"    don't  get  too  excited.    i'm  only  back  for  a  few  days.  then  i  see  my  mother  and  then  back  to  london.    "    a  small  smile  flashed  harlans  way  as  she  nursed  her  drink.    both  hands  clasped  around  the  glass  as  if  it  would  run  away  if  she  wasn't  watching  it.      lily  wasn't  a  big  party  person.    in  fact  she  hated  crowds.    but  when  her  father  asked  her  to  be  his  plus  one  to  a  work  thing,  she  simply  couldn't  say  no.    no  really  she  couldn't  say  no,  he  would  never  show  up  to  these  types  of  events  without  someone  on  his  arm.    well,  his  award  winning  daughter  seemed  to  do  for  tonight,  at  least.  

it wasn’t the first time she’d messed around with someone tied to the crew but it was the first time she’d gone back for seconds. and thirds. now here they were, laid up in her bed in her shitty apartment, and she couldn’t sleep. her mind kept circling back to him. “you’re… almost too good to be true. what’s your story?” rolling over, she draped herself across him, chin settling against his chest as her voice dropped, softer now. quieter, like she was trying not to scare the moment off. “tell me something nobody else knows…”

He plays it off, not too close maybe ten feet away grabbing a bag of carrots before glancing down the produce. “Mona— right?”

“-- oh.” her eyes dropped quickly toward her lap. “sorry.” the word almost dissolving into a nervous little laugh while she pulled her hand back toward her chest. cleo’s composure cracked almost immediately. “i’m not blushing,” the denial came far too fast, far too flustered. her smile kept tugging helplessly at the corners of her mouth no matter how hard she tried suppressing it. “seriously, stop.” cleo swatted gently at them with the back of her hand, though there was no real force behind it. "okay, now i’m only blushing because you keep looking at me like -- that.”

        “pour  it  right  down  the  hatch.  that’s  it,  baby girl!”

"took you long enough, i was starting to think you didn't hear my song." there's only one hunter crazy enough to pursue her repeatedly. well, also the fact that he was the only one she'd let live after that first encounter. she's hidden pretty well this time, so well that she's made a game of it. letting her song, that she's fine tuned just for him, linger in certain places around the city like little breadcrumbs for him to follow like a good little pet finding its way home.

when she opened the door, lena rested against the frame and took in the sight of him. she was in a little black dress and ready to go out for the night, unsure as to how he was there in the first place. "wasn't your layover supposed to be in charlotte? you're in chicago," she grinned, already pleased with whatever excuse k.c. was about to give. "captain, did you change your flight to meet me here?"
