Are you ready for Inktober?
I just did Jake Parker’s short course “How to ink” which I can recommend to beginners, not so much to (semi-)professionals. What you see are my different approaches to work on the underlying sketch he provided.
He covers all the basics about the right tools, line width and weight, different styles and some textures. Nothing too fancy or surprising in there, for me it was a nice exercise to get back in. If you’re interested in the course, look here or at the current special offer including some art supplies for inking.
The tips I liked most were: 1) considering not only light but also weight of an object to chose the thickness of its lines (drawing heavier objects with thicker lines in the lower part) 2) making copies of a previous sketch to work on it and to try things. I worked faster than I thought I would. (of course not important if you work digitally in layers) 3) separating different parts of an object with thicker lines to indicate a distance
I’ll see if I can find some more crosshatching tutorials for me and you soon.
🔸Seriously...I think this is my BEST VIDEO yet! That's why it's late. 😅😂🤣

How I work with ink pens -usually after I'm done with my ink and add highlights I go all over my line work to give it some extra dark lines or ink back anything that highlights may faded-filmed this while working on my little fairy commission #inkpen #inkpenart #inktober #inkartist #inkwork #howtoink #fairy #artcommission #katerinaart
So I sort of want to start to do tutorial videos and speed paintings. D: I think the hardest thing is getting comfortable with filming myself doing anything. It is cool watching how my drawing come together. :O When I’m drawing or inching, I’n normally thinking a lot so I don’t really notice how things look as they take form. This the first and right now the only video I have up.
