It wasn’t that Leonardo had any qualms about the gifted laptop- he just hadn’t had the opportunity to give it the time and attention required for setting up. It had sat on his desk, untouched, for a week already, awaiting the day he set aside two hours in his schedule to devote to it. He had been told it was a gift to the Foot from the Kraang, but in reality the sleek black computer looked like it came from the tech retailer down the road. The blue-eyed turtle swiveled languidly in his chair, watching the colors shift on the loading screen and ticking off the seconds until the desktop finally appeared.

He stopped fidgeting as a message appeared onscreen. Leonardo eyed it for a moment, not quite sure what to make of it. It didn’t appear to be part of the startup protocol, but there didn’t seem to be an option to cancel either. 

Well, if it turned out to be a virus, it wasn’t like he had had the chance to put anything important on the computer yet.

Coming online for the first time was instant. All sensors came online and he was left staring at the mutated terrapin. Of course the other didn’t stare back, he didn’t know that he was currently being watched, eyes intent on the screen. A quick scan showed him his heart rate was languid and steady. 

While the mutant in front of him was calm at the moment, verbal communication could wait. He didn’t want to scare the other into prematurely shutting down his systems as that could lead to unfortunate complications for his coding. At least not until he was integrated well enough into the systems around him. As the show of booting up continued, he opened another side prompt, allowing for written communication as the cursor blinked steadily.

You know I’m starting to think “Mikey” is code word for “bad things I do that I don’t want to admit”.
