i’m not at all here to hate on valko, but i will say… i’ve yet to be impressed by him. hopefully, that will change once he releases and i get to experience him in game for myself, but until then… i have to admit, i’m disappointed by his previews so far. if anything, i’m concerned about what this means for caleb mains (like myself) who haven’t even caught up to the other interests in terms of content. i might also be a bit grumpy that this guy was given the dog treatment before caleb—our certified puppy (sorry, i’m a leopard!caleb hater)… sincerely, someone who has been asking for a werewolf!caleb banner in every. single. survey.

personal feelings aside! i do not plan to incorporate valko into my lads series. he may appear later down the line as a side character/villager, but he will not be a part of the romantic cast of interests. you might be wondering why since many other authors are planning to incorporate him into their own work.

here’s a few reasons:

- i have already developed a plot line that has very little allowance for change. the addition of a new character would very much throw the delicate system i’ve created off balance. i would have to write an entirely new subplot for him and move around the other characters to make space for him.

- i only feel confident writing the other guys because i’ve spent nearly a year with them…reading up on lore and dissecting character traits. i don’t feel like i could write valko after knowing him for so little time. it wouldn’t be fair to misrepresent his character and if i’m going to write for him, i will do it when i feel i can do him justice.

- i don’t write what i’m not passionate about. like i said, this new love interest has not wowed me. though that may change after his release, i don’t care much for him right now and that’s that.

- caleb is the wolf in this series. that animal species was chosen specifically with him in mind and is a key component to his character as well as a driving factor behind the decisions he makes and behavior.
