What really matters - and heading out to the Blue Mountains!
So these last few days have been immensely beneficial in rediscovering myself, even if I didn't get a boatload of work done and even if I'm really nervous and anxious for this coming week (I'll get into that later,) but anyway, a day-by-day recap, I promise I'll be quick!
On wednesday I just relaxed and stayed home by myself. I really felt an inner peace being able to be by myself for once and remember who I am, what makes makes me click. I was able to try some new baking/cooking things, blast music, finish projects, finish watching 'cloud atlas' (which is pretty good and makes you think, i recommend it!) and reconnect with what I find valuable.
Thursday was about as poor as expected with that geology lecture. I still feel overwhelmed and incompatible because of all the previous knowledge I lack. I'm trying to rganize all the things that I need to look at, but I can't do much about it because I don't know how to compare everything. Hopefully next week as it progresses will enlighten me on how to tackle this. Also turns out that my final exam may be a bit less scary than I thought; it may be a take-home and will probably be in the first week, so I can plan heaps of trips!
Friday was really nice for my mental state too, I got to go to speed conversation and meet a few people and connect with some girls from the Philipines. Afterwards I worked on papers for a little bit, and then played piano for 2 hours and felt truly alive. Piano is officially a passion for me again, I find love in it. That night I had Cara (the other girl from my uni that came down to Newcastle) over for our Saturday adventure!
Yesterday I went to the blue mountains with a few friends! We woke up to catch the 4:39 train and didn't get back until 10pm! It felt like home, wandering trails and being in the woods (though it was like a rain forest,) with gorgeous overlooks and everything! I think I walked 20km and 1000 stairs, but it was totally worth it! I feel so in shape just walking so far and embracing nature. I wish I got more time to sit around and embrace nature, but it was just such a great experience!
In addition, I got to reconnect and get to meet a few people! I got to solidify a friendship with Cara and a friend from Canada named steve, and got to know a guy named will from australia (who wants to adventure, and has a car!) and a guy named George (jorge) from mexico. I have a whole itinerary of stuff to do in NSW with trips if I find someone with a car willing to adventure, and I really like going with these people because they love just wandering!
The next few weeks are terrifying but exciting. I have a 9-5 class all week this week preparing for my bushwalk with camping and mapping structural features the week afterwards. If that goes well I will just have 4 weeks to go and then I'll be done with the semester! It's so surreal that I'm over halfway done, but I finally feel like I'm growing, like I'm being moreof a real person, and I am so excited to go home and just show how I've changed. Cara and I had a really nice conversation on the train ride home about how we have changed and how we want to be different when we get back. I can definitely say I'm changed. Thanks Australia.
