Buying or selling a home? Don’t assume every pest company can perform a real estate WDI inspection.
I recently came across a detail that I think is worth sharing with anyone involved in real estate.
Not every pest control company is licensed to conduct Wood Destroying Insect (WDI) Inspections specifically for real estate transactions.
If you're having a WDI inspection done as part of a transaction, it’s worth asking whether the inspector is properly licensed and whether the inspection is being completed on the appropriate NPMA-33 form.
The form includes things like:
• License number • Inspector’s name • Inspector’s signature etc...
It may seem like a minor detail, but making sure the right professional is performing the inspection can help avoid headaches later in the transaction.
Buyers and sellers: Have you ever checked the credentials of the person performing your WDI inspection?
Real estate professionals: Is this something you routinely verify?
