she's still half asleep when she feels him shift behind her. his arm tightens around her bare waist, and she hums in contentment. he's warm--solid--present. he's been away for weeks, she doesn't ask too many questions about his job, knows better than to say too much when he reappears with new stitches. she has her suspicions, but he's present when he's with her and it's more than enough for her. her schedule is always packed, and she's always busy, but for him? she clears her schedule for a few days and indulges. "baby..." she blinks her eyes open, and shifts to look at him. "g'morning--" she shifts in, kisses him softly-- "hi."

"what are you doing here--?" their break up had been bad, loud enough that she was still making her neighbours apology muffins, still scathing from their fight. "we're done, remember-- irreconcilable differences. I'm a human being and you're a human sized ass." it's not her best line, but it'll do in a pinch.
