Fredrick Gibberd would be 111 years old today. This influential architect and urbanist designed The Beckers estate in North (or is it still East?) London.⠀⁠

Central Parade in Walthamstow is unique example of Festival style architecture — amazing playfulness, colours and details! Really nice building to come across. A plaque on it reminds it was built on a site where a V1 killed 22 people and injured many others.

Hidden gem (or a lump of coal) near Broadway Market is one of the lesser-known buildings of Amin Taha's Group Work. Very minimal — no drains, gutters or even window sills! The black colour is probably the best protection against ugly weathering of the slightly angled facade.

This doesn't get old.

High-tech architecture is getting into vulnerable position, when it still seems too young to list and protect, but it's also old enough to profitably redevelop. @C20Society is now attempting to list the Sainsbury’s complex in Camden, as plans for its redevelopment emerge. ⁣

I must admit that when seeing photos of this building for the first time, I wasn't too sure what to think. But then I went and had a look in person. It is a truly outstanding piece of architecture! Amin Taha sure knows how to break the mould (and arouse some planners).
