#Leatherface (2017)
A prequel of the Texas Chainsaw massacre series, Leatherface is a modern day take on the murderous franchise. Here, we see Leatherface, or in this adaptation, ‘bubba’ as a young, troubled teen growing up inside an institution for troubled children. Giving ‘Leatherface’ a sobbing back story seems a little odd, now we know how him and his family treat their guests. With a ‘twist’ you saw coming as you would hear the chainsaw roaring as a masked maniac ran from one side of a field towards you, it’s not a bad movie. It just could have been much better written. And like most 70s horror movies, these modern day adaptations seem to rear away from the original storyline ever so slightly, and we at HG bloody hate that. Leatherface is no different, unfortunately.
A good watch for viewings sake, and it does have some decent, gory scenes, which we all BLOODY love! (see what we did there?) And as much as the original is now a tad lacklustre, we still would rather sit and watch the 70s classic, or even the 2003 remake which I personally love (I know, take me to the gallows!).
Average viewing, but by no means the best. 5/10 stabbings #hg #thehorrorguys #horrorguys #leatherface
