Mason Parker competes in a wrestling club, but as a home-schooler he won’t have a team for the season after turning high school age next year.
Melissa Parker said God called her and her husband to home-school their children to protect them from outside influences and keep consistency in their education. Christopher Parker’s job as an Air Force captain has moved the family among Alaska, Illinois, Germany and Langley Air Force Base in Virginia.
“Mason doesn’t wrestle as a hobby. It’s not just a sport he participates in. He is a wrestler,” Melissa Parker said Wednesday before the Senate Education and Health Committee. She spoke in support of a bill that would permit localities to allow home-school children to participate in Virginia High School League sports.
The legislation carried by Sen. Tom Garrett, R-Buckingham, is often referred to as the “Tebow Bill,” referencing the former college and professional football player who was home-schooled and played high school football at a Florida public school. The legislation Garrett calls “The Equal Access Bill” passed committee 8 to 7 along party lines.

The one singular thing that sucks about being homeschooled is I have no motivation or willpower.
ARE YOU HOME SCHOOLED?
If so, would you please tell me for how long, and if the change is recent and how you like it? For any reason do you wish that you were in public, or "regular school"? Because i'm 99% sure that i'm about to make the change in order to graduate faster. I am trying my hardest to get through the high school process, mostly because it disgusts me but also because id like to get on with my life.
I am 15 years old (16 this summer) and i am in the 10th grade. I plan on getting a job asap and also getting my license, but that us a 9 month process that i haven't even started.
So anyways, if you have any info on it that might be useful please let me know!

When you need a baby flamingo
Often, someone around here needs something. Needs something so badly that our day is otherwise intolerable. Today that something was a baby flamingo. We had a mommy flamingo, a lovely nest, and a shiny seashell egg. The egg was bouncing and shaking, but there was no baby to hatch out of it. I was presented with two options. One: make a baby flamingo. Two: make Mia a flamingo costume, so that she could be the baby. But either had to happen quickly! The egg was really getting restless and the mommy was looking worried. So we decided to make a woolie. A woolie is the new name we have for any crude wool creature made in ten minutes or less. Luckily, I had some pink wool (that we dyed this winter) and needles close at hand. I hesitate to call this needle felting, because that actual amount of felting occurring is almost negligible. A few pokes here and a stab there, and POW you have something that roughly resembles a pink bird. Suddenly imagination steps in, and delight takes over. My baby girl looks at me with magic eyes, grabs her woolie, and screams "the baby is hatching!" Flamingo baby was cuddled and sung to and fed all day. Thats a whole lot of soul for a little ball of fluff.
