Drum roll please.....We have a name! From here on out, our rescue boy formerly known as "Russ" is going to be a.....HOWIE!!! Don't worry, he didn't know "Russ" was his name, so the transition will be easy and part of his training. He's such a curious, smart, sweet boy (big props to the family that rescued and took care of him!!!). One of our Sr. Trainers, Erin Werner, suggested the name Howard, and it reminded us of one of our favs who helped us into a few doors that had been closed quite a few years ago. The opportunities the human Howie provided us as a program, helped us to blossom into one of the largest programs in the Midwest, which allows us to get service dogs to more of the people who need them. We've been lucky enough to keep in touch with that Howie over the years. He's smart, funny, curious, and gentle, too. This just fit! Wear the name well, Howie dog.
