     she hadn’t spent the night at patrick’s last night- FOR ONCE- and merely promised to see him at school the next day. well, it was the next day and jessica didn’t show up at school. there was no sign of her being there and there was no call from her. it was like she had disappeared without a trace...but, of course, that wasn’t what happened. jess had a run in with a gang in the next town over that decided to take things a little too far and beat her into the ground. they’d caught her off guard and were relentless in their hits, leaving her no time to regroup and fight back. it seemed like hours until they’d finally let up and she was able to rise from the ground and tromp back to derry.

     the walk was slow due to the pain in her body and the moment she arrived, she went straight to his house. school would be getting out soon and even though she didn’t want him to see her like this, where else was she supposed to go? carefully she moves through the empty house towards his bedroom, taking a seat against the headboard on his bed. scrapes and bruises line her arm and legs, even going up her neck. checks both have cuts and blood seems to be smeared all over her body. but jessica had no strength to move and clean herself up. fuck, it all just HURT. minutes pass, maybe an hour, and the bedroom door opens. weakly she looks up to find patrick there and all she can do is look down in an attempt to hide the tears threatening to fall.
