Hamas agrees to Egyptian ceasefire proposal, Israel counters
Hamas has accepted a new Egyptian-brokered proposal to release five hostages, including American-Israeli Edan Alexander, in exchange for a renewed ceasefire, a Hamas source.
In a televised address on Saturday, Hamas leader Khalil Al-Hayya stated that the group had engaged “positively” with the draft agreement from Egyptian mediators and agreed to its terms.
According to the Hamas source, the deal includes the release of five hostages and the reinstatement of phase 1 ceasefire conditions, which would allow humanitarian aid to enter. Additionally, Hamas expects discussions to continue regarding the second phase of the ceasefire.
