Oh ho ho! This one is inspired by a conversation I was having with @a-kind-of-merry-war. I was telling her about an outfit idea I had in mind for Jaskier that made me think of a joust. I wanted to draw him with a staff or a lance all done up with ribbons and the word ‘lance’ just stuck. The fic formed from there.

Geralt happens upon a jousting tournament between the peers of Lyria, Rivia, and Aedirn. While exploring the joust and surrounding fair, he notices a knight in beautiful golden armour doing *gasp* squire’s work, cleaning out his own horse’s hooves in the mud. He finds himself admiring this *:･ﾟ✧*:･ﾟ✧mysterious knight✧ *:･ﾟ✧*:･ﾟ for both his chivalry and his skill in competition.

That is, until Geralt thinks that the knight has feelings for his bard, wearing armour embellished with buttercups, the crowd cheering him on with the chorus of ‘Toss a Coin,’ boasting the patronage of Jaskier’s own family as he flies their flag and jousts on behalf of Lettenhove.

My sister-in-law : *thinks education = blackmail*
