Squall and Irvine’s different idea of “enemy” and what that means both stem from the style of the Garden they attended. Squall simply sees enemies as people with different ideals and circumstances, while Irvine feels thinking of them as evil helps him. Balamb Garden produces SeeD mercenaries who fight for who will pay them in a conflict, meaning they have no real emotional connection to their enemies. However, Galbadia Garden mainly produces soldiers for Galbadia. Galbadia is highly militaristic and full of propaganda, meaning their soldiers are likely taught to think poorly of the enemy. Thus Irvine has been taught to demonize his enemies and Squall has been taught emotional detachment from them because of the type of soldier they’ve been trained as. - Houyo
houyo replied to your photoset “The game is constantly throwing out bait for you to not like Seifer...”
Seifer is, like all of them, a child soldier who copes and lashes out in at times unhealthy ways to deal with his situation.
Yeah definitely. I thought about mentioning the child soldier aspect in my original post but decided to not to. I do think it’s an extremely important part of the plot that a lot of people forget about when talking about VIII. It’s why in 2017 you still get ‘Squall is whiny’ type comments because they aren’t thinking of how being raised to be a solider affects you when you’re still growing mentally.
The game could have explored this some more but it is what it is.
"A beast who can't see beyond his own fist." is so badass that I want to reblog it so it can be on my blog but it's your title so I can't. Can you make a post in big bold letters so I can reblog it? Thanks for reading if nothing else.
this ones for the boys who want to pop open a cold one

What the fuck is a tamogachi?
The Tamagotchi (たまごっち) [tamaɡotꜜtɕi] is a handheld digital pet, created in Japan by Akihiro Yokoi (ja) of WiZ and Aki Maita[citation needed] of Bandai. It was released by Bandai on November 23, 1996 in Japan and May 1997 in the rest of the world, quickly becoming one of the biggest toy fads of the 1990s and early 2000s. As of 2010, over 76 million Tamagotchis have been sold world-wide.[1] Most Tamagotchi are housed in a small egg-shaped computer with an interface usually consisting of three buttons, although the number of buttons may vary.
