Do you remember when I used to post about how shit smoothie/açai bowls are? And now I eat them (or dense smoothies) like every day... such a hypocrite I am! But I think I found the problem; everyone else’s opinion on where to get a good smoothie bowl! 🤣.. no no, I won’t be the victim; it was my own fault for listening to them and not putting the time and research into understanding what makes a great smoothie bowl (or dense smoothie with a few trimmings). My keys to a life changing smoothie bowl are; (1) base must be frozen fruit, no ice or water; (2) must be very generous on the amount as it’s not overly filling on it’s own; (3) add-ons need to balance the sweetness or make up for the sometimes lack of sweetness in the fruit, but not an overload of sauces, syrups, chocolate or anything that turns it into ice cream; (4) it must feel fresh on the palate; (5) seeds, non-sweet granola and loads of cut fruit to be mixed in are the best finisher. Now that I have that clear, I hope I can be forgiven for my previous lack of appreciation for the smoothie bowl. I've hit hipster douchebag level. I can't participate in the "meal train" for a family dealing with a sick family member because all they want is chicken fingers and fries, spaghetti with no vegetables and deli meats for sandwiches. The "no vegetables" was in capital letters.... I don't even know what to make because I believe food should be at least somewhat healthy. I'm out.
