The other day I made a post comparing new (classical) music of today with older classical music such as Bach or Schoenberg. http://bit.ly/KEkQOY
New Music may be excepted by a larger audience of amateur music listeners because the rhythms and harmonic structures can be more exciting. For example, music by Philip Glass or Matthew Hindson could cause excitement and euphoria as oppose to even a great Tchaikovsky Symphony which may be to long and intricate for someone to follow.Â
On the other hand new music can also be so intense that it may cause anxiety for some people. (see Ligeti example below) I guess it depends on which current composer is considered. Some music can be fun and some can be dark and terrifying. Â
