hey im an afab person looking into hrt and i realized that both my dad and my brother have male pattern baldness. i would like to see if i also have the gene and if i am going to need to use rogaine or something once i start t, and i was thinking of using 23andMe to check. do you know if they include that kind of information for afab customers?
we’ve talked a LOT about baldness and you can find more about it via our search feature but the TLDR is: it’s not one gene, it’s a combination of many genes working together, and you, assumed two XX chromosomes don’t inherit it only from one parent but from both, so you have twice the genetics in play as from XY people. your chances are higher than someone with all hairy relatives, but i don’t know the % or anything. I don’t think i got anything like that when I had my DNA done, and I had it also run through a genetics lab (promethease) for genes for disease and drug issues (like poor processing of certain meds), etc. So chances are either: no they don’t do it, or it would be cost prohibitive for all but very wealthy people.

For the arm armor anon, you can get replacement bra straps from sewing stores like Hancock and Joann, or even Walmart. They come in a variety of colors (the greater selections will be found at fabric stores) and even come in clear plastic. They have hooks so you don't have to worry about accidentally tying knots in them, and they're adjustable!
