When you want to take shower lying down, horizontal shower is a great idea. Though many experts thought that this has been quite a useless invention, but those who use it regularly, would vouch for its utility.

What are Pros?

The water outlets are designed in a style that when it falls on your body it massages the pressure points. This relaxes the muscles and eases the body ache. The shower has six heads or water bars and come along with a control panel through which users can control the temperature, flow and pressure of the water.

It’s Availability

Horizontal shower could not create much of ripple unfortunately due to its high price. $35,000 for a shower is not easy to spend for everyone. As a result, it is not widely available across the globe. However, there are resorts and luxurious hotels to have installed this luxurious bathing facility. It originated from Switzerland but there are few showrooms in the capitals of the leading nations as well.

The Ultimate Hotel Shower? 

At first glance this horizontal shower by Dornbracht seems confusing, perhaps even a little crazy. I had seen the ad in the latest Apartmento magazine, but still thought it was a bit weird.

            I am curious as to why we shower standing up and why there are cultural differences between shower designs.  I haven't been able to find any answers as to why we tend to shower standing up.  I guess it's just a practicality thing. Although, I did find that a German designer has come up with a Horizontal Shower, although I'm not sure how practical this is.

Showers are a fundamental fact of life for some civilized people. The first showers are thought to exist during the Chaldean empire. In most third world countries, people still use buckets and ladles for bathing instead of showers.  Some cultural differences I have come across on my travels have been in France and Italy. France tended to have hand-held shower attachments (very frustrating when you want to wash your hair) and also why would the French not put curtains on their showers? Is it because they don’t use them? Or because they learnt to take showers without flooding the entire bathroom, or because they like to make fun of guests? Every time I've taken a shower in France, I end up cleaning the floor.

And how about Italian showers with their safety cord. It’s typically a white string that extends all the way to the ground. I'm sure there are 100 more false alarms than real emergencies, rendering this contraption basically useless.
