"This is one of the things that can kill you guys suddenly."
“And I thought my sister took a lot of selfies.” -Jesper, 25
Although Copenhagen is not a very racially diverse city compared to some other European cities we have seen, the metro is a melting pot of all people and one is more likely to observe different races on the metro than other places in the city. This photo also shows the socializing of these two girls taking a selfie together, a happy moment between two friends.
“Only three more stops until luft-have-in” - Katherine, 45
This photo shows that the metro is commonly used to get to the airport and people often have suitcases on the metro. Â As DIS students, it has been difficult to grasp Danish language and pronunciation. Â This post encompasses that idea and how even though we struggled at the beginning of the semester, we now know a few key words and phrases and feel more Danish than the tourists.Â

“I didn’t get the job but still gonna go out with my buddies tonight to celebrate getting the interview” - Aleksander, 26
This post shows that there are people that take the metro to work.  It also highlights the idea of the welfare system and that people have a safety net put in place for them so they don’t have to worry that much if they didn’t get a job, get sick etc.  The drinking culture is also shown in this post.
“Its past midnight so I AM OFFICIALLY 21 BITCHEZ!” Rebecca, 21
This post shows how DIS students use the metro alongside Danes, but still are not integrated into Danish culture. Â Many DIS students turn 21 while abroad, but it is not a very important birthday in Denmark. Â It is also usually easy to spot a DIS student late at night on the metro.
"My dad told me that these button don’t actually control the metro,  but did you see it just turn right?!” - Oliver, 8.Â
This post is a commentary on the incredibly family-friendly nature of Copenhagen as a city. Public spaces, like the metro, are designed with families in mind. The city added these fake buttons to the front of every metro in order to create a more family-friendly environment in this public space. The metros are regularly full of children of all ages and family members alike, which is much more common to see here than in the United States.Â
