☼ - The Speaker sits in the study of his private quarters, going over Vanguard reports. He draws a hand down over his face, sighing as he reads over yet another mission report. Sleep is not something that comes easy to him, and with his daughter still out and about, he can’t go to sleep anyway, despite the late hour.
She’s wandered for long enough. Perhaps he should go up and get her.
Something feels wrong though. A creeping feeling of Darkness and danger. Vadim sits up straighter, suddenly alert and looking around. Confusion runs through him, then worry. If he can sense something Dark this close...
A cry for help through the Light. Zufash. His daughter. She’s screaming in pain and he can feel the burn of Darkness, far too close to her. Trying to consume her. Immediately he leaps to his feet, sprinting out of the room and towards the entrance to his quarters that leads up into Tower North.
His Ghost follows him, shaking as she tries to contact Zufash’s Ghost. There’s no response except panic, and that frightens both Guardian and Ghost even more. There’s no time to put on any armor - Vadim simply runs up the stairs into the Observatory, and out into Tower North.
He sees his daughter, collapsed on the ground, with something Dark hovering over her. A creature of some kind. He’ll worry about how it got into the Tower later. For now he draws upon the Light, calling it to him, and it responds in kind, eager and almost angry at this attack on the person that means the most to him.
The Speaker is wreathed in solar Light, his expression morphed into a scowl and his eyes full of fury. There’d been no time to put on any armor, nor the concealing mask. The only thing he has is his Light. And it is angry.
“Get away from her!” He leaps into the air, holding out his hand, and a sword of fire appears, wings of flame sprouting from his back. He throws slashes of solar Light at the creature, careful not to hit Zufash, though their Light is so attuned it wouldn’t do more than tickle her anyway. Zufash takes the opportunity to scramble back, and Vadim lands in between her and the creature, slamming the sword into the ground in a wreathe of fire.
