Six!"

"Five, four, three, two, one~" Finger deftly reaching out to Howon’s collar, Luhan tugged him closer before leaning in and pressing his lips against the other’s, eyes slowly shutting.
