The elevator dinged, and Dad steered Henry inside. âHow long until Chiyoh gets here?â Henry asked.
Dad shrugged and pushed the button for the top floor. âCanât say for sure. We have the reservation for three days, but we can always extend it. She has even further to go than we did, and itâs just her out there. And we have no idea if sheâs going to encounterâŚâ
âObstacles,â Dad corrected, brows furrowing. He sighed and leaned against the mirrored wall behind them. âHis people, maybe, but not him. Itâll be a while before Jackâs out of the hospital.â
Henry thought about the fact that both of his hands are going to be in casts, how his usage of them will never be the same, and couldnât help but smile a little. While he shouldnât be glad for it, knowing that the agent would never forget Henry, would have no choice but to remember him every day of his life, filled Henry with a dark sense of satisfaction.
