alright so his full name is elijah but he literally hates that more than anything, so it’s just eli

he’s the eldest son of the holidays, so logically that would make him the one to inherent the holiday schtick but here’s the thing

he doesn’t want to what so ever 

eli was never really great in school and that was mainly due to the fact that he has dyslexia and it wasn’t diagnosed until he was 15 but by that point, he had already given up on school 

he graduated though and he didn’t have the worst grades, he kept them up enough to stay in sports 

he was on the varsity football, hockey, and soccer teams

and he had been into boxing and going to lessons from the ages of 12-18

and mixed martial arts from 15-18

he basically grew up in the outdoors and there’s very little that he can’t do in that regard 

he’s also very handy 

so basically, after he graduated he kinda just left 

he started traveling the world, using his skills like sailing, horse back riding, and other things to travel

he rarely ever flies anywhere 

he comes back to holiday when the funds are low and he’s having a hard time keeping it even

his usual first stop s his aunt’s, anna, couch and then he figures it out from there 

he works odd jobs, like it’s ridiculous 

you’ll see him at the lake teaching sailing and it’s like “oh okay” and then he’s leading trail rides, and then you’ll see him lifeguarding at the beach, then he’ll be flipping burgers, and then like doing maintenance work for the hotel and it’s okay okay what the fuck dude 

if there is need for handy stuff or outdoors stuff, eli will definitely be down to help 

he loves his family more than anything???

roseanne hopenbauker, more commonly known as rose by her friends and family has always been a woman of high expectations. 

as the eldest child of the illustrious hopenbauker clan she put a lot on her shoulders even as a young girl 

there was one thing she excelled for in life and that was complete and utter perfection 

she excelled in school, dated a football player, won homecoming queen. she was the darling of holiday 

but she began to realize the men in her life always expected her to take a step back. that her achievements weren’t her own but to support a traditionally masculine world. 

fed up with always being second best she left for college at columbia where she double majored in business and economics 

determined to prove herself she kept going and got her masters in financial mathematics 

rose thought she had finally figured herself out, working on wall street, living in a cushy apartment on the upper east side 

but holiday had one thing new york didn’t family. despite the appeal of living on her own in nyc she realized she had invested so much in work she was completely alone 

so rose quit her job, packed her bags and moved back to holiday 

unsure of what to do with herself she put her business savvy to use and opened up holiday brewing 

she’s content with her little life and her bar, but still retains the same perfectionist tendencies and runs her life on a tight ship 

Lucas is from Chicago, only son to the McKay. Coming from the high society, Lucas' parents marriage was a facade that they did not hide from their son.

His father owns a very successful business although the McKay come from a lineage of lawyers and judges in London, UK, his father being the first family member to settle in the USA. His mother is from New York City, coming from a wealthy and known family too. Lucas decided to study to be a very good lawyer, however, like the rest of the McKay’s.

He moved to Holiday six months ago to defend a family's friend that got into real trouble. He's been staying at the Shutter's Hotel for now as his stay in Holiday is still temporary.

Growing up was extremely easy for Lucas considering his family's wealth, he is not sorry for all the resources he has and for his advantages or for the sometimes dirty ways that rich people have to get what they want.

Unsupervised throughout his teen years, Lucas has developped a drinking and sometimes drug problem which he refuses to admit.

Lucas will walk over whoever he has to to get where he wants/needs to get. He is cynical, spoiled and he is very sure of himself in every way.

Marshall Van Der Byl was one of those children who knew what he wanted to be the moment the question was presented to him. He adored planes, more than anything in the world and knew his future was in the sky. 

His father was a military man and brought home with him a sense of national pride that he instilled in his son. Though his words always came with a warning: Marshall was too young to understand what service meant, and would not be permitted to serve until he had ( at the very least ) completed university.

So the idea floated from Marshall’s head for a number of years. The passion for aviation was still there, but he allowed himself to explore other options. He wasn’t dead set until he was forced to watch Wings (1927) in his history class. It seemed he was the only kid in class that actually picked up on the movie’s meaning, That it was a love story between two pilots -- even going so far as to show the first gay kiss ever in american cinema. ( receipts -- this shit is gay ).

but Marshall’s dad was still against it. He didn’t think his son would have the stomach to serve when the going got tough. He managed to get into his head.

The thing was, Marshall was just as passionate about the mechanics of the planes as he was about flying them. When it came time for university, he enrolled himself in two programs at two schools. One for piloting, and the other for aviation systems management at a local college. To fall back on, as he explained to his family. It was hell for four years, doing night classes and getting his courses cut down to the minimum so he could handle his work load. He managed to pass both, somehow. 

When he was ready, after a year off to rest, he joined the military. Aged 23. He was a member of the air force, enlisting for a six year run.

The badge almost went to his head. He got cocky and brash, pressed on by his fellows, who had much the same attitude. In time he thought he was beginning to loose his sense of self. not to mention how...hard it was too see hardships of war. He couldn’t help but think that what he had seen wasn’t even been the worst of it. That every day he might be put into a situation -- a dog fight, a rescue mission -- that might really fuck him up. He wanted to preserve his sense of self.

When his six years were up, Marshall applied to be an AST instead. A year later, he was running out to the planes to do maintenance as the pilots climbed out of their seats. 

that’s all i have for backstory rn. there’s def something else there but.....i don’t know what yet. maybe he gets conned. maybe he has a scandal idk

Finley grew up in LA to two very wealthy parents. The son of a surgeon and the head master of a private school he had the finest education money could buy and at 11 he began boarding school. 

Luckily for Finley his school came with a job for his dad so unlike many of the other kids at school he was lucky enough to be able to spend a lot of time with his mom and dad and his younger brother and sister. 

Unfortunately he did nothing to turn him into a better person growing up. Not only was the male extremely smart he was also far to confident for his own good and captain of the school football team. 

With his status came and ego that he still hasn’t learnt to control and his families money gave him a sense of power over the other kids. 

At 14 he was diagnosed with ADHD which explained a fraction of his behavior but even that couldn’t explain how easily he found being the center of attention in a room full of people. 

After high school Finley was accepted into Princeton where he is QB1 of the football team and majoring in Computer Programming and Coding. 

He’s arrogant, over confident and down right entitled. He’s got more money than sense but he’s also a picture of perfection around his parents so they fail to see any issues with his behavior - and if he does get caught well it’s just his condition. 

Finley is surprisingly lovely to those he considers worth his time and if he cares about someone there is no length he wouldn’t go to for their happiness - especially when it comes to his siblings. 

Finley first came to Holiday Maine when his parents decided that this was where they were going to take their annual ski trip for the Christmas Holidays and he’s been back since college broke out for the summer to be with Addy. The amazing woman he has some how convinced that he is worth dating. 

He has no intention of working whilst he is here, he doesn’t need to and instead he’s going to have himself a whole load of holiday fun. 

There’s a good chance he will end up getting himself in trouble because he needs constant stimulation. 

hello everyone! i am riina and i decided to join the group with my dear orla! she’s honestly kind of a combination of a bunch of my old characters & i am so excited to introduce her to all of you! let’s go!

so! orla’s story begins in belfast, northern ireland, where she was born into a loud, larger than life family. she’s the second-born child and one of six siblings. 

she studied software and electronic systems engineering at queen’s university belfast, after which she left her hometown for london. she hasn’t lived in belfast for thirteen years but still considers the city her home. 

received her master’s degree in systems engineering management from university college london! she worked in the city for a few years before a tempting job opportunity - and a pretty massive increase in salary - in palo alto, california made her relocate to the states. 

as it turned out, orla was definitely not made for silicon valley or its culture. in fact, she absolutely detested what her life had become and decided to leave her so-called dream job after three years of misery. the money had been great, yes, but she knew she wouldn’t be able to handle the punishing pace and demands of her job. 

orla arrived to holiday around two years ago without much of a plan. in fact, she figured she wouldn’t stay for very long at all. however, she ended up falling in love with the tiny town and its people and decided to open up her own computer repair shop. 

while somewhat withdrawn and introverted, orla is a very kind, warm person who truly enjoys helping others. she’s the sort of person who will tell her customers to call her whenever they’re having problems, no matter what time of day it is. 

she tends to be fairly straightforward and blunt but rarely means to cause upset. she just doesn’t really understand how others might read her words or tone of voice. 

orla is on the autism spectrum and will fight anyone who tells her she doesn’t look autistic. that’s just gross. 

has a wide, kind of funny taste in music. she’s a big fan of punk and industrial music but would refuse to go on without noughties pop. while she’s definitely a big fan of spotify and other similar services, she also tends to buy way too many CDs. 

she’s bisexual & kind of clueless when it comes to approaching people she fancies.

A.J. HOLIDAY - THE SOFT BUTCH

aj is the second oldest child of the holiday family. she was never good at school and was always a bit insecure about that. what she was good at, was fixing things. she was just handy and so, she decided to stop trying to chance unattainable academic dreams and got herself carpentry and electrician training. then, she loaned some money from her parents - read: a big amount - and bought herself a house, which she flipped with one other person. she continued to do that until three years ago and is now working with a crew of three people as a contractor. it’s a lot more stable and secure, which is necessary as she is now married and adopted two children last year, twin boys named esau and abel. she looks very masculine and one may not expect it, but she is very insecure: her height, her occupation, her likability... she is painfully shy when meeting new people and it can be hard to get through to her, but when you’re in her heart - you can be sure she’ll do all she can for you.

the name mary chace is spoken in hushed tones around holiday. she has always been a troublemaker, ever since she was in middle school. she was picked on and humiliated on a daily basis and on top of that, she couldn’t figure herself out, who she was, which led to her assuming an attitude of “get them before they get me”. what started out as petty crime went to juvenile detention centers and that graduated into prison. she has a whole list of offenses on her criminal record and has been in and out of prison countless times. she has just gotten out after a three-year sentence for theft of property worth less than $10,000 but more than $1,000 and is now a felon. she has come out of prison tired and she finally wants to make something of her life. she is fully clean now, she managed to get a job at joe’s diner and hopes that here in holiday, as painful and as embarrassing as it is to come back after having been in prison, she can finally be a normal person... but it won’t be easy. she has a tendency to go for the bottle when she is feeling low, she isn’t good at controlling her temper and keeping a job has never been her strong suit... the question is, whether or not she’ll be able to stay somewhat on track surrounded by people who know about her past or if she’ll fall off the wagon again.

clarance nolan has lived here since he was fifteen (could change) when his father got a job opportunity here. he met clara dalton and fell in love - immediately. she was the most amazing girl he had ever met and it wasn’t a surprise when they went off to law school together and got married. over the years, they started a law office and had three children -  jonathan (10), benjamin (6), and georgia (4). he was happy with his wife and family, really... but there was always this nagging feeling that he had settled down too quickly, that he was missing out on something. it led him into something he thought he’d never cave to: infidelity. looking back, he knows it’s his curiosity about his sexuality that drove him, as well as a bit of boredom that he felt had crept into their marriage. what he also realizes now is that it wasn’t worth it. yes, he sated curiosities and fantasies but he lost his family. in the divorce, he feels like he also lost his children. one weekend a month and short visits in between are not why he wanted to be a parent and while he understands that clara wanted to divorce him, he doesn’t understand why she had to play it so hard and take his children away from him for such a big chunk of the time. he cheated on her and they divorced, he didn’t divorce his children. he feels like he is barely a parent, but he tries to keep his frustrations in because he doesn’t want his children to be the victim of the tension but it’s there, brewing under the surface.
