everything looks better when the sun goes down
So I suppose I should introduce myself..in derby world I go by Sgt.Slaughter...aka sarge In the "other" world I go by Emily(MLE) I started Playing roller derby in 2005 in Daytona Beach Florida. I played for The Florida Roller Girls and for the Sintral Florida Derby Demons. In 2010 I moved to Knoxville Tn and transferred to the Hard Knox Roller Girls.
This year is full of First for me in roller derby. This is my first WFTDA league (!!) first year playing on a WFTDA league. and my # 1 personal quest,which inspired me to do this Tumblr is Jamming! i've only jammed one game and that was in the 2011 HKRG vs Tally fl. It was a mer thought I had been playing with. and on that night I think had made my mind up that I really wanted to start jamming..it was soooo much fun!
See, I've been a "power blocker" ever since I started derby..maybe jammed once or twice to give our girls a break but..never really got into it...not like I did in the tally game. I also was a smoker for ten years..I QUIT smoking (!!) to better myself as an "athlete" and then some ..because of derby I've started making better life choices in general.
Anyways Im "sarge" and this Tumblr is to document my Derby life and to help myself better myself and to keep up with the goals I have set for myself. I will continue to post anything derby related in my life that I am involved with and some other derby related post. I am asking for your support and encouragement and perhaps join me in this journey !!
