Sybil rolls over and bed before she takes in a breath. She’s tired but she can’t seem to get comfortable which isn't surprising to her as pregnant as she is. She lets out a sound before she pats Kal’s arm. “Kal- Kal wake up I think I’m in labor.” 

❝     kal   ...   ❞      it  wasn’t  a  question  ,  but  the  tone  with  which  eric  chose  to  greet  the  other  man  said  clearly  enough  that  he  was  unsure  of  this  new  situation                  as  most  probably  were  .  there  was  no  other  choice  ,  alexandria  was      quite  literally      the  only  refuge  left  ,  still  ,  that  didn’t  make  the  act  of  opening  their  gates  to  near-strangers  any  easier  .      ❝     i      think      the    last   time   i   saw   you   i   was   two   second   away   from   a   heart   attack   ,   ❞      eric  could  think  back  on  the  memory  and  smile  ,  which  he  did  .  that  run  felt  like  it  had  taken  place  decades  ago  and  to  a  completley  different  person  ,  with  a  completley  different  personality  and  set  of  ideals  .  what  a  difference  a  few  years  could  make  .

❛          𝑖   𝑐𝑎𝑛'𝑡   𝑙𝑒𝑡   𝑦𝑜𝑢   𝑖𝑛      ...         ❜          with   the   gate   opened          𝒋𝒖𝒔𝒕      𝒂      𝒕𝒂𝒅          ,   it   was   possible   for   grace   to   stick   her   head   through   the   gap   ,   surveying   those   who   had   come   seeking   entrance   .   there   was   no   fear   shown   on   porcelain   face   ,   no          𝒔𝒕𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒆𝒓      𝒅𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒆𝒓          imminent   .   those   who   stood   before   her   had   already   been   granted   access   ,   familiar   faces   to   some   ,   though   grace   could          𝒐𝒏𝒍𝒚      𝒗𝒂𝒈𝒖𝒆𝒍𝒚      𝒓𝒆𝒄𝒐𝒈𝒏𝒊𝒛𝒆          one   or   two   figures   from  when   she   had   been   much   smaller                              still   ,   even   if   grace          𝑯𝑨𝑫          remembered   each          &          every   one   of   them   ,   she   wouldn’t   have   been   able   to   help   .

   “𝓨ou might as well try–” Kal said as he looked over towards Carl. “–There’s no use staying up and making yourself more tired.”

🔫 Carl shook his head just enough to be noticed. Eventually he would be too exhausted to stay up and would pass out, but in the meantime, as long as he could help it, he wouldn’t sleep. Wouldn’t attempt to sleep just to wake up from the same thing again. It was repetitive enough for him to stop trying - to stop waking up more exhausted than when he’d attempted sleep to begin with. “I can’t.” And fact was, he was scared to. Scared and more tired of seeing it.

“I was asleep; until I woke up more stressed out than when I’d gone to sleep.” It wasn’t particularly cold out tonight, but he could swear he had chills and that something was cold. Maybe it was just himself. Maybe that really had messed him up. “I tried a few times, but... every time I did it was all the same. I see it happen again. See him get stabbed. I wake up every time he hits the ground.” He knew what he was comprehending seeing wasn’t what was out there. Just looking out into what was ahead of them wasn’t really all black. Dark. But it was what he saw. “It’s not even the first night it’s happened. I don’t know when it’ll go away.”
